ஏசாயா 42

1 “இதோ, நான் ஆதரிக்கிற என் ஊழியர், என்னால் தெரிந்துகொள்ளப்பட்ட இவரில் நான் மகிழ்ச்சியாயிருக்கிறேன்; இவர்மேல் என் ஆவியானவரை அமரப்பண்ணுவேன், அவர் நாடுகளுக்கு நீதியை வழங்குவார்.

Behold my servant, I will uphold him: my elect, my soul delighteth in him: I have given my spirit upon him, he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.

2 அவர் சத்தமிடவோ, சத்தமிட்டுக் கூப்பிடவோமாட்டார். அவர் வீதிகளில் உரத்த குரலில் பேசவுமாட்டார்.

He shall not cry, nor have respect to person, neither shall his voice be heard abroad.

3 அவர் நெரிந்த நாணலை முறிக்கமாட்டார், மங்கி எரிகின்ற திரியை அணைத்துவிடவுமாட்டார்; அவர் உண்மையில் நீதியை வெளிப்படுத்தி, அதை நிலைநாட்டுவார்.

The bruised reed he shall not break, and smoking flax he shall not quench: he shall bring forth judgment unto truth.

4 பூமியிலே அவர் நீதியை நிலைநாட்டும்வரை தயங்கவுமாட்டார் தளரவுமாட்டார். தீவுகள் அவரது வேதத்தில் தங்கள் நம்பிக்கையை வைக்கும்.”

He shall not be sad, nor troublesome, till he set judgment in the earth: and the islands shall wait for his law.

5 யெகோவாவாகிய இறைவன் சொல்வதாவது: அவரே வானங்களைப் படைத்து அவைகளை விரித்து வைத்தார், அவரே பூமியையும், அதிலிருந்து வரும் அனைத்தையும் பரப்பினார். அவரே அதில் உள்ள மக்களுக்கு சுவாசத்தைக் கொடுத்தார். அதில் நடமாடுபவர்களுக்கு உயிரைக் கொடுத்தார். அவர் சொல்வது இதுவே:

Thus saith the Lord God that created the heavens, and stretched them out: that established the earth, and the things that spring out of it: that giveth breath to the people upon it, and spirit to them that tread thereon.

6 “யெகோவாவாகிய நான் நீதியிலேயே உன்னை அழைத்து, நான் உனது கையைப் பிடித்து, நான் உன்னைக் காத்து, நீர் மக்களுக்கு ஒரு உடன்படிக்கையாகவும், பிற நாட்டவர்களுக்கு ஒரு ஒளியாகவும் இருக்கும்படி உம்மை ஏற்படுத்துவேன்.

I the Lord have called thee in justice, and taken thee by the hand, and preserved thee. And I have given thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles:

7 குருடரின் கண்களைத் திறக்கவும், சிறையிலுள்ளவர்களை விடுதலையாக்கவும், இருட்டறையிலிருந்து விடுவிக்கவுமே இவ்வாறு செய்வேன்.

That thou mightest open the eyes of the blind, and bring forth the prisoner out of prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.

8 “நான் யெகோவா; இதுவே எனது பெயர்! எனது மகிமையை வேறொருவருக்கும் கொடுக்கமாட்டேன்; எனக்குரிய துதியை விக்கிரகங்களுக்குக் கொடுக்கமாட்டேன்.

I the Lord, this is my name: I will not give my glory to another, nor my praise to graven things.

9 இதோ, முற்காலத்தில் சொல்லப்பட்டவை நடந்தேறிவிட்டன, இப்பொழுது நான் புதியவற்றை அறிவிக்கின்றேன். அவை தோன்றி உருவாகுமுன்பே அவைகளை நான் உங்களுக்கு அறிவிக்கிறேன்.”

The things that were first, behold they are come: and new things do I declare: before they spring forth, I will make you head them.

10 கடலில் பயணம் செய்கிறவர்களே, கடலில் வாழ்பவைகளே, தீவுகளே, அங்கு வாழும் குடிகளே, யெகோவாவுக்கு புதுப்பாட்டைப் பாடுங்கள், பூமியின் கடைசிகளில் இருந்து அவருக்குத் துதி பாடுங்கள்.

Sing ye to the Lora a new song, his praise is from the ends of the earth: you that go down to the sea, and all that are therein: ye islands, and ye inhabitants of them.

11 பாலைவனமும் அதன் பட்டணங்களும் தங்கள் குரல்களை எழுப்பட்டும்; கேதாரியர் வாழும் குடியிருப்புகள் மகிழட்டும். சேலாவின் மக்கள் மகிழ்ந்து பாடட்டும்; அவர்கள் மலை உச்சிகளில் இருந்து ஆர்ப்பரிக்கட்டும்.

Let the desert and the cities thereof be exalted: Cedar shall dwell in houses: ye inhabitants of Petra, give praise, they shall cry from the top of the mountains.

12 அவர்கள் யெகோவாவுக்கு மகிமையைக் கொடுக்கட்டும், அவரின் துதியைத் தீவுகளில் பிரசித்தப்படுத்தட்டும்.

They shall give glory to the Lord, and shall declare his praise in the islands.

13 யெகோவா வலிய மனிதனைப்போல் முன்சென்று, போர்வீரனைப்போல் தன் வைராக்கியங்கொண்டு எழும்புவார். அவர் உரத்த சத்தமாய் போர்க்குரல் எழுப்பி, பகைவரை வெற்றிகொள்வார்.

The Lord shall go forth as a mighty man, as a man of war shall he stir up zeal: he shall shout and cry: he shall prevail against his enemies.

14 “நான் வெகுகாலம் மவுனமாய் இருந்தேன், நான் அமைதியாய் இருந்து என்னையே அடக்கிக்கொண்டிருந்தேன். ஆனால் இப்பொழுது, பிரசவிக்கும் பெண்ணைப்போல் கதறி அழுது, மூச்சுத் திணறுகிறேன்.

I have always held my peace, I have I kept silence, I have been patient, I will speak now as a woman in labour: I will destroy, and swallow up at once.

15 நான் மலைகளையும், குன்றுகளையும் பாழாக்குவேன், அவைகளிலுள்ள தாவரங்களையும் வாடிப்போகப் பண்ணுவேன். ஆறுகளைத் தீவுகளாக மாற்றி, குளங்களையும் வற்றப்பண்ணுவேன்.

I will lay waste the mountains and hills, and will make all their grass to wither: and I will turn rivers into islands, and will dry up the standing pools.

16 நான் குருடரை அவர்கள் அறிந்திராத வழிகளில் வழிநடத்தி, அவர்களுக்குப் பழக்கமில்லாத பாதைகளில் அழைத்துச்செல்வேன்; நான் இருளை அவர்களுக்கு முன்பாக வெளிச்சமாக்கி, கரடுமுரடான இடங்களைச் செப்பனிடுவேன். நான் செய்யப்போகும் காரியங்கள் இவையே; நான் அவர்களை நான் கைவிடமாட்டேன்.

And I will lead the blind into the way which they know not: and in the paths which they were ignorant of I will make them walk: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight: these things have I done to them, and have not forsaken them.

17 ஆனால் விக்கிரகங்களில் நம்பிக்கை வைத்து, உருவச் சிலைகளைப் பார்த்து, ‘நீங்களே எங்கள் தெய்வங்கள்’ என்று சொல்பவர்கள் பின்னடைந்து முற்றுமாய் வெட்கப்படுவார்கள்.

They are turned back: let them be greatly confounded, that trust in a graven thing, that say to a molten thing: You are our god.

18 “செவிடரே, கேளுங்கள்; குருடரே, கவனித்துப் பாருங்கள்!

Hear, ye deaf, and, ye blind, behold that you may see.

19 எனது ஊழியனைவிடக் குருடன் யார்? நான் அனுப்பும் தூதுவனைவிடச் செவிடன் யார்? எனக்குத் தன்னை அர்ப்பணித்தவனைப்போல் குருடன் யார்? யெகோவாவின் ஊழியனைப்போல் குருடன் யார்?

Who is blind, but my servant? or deaf, but he to whom I have sent my messengers? Who is blind, but he that is sold? or who is blind, but the servant of the Lord?

20 நீ பல காரியங்களைக் கண்டும் அதைக் கவனத்தில் எடுத்துக்கொள்ளவில்லை. உன் காதுகள் திறந்திருந்தும் நீ ஒன்றையும் கேளாதிருக்கிறாய்.”

Thou that seest many things, wilt thou not observe them? thou that hast ears open, wilt thou not hear?

21 யெகோவா தன் நீதியின் நிமித்தம் தனது சட்டத்தைச் சிறப்பாகவும், மகிமையாகவும் செய்வதில் மகிழ்ச்சியடைந்தார்.

And the Lord was willing to sanctify him, and to magnify the law, and exalt it.

22 ஆனால் இந்த மக்களோ கொள்ளையடிக்கப்பட்டு, சூறையாடப்பட்டும் இருக்கிறார்கள்; அவர்கள் எல்லோருமே குழிகளில் அகப்பட்டும், சிறைச்சாலைகளில் மறைக்கப்பட்டும் இருக்கிறார்கள். அவர்கள் தம்மை விடுவிப்பாரின்றி கொள்ளைப் பொருளாகி, “அவர்களைத் திருப்பி அனுப்புங்கள்” என்று சொல்வாரின்றி அவர்கள் சூறையாவார்கள்.

But this is a people that is robbed and wasted: they are all the snare of young men, and they are hid in the houses of prisons: they are made a prey, and there is none to deliver them: a spoil, and there is none that saith: Restore.

23 உங்களில் எவன் இதற்குச் செவிகொடுப்பான்? எவன் வருங்காலத்தை கவனித்துக் கேட்பான்?

Who is there among you that will give ear to this, that will attend and hearken for times to come?

24 யாக்கோபை சூறைப்பொருளாகக் கொடுத்தது யார்? இஸ்ரயேலை கொள்ளைக்காரருக்கு ஒப்படைத்தது யார்? யெகோவா அல்லவா இதைச் செய்தார், நாமோ அவருக்கு எதிராகப் பாவம் செய்தோமே. ஏனென்றால் அவர்கள் அவரின் வழிகளைப் பின்பற்றவில்லை, அவரது சட்டத்திற்குக் கீழ்ப்படியவுமில்லை.

Who hath given Jacob for a spoil, and Israel to robbers? hath not the Lord himself, against whom we have sinned? And they would not walk in his ways, and they have not hearkened to his law.

25 ஆகையால் அவர் தனது பற்றியெரியும் கோபத்தையும், போரின் வன்செயலையும் அவர்கள்மேல் ஊற்றினார். அது அவர்களை நெருப்புச் சுவாலைகளினால் சூழ்ந்துகொண்டும், அதை அவர்கள் விளங்கிக்கொள்ளவில்லை. அது அவர்களைச் சுட்டெரித்தது, ஆனால் அதை அவர்கள் மனதில் கொள்ளவில்லை.

And he hath poured out upon him the indignation of his fury, and a strong battle, and hath burnt him round about, and he knew not: and set him on fire, and he understood not.
