லூக்கா 4
1 ௧ இயேசு பரிசுத்த ஆவியானவராலே நிறைந்தவராக யோர்தானைவிட்டுத் திரும்பி, பரிசுத்த ஆவியானவராலே வனாந்திரத்திற்குக் கொண்டுபோகப்பட்டு,
On returning from the Jordan, full of the Holy Spirit, Jesus was led by the power of the Spirit through the Wilderness for forty days, tempted by the Devil.
2 ௨ நாற்பதுநாட்கள் சாத்தானால் சோதிக்கப்பட்டார். அந்த நாட்களில் அவர் ஒன்றும் சாப்பிடாமல் இருந்தார்; அந்த நாட்கள் முடிந்தபின்பு அவருக்குப் பசி உண்டானது.
All that time he ate nothing; and, when it was over, he became hungry.
3 ௩ அப்பொழுது சாத்தான் அவரை நோக்கி: நீர் தேவனுடைய குமாரனென்றால், இந்தக் கல் அப்பமாக மாறும்படிச் சொல்லும் என்றான்.
So the Devil said to him: “If you are God’s Son, tell this stone to become a loaf of bread.”
4 ௪ இயேசு மறுமொழியாக: மனிதன் அப்பத்தினால்மட்டுமில்லை, தேவனுடைய ஒவ்வொரு வார்த்தையினாலும் பிழைப்பான் என்று எழுதியிருக்கிறதே என்றார்.
And Jesus answered him: “Scripture says — ‘It is not on bread alone that man is to live.’”
5 ௫ பின்பு சாத்தான் அவரை உயர்ந்த மலையின்மேல் கொண்டுபோய், உலகத்தின் எல்லா ராஜ்யங்களையும் ஒரு நிமிஷத்திலே அவருக்குக் காண்பித்து:
And the Devil led Jesus up, and showing him in a single moment all the kingdoms of the earth, said to him:
6 ௬ இவைகள் எல்லாவற்றின்மேலும் உமக்கு அதிகாரத்தையும் இவைகளின் மகிமையையும் உமக்குத் தருவேன், இவைகள் என்னுடைய பொறுப்பில் ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறது; எனக்கு இஷ்டமானவனுக்கு இவைகளைக் கொடுப்பேன்.
“I will give you all this power, and the splendour of them; for it has been given into my hands and I give it to whom I wish.
If you, therefore, will do homage before me, it shall all be yours.”
8 ௮ இயேசு அவனுக்கு மறுமொழியாக: எனக்குப் பின்னாகப்போ சாத்தானே, உன் தேவனாகிய யெகோவாவைமட்டும் பணிந்துகொண்டு, அவர் ஒருவருக்குமட்டும் ஆராதனைசெய் என்று எழுதியிருக்கிறது என்றார்.
And Jesus answered him: “Scripture says — ‘Thou shalt do homage to the Lord thy God, and worship him only.’”
9 ௯ அப்பொழுது அவன் அவரை எருசலேமுக்குக் கொண்டுபோய், தேவாலயத்தின் உச்சியில் அவரை நிறுத்தி: நீர் தேவனுடைய குமாரனென்றால், இங்கேயிருந்து கீழே குதியும்.
The Devil next led him into Jerusalem, and, placing him on the parapet of the Temple, said: “If you are God’s Son throw yourself down from here,
for Scripture says — ‘He will give his angels commands about thee, to guard thee safely,’
11 ௧௧ உமது பாதம் கல்லில் மோதாதபடி, அவர்கள் உம்மை தங்களுடைய கைகளில் ஏந்திக்கொண்டுபோவார்கள் என்றும் எழுதியிருக்கிறது என்று சொன்னான்.
And ‘On their hands they will upbear thee, Lest ever thou shouldst strike thy foot against a stone.’”
12 ௧௨ அதற்கு இயேசு: உன் தேவனாகிய யெகோவாவை சோதித்துப்பார்க்காதிருப்பாயாக என்றும் சொல்லியிருக்கிறதே என்றார்.
But Jesus answered him: “It is said — ‘Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.’”
When he had tried every kind of temptation, the Devil left Jesus, till another opportunity.
14 ௧௪ பின்பு இயேசு பரிசுத்த ஆவியானவருடைய பலத்தினாலே கலிலேயாவிற்குத் திரும்பிப்போனார். அவரைப்பற்றிய செய்தி சுற்றிலும் இருக்கிற தேசங்களெல்லாம் பரவியது.
Moved by the power of the Spirit, Jesus returned to Galilee. Reports about him spread through all that neighbourhood;
and he began to teach in their Synagogues, and was honoured by everyone.
16 ௧௬ ஒரு நாள் இயேசு தாம் வளர்ந்த ஊராகிய நாசரேத்திற்கு வந்து, தம்முடைய வழக்கத்தின்படியே ஓய்வுநாளில் ஜெப ஆலயத்திற்குச் சென்று, வேதத்தை வாசிக்க எழுந்து நின்றார்.
Coming to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, Jesus, as was his custom, went on the Sabbath into the Synagogue, and stood up to read the Scriptures.
17 ௧௭ அப்பொழுது ஏசாயா தீர்க்கதரிசியின் புத்தகம் அவரிடத்தில் கொடுக்கப்பட்டது. அவர் புத்தகத்தை விரித்தபோது:
The book given him was that of the Prophet Isaiah; and Jesus opened the book and found the place where it says —
18 ௧௮ யெகோவாவுடைய ஆவியானவர் என்மேல் இருக்கிறார்; எளியவர்களுக்கு நற்செய்தியைப் பிரசங்கிப்பதற்காக என்னை அபிஷேகம்பண்ணினார்; இருதயம் காயப்பட்டவர்களைக் குணமாக்கவும், சிறைப்பட்டவர்களுக்கு விடுதலையையும், பார்வை இல்லாதவர்களுக்குப் பார்வையையும், ஒடுக்கப்பட்டவர்களை விடுதலையாக்கவும்,
‘The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, For he has consecrated me to bring Good News to the poor, He has sent me to proclaim release to captives and restoration of sight to the blind, To set the oppressed at liberty,
19 ௧௯ இந்த வருடம் யெகோவாவுடைய கிருபையின் வருடம் என்பதைச் சொல்லவும், என்னை அனுப்பினார்,” என்று எழுதியிருக்கிறதை அவர் பார்த்து.
to proclaim the accepted year of the Lord.’
20 ௨0 அதை வாசித்து, பின்பு புத்தகத்தைச் சுருட்டி, பணிவிடை செய்பவனிடம் கொடுத்து உட்கார்ந்தார். ஜெப ஆலயத்திலுள்ள எல்லோரும் அவரை உற்றுப் பார்த்துக்கொண்டிருந்தார்கள்.
Then, closing the book and returning it to the attendant, he sat down. The eyes of all in the Synagogue were fixed upon him,
21 ௨௧ அப்பொழுது அவர் அவர்களோடு பேசத்தொடங்கி: “நீங்கள் கேட்ட இந்த வேதவாக்கியம் இன்று நிறைவேறியது” என்றார்.
and Jesus began: “This very day this passage has been fulfilled in your hearing.”
22 ௨௨ எல்லோரும் அவருக்கு நற்சாட்சிக் கொடுத்து, அவர் பேசின கிருபையுள்ள வார்த்தைகளைக்குறித்து ஆச்சரியப்பட்டார்கள்: ஆனால், அவர்களில் சிலர்: “இவன் யோசேப்பின் குமாரன் அல்லவா” என்றார்கள்.
All who were present spoke well of him, and were astonished at the beautiful words that fell from his lips. “Is not he Joseph’s son?” they asked.
23 ௨௩ அவர் அவர்களை நோக்கி: “நீங்கள் என்னிடம், வைத்தியனே, உன்னைநீயே குணமாக்கிக்கொள் என்கிற பழமொழியைச் சொல்லி, நாங்கள் கேள்விப்பட்டபடி கப்பர்நகூமில் நீ செய்த செயல்களையெல்லாம் உன் சொந்த ஊராகிய இங்கேயும் செய் என்று சொல்லுவீர்கள் என்பது நிச்சயம்.
“Doubtless,” said Jesus, “you will remind me of the saying — ‘Doctor, cure yourself;’ and you will say ‘Do here in your own country all that we have heard that has been done at Capernaum.’
24 ௨௪ ஆனாலும் ஒரு தீர்க்கதரிசியை அவனுடைய சொந்த ஊரிலே ஒருவனும் அங்கீகரிக்கமாட்டான் என்று நிச்சயமாகவே உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன்.
I tell you,” he continued, “that no Prophet is acceptable in his own country.
25 ௨௫ அன்றியும் எலியா தீர்க்கதரிசி வாழ்ந்த நாட்களிலே மூன்று வருடங்களும் ஆறு மாதங்களும் வானம் அடைக்கப்பட்டு மழை இல்லாமல், தேசமெங்கும் கொடிய பஞ்சம் உண்டாயிருந்தபோது, இஸ்ரவேலில் அநேக விதவைகள் இருந்தார்கள்.
There were, doubtless, many widows in Israel in Elijah’s days, when the heavens were closed for three years and six months, and a severe famine prevailed throughout the country;
26 ௨௬ இருந்தாலும், எலியா தீர்க்கதரிசி, இவர்களில் எந்தவொரு யூதவிதவையிடமும் அனுப்பப்படாமல், சீதோன் நாட்டிலுள்ள சரெப்தா என்னும் ஊரில் இருந்த ஒரு விதவையிடம் அனுப்பப்பட்டான்.
and yet it was not to one of them that Elijah was sent, but to a widow at Zarephath in Sidonia.
27 ௨௭ அல்லாமலும் எலிசா தீர்க்கதரிசியின் காலத்திலே இஸ்ரவேலில் அநேக குஷ்டரோகிகள் இருந்தார்கள்; இருந்தாலும் சீரியா தேசத்தைச் சேர்ந்த நாகமானைத்தவிர அவர்களில் வேறு ஒருவனையும் எலிசா சுத்தமாக்கவில்லை என்று சத்தியத்தின்படி உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன்” என்றார்.
And there were many lepers in Israel in the time of the Prophet Elisha, yet it was not one of them who was made clean, but Naaman the Syrian.”
All the people in the Synagogue, as they listened to this, became enraged.
29 ௨௯ எழுந்திருந்து, அவரை ஊருக்கு வெளியே தள்ளி, தங்களுடைய ஊர் கட்டப்பட்டிருந்த செங்குத்தான மலையின் உச்சியிலிருந்து அவரைத் தலைகீழாகத் தள்ளிவிடுவதற்காக அந்த இடத்திற்குக் கொண்டுபோனார்கள்.
Starting up, they drove Jesus out of the town, and led him to the brow of the hill on which their town stood, intending to hurl him down.
But he passed through the middle of the crowd and went on his way.
31 ௩௧ பின்பு அவர் கலிலேயாவிலுள்ள கப்பர்நகூம் என்னும் பட்டணத்திற்கு வந்து, ஓய்வுநாட்களில் மக்களுக்குப் போதனை பண்ணினார்.
Then Jesus went down to Capernaum, a city in Galilee. On the Sabbath he taught the people.
32 ௩௨ அவருடைய வசனம் அதிகாரமுள்ளதாக இருந்தபடியால் அவருடைய போதனையைக்குறித்து அவர்கள் ஆச்சரியப்பட்டார்கள்.
They were amazed at his teaching, because his words were spoken with authority.
In the Synagogue there was a man with the spirit of a foul demon in him, who called out loudly:
34 ௩௪ அவன்: ஐயோ! நசரேயனாகிய இயேசுவே, எங்களுக்கும் உமக்கும் என்ன? எங்களைக் கெடுக்கவா வந்தீர்? நீர் யார் என்று நான் அறிவேன்; நீர் தேவனுடைய பரிசுத்தர் என்று அதிக சத்தமிட்டுச் சொன்னான்.
“Stop! What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are — the Holy One of God!”
35 ௩௫ அதற்கு இயேசு: நீ பேசாமல் இவனைவிட்டு வெளியே போ என்று அதை அதட்டினார்; அப்பொழுது பிசாசு அவனை மக்களின் நடுவே கீழேத் தள்ளி, அவனுக்கு ஒரு தீங்கும் செய்யாமல், அவனைவிட்டுப் போய்விட்டது.
But Jesus rebuked the demon. “Be silent! Come out from him,” he said. The demon flung the man down in the middle of the people, and then came out from him, without causing him further harm.
36 ௩௬ எல்லோரும் ஆச்சரியப்பட்டு: இது என்ன வார்த்தையோ! அதிகாரத்தோடும் வல்லமையோடும் அசுத்தஆவிகளுக்குக் கட்டளையிடுகிறார், அவைகள் புறப்பட்டுப் போகிறதே என்று ஒருவரோடொருவர் பேசிக்கொண்டார்கள்.
And they were all lost in amazement, and kept saying to one another: “What words are these? For he gives his commands to the foul spirits with a marvellous authority, and they come out.”
And rumours about Jesus traveled through every place in the neighbourhood.
38 ௩௮ பின்பு அவர் ஜெப ஆலயத்தைவிட்டுப் புறப்பட்டு, சீமோன் வீட்டிற்குப் போனார். அங்கு சீமோனுடைய மாமியார் கடும் ஜூரத்தோடு படுத்திருந்தாள். அவளை குணமாக்கவேண்டுமென்று அவளுக்காக அவரை வேண்டிக்கொண்டார்கள்.
On leaving the Synagogue, Jesus went into Simon’s house. Now Simon’s mother-in-law was suffering from a severe attack of fever, and they asked Jesus to cure her.
39 ௩௯ அவர் அவளிடம் குனிந்து நின்று, ஜூரம் நீங்கும்படி கட்டளையிட்டார், உடனே ஜூரம் அவளைவிட்டு நீங்கியது, அவள் எழுந்து அவர்களுக்குப் பணிவிடைசெய்தாள்.
Bending over her, he rebuked the fever; the fever left her, and she immediately got up and began to wait upon them.
40 ௪0 சூரியன் அஸ்தமித்தபோது, மக்களெல்லோரும் பலவிதமான வியாதிகளால் கஷ்டப்பட்டவர்களை அவரிடத்தில் கொண்டுவந்தார்கள். அவர்கள் ஒவ்வொருவர்மேலும் அவர் தம்முடைய கரங்களை வைத்து, அவர்களை சுகமாக்கினார்.
At sunset, all who had friends suffering from various diseases took them to Jesus; and he placed his hands upon every one of them and cured them.
41 ௪௧ பிசாசுகளும்: நீர் தேவனுடைய குமாரனாகிய கிறிஸ்து என்று சத்தமிட்டு அநேகரைவிட்டுப் புறப்பட்டுப்போனது. அவர் கிறிஸ்து என்று பிசாசுகளுக்கு தெரிந்திருந்தபடியால் அவர் அவைகளைப் பேசவிடாமல் அதட்டினார்.
And even demons came out from many people, screaming ‘You are the Son of God.’ Jesus rebuked them, and would not allow them to speak, because they knew that he was the Christ.
42 ௪௨ சூரியன் உதயமானபோது அவர் புறப்பட்டு, வனாந்திரமான ஒரு இடத்திற்குப் போனார். அநேக மக்கள் அவரைத் தேடி அவரிடம் வந்து, அவர்களைவிட்டுப் போகவேண்டாம் என்று அவரைத் தடுத்து நிறுத்தப்பார்த்தனர்.
At daybreak, Jesus went out and walked to a lonely spot. But crowds of people began to look for him; and they came to where he was and tried to detain him and prevent his leaving them.
43 ௪௩ அவரோ அவர்களை நோக்கி: நான் மற்ற ஊர்களிலும் தேவனுடைய ராஜ்யத்தைக்குறித்துப் பிரசங்கம் பண்ணவேண்டும், இதற்காகத்தான் அனுப்பப்பட்டேன் என்றார்.
Jesus, however, said to them: “I must take the Good News of the Kingdom of God to the other town also, for that was why I was sent.”
And he continued to make his proclamation in the Synagogues of Judea.
