Haggai 1
1 Uti andra årena Konungs Darios, uti sjette månadenom, på första dagen i månadenom, skedde Herrans ord, genom den Propheten Haggai, till Serubbabel, Sealthiels son, Juda Första, och till Jehosua, Jozadaks son, den öfversta Presten, och sade:
In the second year of king Darius, in the sixth month, on the first day of the month, came the word of the Lord through means of Haggai the prophet unto Zerubbabel the son of Shealthiel, the governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, saying,
2 Så säger Herren Zebaoth: Detta folket säger: Tiden är ännu icke kommen, att man Herrans hus bygga skall.
Thus hath said the Lord of hosts, saying, This people have said, The time is not yet come, the time for the Lord's house to be built.
3 Och Herrans ord skedde genom den Propheten Haggai sägandes:
And the word of the Lord came by means of Haggai the prophet, saying,
4 Månn då edar tid vara kommen, att I bo skolen uti hvälfdom husom, och detta huset måste öde stå?
Is it time for you, O ye, to dwell in your ceiled houses, while this house lieth in ruins?
5 Nu, så säger Herren Zebaoth: Ser, huru det går eder.
Now therefore, thus hath said the Lord of hosts, Direct your heart unto your ways.
6 I sån mycket, och fören litet in; I äten, och varden dock icke mätte; I dricken, och varden dock intet otörstige; I kläden eder, och kunnen dock intet värma eder; och den der penningar förtjenar, han lägger dem uti hålogan pung.
Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but it doth not satisfy hunger; ye drink, but it doth not appease thirst; ye clothe yourselves, but no one is warm; and he that earneth something earneth it for a bag with holes.
7 Så säger Herren Zebaoth: Ser, huru det går eder.
Thus hath said the Lord of hosts, Direct your heart to your ways.
8 Går upp på berget, och hemter trä, och bygger huset; det skall vara mig tacknämligt och jag skall bevisa mina äro, säger Herren.
Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house: that I may take pleasure in it, and be glorified, saith the Lord.
9 Ty I vänten väl efter mycket, och si, det varder litet; och om I än fören det hem, så blås jag dock det bort. Hvi så? säger Herren Zebaoth. Derföre, att mitt hus så öde står, och hvar och en hastar med sino huse;
[Till now] ye looked for much, and lo, it came to be little; and when ye brought it home, I blew upon it. For what cause? saith the Lord of hosts. Because of my house that lieth in ruins, while ye run every man unto his own house.
10 Derföre hafver himmelen förhållit daggena öfver eder, och jorden sina frukt.
Therefore do the heavens for your sake withhold the dew, and the earth withholdeth her products.
11 Och jag hafver kallat torko, både öfver land och berg, öfver korn, vin, oljo, och öfver allt det utaf jordene kommer; och öfver folk och fä, och öfver allt händers arbete.
And I called for a drought over the land, and over the mountains, and over the corn, and over the new wine, and over the oil, and over what the ground bringeth forth, and over men, and over cattle, and over all the labor of the hands.
12 Då hörde Serubbabel, Sealthiels son, och Jehosua, Jozadaks son, den öfverste Presten, och alle öfverblefne af folket, sådana Herrans, deras Guds, röst, och Prophetens Haggai ord; såsom Herren, deras Gud, honom sändt hade; och folket fruktade sig för Herranom.
Then hearkened Zerubbabel the son of Shealthiel, and Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, unto the voice of the Lord their God, and to the words of Haggai the prophet, as the Lord their God had sent him, and the people were afraid of the Lord.
13 Då sade Haggai, Herrans Ängel, som Herrans bådskap hade till folket: Jag är med eder, säger Herren.
Then said Haggai the messenger of the Lord by the Lord's message unto the people saying, I am with you, saith the Lord.
14 Och Herren uppväckte Serubbabels anda, Sealthiels sons, Juda Förstas, och Jehosua anda, Jozadaks sons, dens öfversta Prestens, och allt igenlefda folkens anda; så att de kommo, och arbetade uppå Herrans Zebaoths, deras Guds, hus.
And the Lord stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealthiel, the governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people, and they came and did work on the house of the Lord of hosts, their God.
15 På fjerde och tjugonde dagen i sjette månadenom, uti andro årena Konungs Darios;
On the four and twentieth day of the sixth month, in the second year of king Darius.
