1 Samweli 2
1 Hana aliomba akasema, “moyo wangu wamtukuza BWANA. Pembe yangu imejulikana katika BWANA. Kinywa changu kinatamba dhidi ya maadui zangu, kwa kuwa naufurahia wokovu wako.
Then prayed Hannah, and said, My heart hath leaped for joy in Yahweh, My horn is exalted in Yahweh, My mouth is opened wide, o’er my foes, Because I rejoice in thy salvation.
2 Hakuna aliye mtakatifu kama BWANA, kwa kuwa hakuna mwingine zaidi yako; hakuna mwamba kama Mungu wetu.
There is none holy like Yahweh, Nay! there, is none, except Thee, Nor, is, there a rock, like our God.
3 Msijivune sana hivyo kwa kiburi; vinywa vyenu visitoke majivuno. Kwa kuwa BWANA ni Mungu wa maarifa; yeye huyapima matendo kwa mizani.
Do not multiply words, so loftily—loftily, Nor let arrogance proceed from your mouth, —For, a GOD of knowledge, is Yahweh, And, for himself, are great doings made firm.
4 Pinde za mashujaa zimevunjika, bali wale wanaojikwaa hujivika nguvu kama mshipi.
The bow of the mighty, is dismayed, —While, the fainting, are girded with strength;
5 Wale walio na shibe ya kutosha wamejikodisha ili wapate chakula; wale waliokuwa na njaa hawana njaa tena. Hata yule aliye kuwa tasa amezaa watoto saba, bali mwanamke mwenye watoto wengi amenyong'onyea.
The sated, have, for bread, taken hire, But, the famished, have left off their toil, —So that, the barren, hath given birth unto seven, While, she that hath many sons, languisheth:
Yahweh, doth kill, and make alive, —Taketh down to hades, and bringeth up: (Sheol h7585)
7 BWANA humfanya maskini, na yeye ndiye humtajirisha mtu. Yeye hudhili, lakini pia hukweza
Yahweh, maketh poor, and enricheth, —Layeth low, yea exalteth;
8 Yeye humwinua juu maskini toka mavumbini: Huwainua wahitaji toka jalalani na kuwaketisha pamoja na wakuu na kuwarithisha kiti cha enzi cha utukufu. Kwa kuwa nguzo za dunia ni za BWANA na ameukalisha ulimwengu juu yake.
Raiseth, from the dust, the poor, From the dunghill, uplifteth the needy, To give them a dwelling with nobles, And, a throne of glory, to make them inherit. For, to Yahweh, belong the pillars of the earth, And he setteth thereon the habitable world.
9 Yeye atazilinda nyayo za watu wake waaminifu, bali waovu watanyamazishwa gizani, kwa maana hakuna atayeshinda kwa nguvu zake.
The feet of his loving ones, he doth guard, But, the lawless, in darkness shall be silent, —For, by strength, shall no man prevail.
10 Wale wampingao BWANA watavunjwa vipande vipande; atawapiga radi kutokea mbinguni. BWANA atahukumu miisho ya dunia; atampa nguvu mfalme wake na kuinua pembe ya mtiwa mafuta wake.”
As for Yahweh, —they shall be shattered who contend with him, Over him, in the heavens will he thunder, Yahweh, will judge the ends of the earth, —That he may give strength to his King, And exalt the horn of his Anointed One.
11 Nndipo Elikana akenda Rama, nyumbani kwake. Na yule mtoto akamtumikia BWANA machoni pa Eli, kuhani.
Then went Elkanah to Ramah, unto his own house, —but, the boy, remained ministering unto Yahweh, before Eli the priest.
12 Basi, watoto wa Eli walikuwa wakorofi. Wao hawakumheshimu BWANA.
Now, the sons of Eli, were abandoned men, —they knew not Yahweh.
13 Desturi ya makuhani na watu ilikuwa kwamba endapo mtu yeyote ametoa dhabihu, mtumishi wa kuhani angekuja akiwa na uma wa meno matatu mkononi mwake, nyama ilipokuwa inatokoswa.
And, the custom of the priests with the people, was—when any man offered a sacrifice, then would come the priests young man, as the flesh was boiling, with a three-pronged fork in his hand;
14 Naye angeutia uma huo sufuriani, au birikani au chomboni au chunguni; nyama yote ambayo ingeinuliwa na uma huo ingetwaliwa na kuhani mwenyewe. Ndivyo walivyofanya huko Shilo kwa Waisraeli wote waliokwenda huko.
and would strike it into the boiler, or into the trough, or into the kettle, or into the pot, all that the fork would bring up, the priest took for himself. Thus and thus, used they to do unto all Israel, who came thither, in Shiloh.
15 Tena, kabla ya kuteketeza mafuta, mtumishi wa kuhani alikuja, na kumwambia aliyekuwa akitoa dhabihu, “Tenga nyama ya kuchoma kwa ajili ya kuhani; kwa sababu hataikubali ile ya kutokosa kutoka kwako, bali tu ile mbichi.”
Also, before any could make perfume with the fat, the priests young man would come in and say to the person who was sacrificing, Come! give flesh for the priest’s roastings, —for he will not take of thee boiled flesh—only raw.
16 Ikiwa mtu atamwambia, “Wachome mafuta kwanza, na kisha uchukue kiasi utakacho.” Ndipo angesema, “Hapana, utanipatia sasa hivi; la sivyo; Nitaichukua kwa lazima.”
And, if the man said to him, Let them at least, make incense, at once with the fat, then take thou as much as thy soul craveth, Then said he to him, But, at once, shalt thou give it; or else, I will take it by force.
17 Dhambi ya vijana hawa ilikuwa mbaya sana mbele za BWANA, kwa sababu waliidharau dhabihu ya BWANA.
And so it was, that, the sin of the young men, was exceeding great, before Yahweh, —for men scorned the offerings of Yahweh.
18 Lakini Samweli alimtumikia BWANA akiwa mdogo akivaa nguo ya naivera ya kitani.
But, as for Samuel, he was ministering before Yahweh, —a boy girded with an ephod of linen.
19 Kila mwaka mama yake alimtengenezea kanzu dogo na kumletea, wakati wakija na mmewe kutoa dhabihu ya kila mwaka.
Also, a little robe, used his mother to make for him, and bring it up to him, from year to year, —when she came up with her husband, to offer the sacrifice of the year.
20 Eli aliwabariki Elikana na mke wake na kusema, “BWANA akupatie watoto zaidi kwa mwanamke huyu kwa sababu ya ahadi yake aliyoitoa kwa BWANA.” Baadaye walirudi nyumbani kwao.
And Eli used to bless Elkanah and his wife, and to say—Yahweh give thee seed of this woman, instead of the loan that hath been lent unto Yahweh. So they went their way to his own place.
21 BWANA alimsaidia tena Hana, akawa amebeba mimba nyingine. Akazaa watoto watatu wa kiume na wa kike wawili. Wakati huo huo mtoto Samweli akakua akiwa mbele za BWANA.
And Yahweh visited Hannah, and she conceived, and bare three sons, and two daughters. Thus did the boy Samuel grow up with Yahweh.
22 Basi Eli alikuwa mzee sana, akayasikia yote ambayo watoto wake walikuwa wakiwafanyia Waisraeli wote, na jinsi walivyotembea na mwanamke aliyekuwa akitumika katika lango la hema ya kukutania.
Now, Eli, was very old, —but he used to hear all that his sons did unto all Israel, and how they even lay with the women who did service, at the opening of the tent of meeting.
23 Akawaambia, “Kwa nini mnafanya mambo hayo? Kwa maana nasikia matendo yenu maovu kutoka kwa watu hawa wote.”
So he said to them, Wherefore should ye do such things as these? for I keep hearing of your wicked doings, from all these people.
24 Sivyo hivyo, watoto wangu, maana hii ninayoisikia siyo taarifa njema. Mnawakosesha watu wa BWANA.
Nay, my sons! for it is no good report that I do hear: leading into transgression the people of Yahweh.
25 “Kama mtu mmoja akimkosea mwenzake, Mungu atamhukumu; Lakini mtu akimkosea BWANA, ni nani atakayemtetea mtu huyo?” Lakini hawakuitii sauti ya baba yao, sababu BWANA alinuia kuwaua.
If one man sin against another, God will interpose, but, if, against Yahweh, a man sin, who will intercede, for him? But they hearkened not unto the voice of their father, for Yahweh was pleased to put them to death.
26 Yule mtoto Samweli aliongezeka umri, na kupata kibali kwa BWANA na kwa watu pia.
But, the boy Samuel, went on growing in stature, and in favour, —both with Yahweh, and also with men.
27 Kisha mtu wa Mungu akamwendea Eli na kumwambia, “BWANA asema, 'Je, sikujifunua mwenyewe kwa nyumba ya baba zako, walipokuwa Misri utumwani nyumbani mwa Farao?
And there came a man of God, unto Eli, —and said unto him—Thus, saith Yahweh, I, did indeed reveal myself, unto the house of thy father, when they were in Egypt, as servants unto the house of Pharaoh;
28 Mimi nilimchagua yeye kutoka makabila yote ya Israeli awe kuhani wangu, apande madhabahuni kwangu, na kufukiza uvumba, na kuvaa kanzu ya naivera mbele yangu. Niliwapa nyumba ya baba zako dhabihu zote za wana wa Israeli zilizotolewa kwa moto.
choosing him out of all the tribes of Israel unto myself, to minister as priest, to offer upon mine altar, to perfume with incense to bear an ephod before me, —Therefore gave I unto the house of thy father all the altar-flames of the sons of Israel.
29 Kwanini basi, unaidharau dhabihu yangu na sadaka ambazo ninazitaka mahali ninapoishi? Kwanini unawaheshimu watoto wako kuliko mimi, kwa kujinenepesha ninyi wenyewe kwa uzuri wa kila sadaka ya watu wangu Israeli?'
Wherefore have ye been kicking at my sacrifices, and my presents, which I commanded, to serve for a home, —and shouldest have honoured thy sons more than me: fattening yourselves, with the first of every present of Israel, before me?
30 Maana, BWANA, Mungu wa Isareli, asema, niliahidi kwamba nyumba yako, na nyumba ya baba yako, yawapasa kwenda mbele zangu milele,' Lakini sasa BWANA asema. 'Mambo haya yapishe mbali. nami nisifanye hivi, maana nitawaheshimu wanaoniheshimu, bali wanaonidharau mimi hawatakuwa na thamani.
Hence, the oracle of Yahweh God of Israel, I, said, that, thy house, and the house of thy father, should go to and fro in my presence, unto times age-abiding: But, now, (is the oracle of Yahweh)—Be it far from me! For, them who honour me, will I honour, but, they who despise me, shall be lightly esteemed.
31 Tazama, siku zinakuja nitakapoondoa nguvu zako na nguvu za nyumba za baba yako, ili kwamba pasije kuwepo mtu mzee katika nyumba yako.
Lo! days are coming, when I will hew off thine arm, and the arm of the house of thy father, —that there shall be no elder in thy house;
32 Nawe utalitazama hangaiko katika makao yangu. Ingawa Israeli watapewa jambo jema, hapatakuwapo tena mtu yeyote mzee katika nyumba yako.
But thou shalt descry distress at home, in all that shall gladden Israel, —and there shall not be an elder in thine own house, all the days.
33 Yeyote miongoni mwenu nisiye mwondoa kutoka madhabahuni pangu, Nitasababisha macho yenu yaanguke, na ita nitasababisha huzuni maishani mwenu. Wanaume wote waliozaliwa katika familia yako watakufa.
But, any man of thine whom I may not cut off from mine altar, it shall be—to consume his eyes, and grieve his soul; Howbeit, all the multitude of thy house, shall die, by the sword of men.
34 Hii ndiyo itakuwa ishara kwako ambayo itawaijia watoto wako wakiume wawili, juu ya Hofni na Finehasi: Wote wawili watakufa siku moja.
And, this, for thee is the sign, which shall come upon thy two sons, upon Hophni and Phinehas, —In one day, shall they, both of them, die;
35 Nami nitamwinua juu kuhani wangu mwaminifu atakaye fanya kile kilichomo moyoni mwangu na nafisini mwangu. Nami nitamjengea nyumba madhubuti; naye atakwenda mbele ya mfalme wangu mbarikiwa milele.
And I will raise me up a faithful priest, According to that which is in my heart and in my soul, will he do; Therefore will I build for him an assured house, and he shall go to and fro in presence of mine Anointed, all the days.
36 Kila mmoja aliyebakia nyumbani mwako atakuja na kusujudu mbele ya mtu huyo, akiomba kipande cha fedha na mkate mmoja, naye atasema, “Tafadhali uniajiri katika moja ya nafasi za kuhani ili niweze kula kipande cha mkate'”'
And it shall be, that, any that is left in thy house, shall come bowing down to him for a small coin of silver, and for a cake of bread, and shall say: Appoint me, I pray thee, to one of the priestly offices, that I may eat a morsel of bread.
