Proverbios 4
1 Escucha, mis hijos, a la enseñanza de un padre; presta atención para que puedas tener conocimiento:
Hear, ye sons, the correction of a father, and attend, that ye may know understanding.
2 Porque te doy una buena enseñanza; no renuncies al conocimiento que recibes de mí.
For, good teaching, have I given you, mine instruction, do not ye forsake.
3 Porque yo era un hijo para mi padre, un gentil y único para mi madre.
For, a son, became I to my father, tender and most precious in the sight of my mother.
4 Y me dio enseñanza, diciéndome: Guarda mis palabras en tu corazón; guarda mis reglas para que puedas tener vida:
So he taught me, and said to me—Let thy heart, lay hold of my words, Keep my commandments and live!
5 Obtén sabiduría, obtén verdadero conocimiento; guárdelo en la memoria, no se aparte de las palabras de mi boca.
Acquire wisdom, acquire understanding, Do not forget, neither decline thou from the sayings of my mouth.
6 No la abandones, y ella te guardará; dale tu amor, y ella te hará a salvo.
Do not forsake her, and she will guard thee, —love her and she will keep thee.
7 El primer signo de sabiduría es obtener sabiduría; ve, da todo lo que tienes para obtener el verdadero conocimiento.
The principal thing, is wisdom, acquire thou wisdom, With all thine acquisition, acquire thou understanding.
8 Ponla en un lugar alto, y serás levantado por ella; Ella te dará honor cuando le des tu amor.
Exalt her, and she will set thee on high, she will bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her:
9 Ella pondrá una corona de gracia en tu cabeza, dándote un tocado de gloria.
She will give for thy head, a wreath of beauty, A crown of adorning, will she bestow upon thee.
10 Escucha, hijo mío, y deja que tu corazón se abra a mis palabras; y larga vida será tuya.
Hear, my son, and receive my sayings, and they will multiply to thee the years of life.
11 Te he dado la enseñanza en el camino de la sabiduría, guiando tus pasos en el camino recto.
In the way of wisdom, have I taught thee, I have guided thee in tracks of uprightness.
12 Cuando vayas, tu camino no será estrecho, y al correr no tendrás una caída.
When thou walkest, thy step shall not be hemmed in, and, if thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble.
13 Toma el aprendizaje en tus manos, no la dejes ir: mantenla, porque ella es tu vida.
Take fast hold of correction, let her not go, —keep her, for, she, is thy life.
14 No sigas el camino de los pecadores, ni andes en el camino de los hombres malos.
Upon the path of the lawless, do not thou enter, and do not advance in the way of the wicked:
15 Aléjate de él, no te acerques; se apartado de eso, y sigue tu camino.
Avoid it, do not pass thereon—turn from it, and depart.
16 Porque no descansan hasta que hayan hecho lo malo; se les quita el sueño si no han sido la causa de la caída de alguien.
For they sleep not, unless they can do mischief, —They rob themselves of their sleep, if they cannot cause someone to stumble,
17 El pan del mal es su alimento, el vino de los actos violentos su bebida.
For they consume bread gotten by lawlessness, and, wine obtained by violence, they drink.
18 Pero el camino de los justos es como la luz de la mañana, cada vez más brillante hasta el día completo.
But, the path of the righteous, is as the light of dawn, —going on and brightening, unto meridian day.
19 El camino de los pecadores es oscuro; ellos no ven la causa de su caída.
The way of the lawless, is like darkness, they know not, at what they stumble.
20 Hijo mío, presta atención a mis palabras; deja que tu oído se vuelva a mis dichos.
My son, to my words, attend, to my sayings, incline thou thine ear;
21 No deja que se aparten de tus ojos; mantenlos en lo profundo de tu corazón.
Let them not depart from thine eyes, keep them in the midst of thy heart;
22 Porque ellos son vida para el que los recibe, y fortaleza para toda su carne.
For, life, they are, to them who find them, —and, to every part of one’s flesh, they bring healing.
23 Y guarda tu corazón con todo cuidado; entonces tendrás vida.
Above all that must be guarded, keep thou thy heart, for, out of it, are the issues of life.
24 Aparta de ti una lengua mala, y que los labios falsos estén lejos de ti.
Remove from thee, perverseness of mouth, and, craftiness of lips, put far from thee.
25 Mantén tus ojos en lo recto, en lo que está frente a ti, mirando directamente hacia ti.
Let, thine eyes, right onward, look, —and, thine eyelashes, point straight before thee.
26 Vigila tu comportamiento; deja que todos tus caminos sean ordenados correctamente.
Make level the track of thy foot, that, all thy ways, may be directed aright:
27 No haya vuelta a la derecha ni a la izquierda, aparten sus pies del mal.
Decline not, to the right hand or to the left, —Turn away thy foot from wickedness.
