Génesis 1
1 Al principio Dios hizo el cielo y la tierra.
In the beginning, God created heaven and earth.
2 Y la tierra estaba desordenada y sin forma; y estaba oscuro sobre la faz del abismo: y el Espíritu de Dios se movía sobre la faz de las aguas.
But the earth was empty and unoccupied, and darknesses were over the face of the abyss; and so the Spirit of God was brought over the waters.
3 Y dijo Dios: Hágase la luz, y fué la luz.
And God said, “Let there be light.” And light became.
4 Y mirando Dios a la luz, vio que era buena; y Dios hizo una división entre la luz y la oscuridad,
And God saw the light, that it was good; and so he divided the light from the darknesses.
5 Nombrando la luz, el día y la oscuridad, la noche. Y hubo tarde y hubo mañana, el primer día.
And he called the light, ‘Day,’ and the darknesses, ‘Night.’ And it became evening and morning, one day.
6 Y dijo Dios: Haya un arco visible del cielo que se extiende sobre las aguas, separando las aguas de las aguas.
God also said, “Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide waters from waters.”
7 E hizo la tierra, Dios él Señor el arco visible del cielo para dividir entre las aguas que estaban debajo del arco y las que estaban sobre él; y fue así.
And God made a firmament, and he divided the waters that were under the firmament, from those that were above the firmament. And so it became.
8 Y Dios le dio al arco el nombre de Cielo. Y hubo tarde y hubo mañana, el segundo día.
And God called the firmament ‘Heaven.’ And it became evening and morning, the second day.
9 Y dijo Dios: Júntense las aguas debajo de los cielos en un lugar, y que se vea la tierra seca; y fue así.
Truly God said: “Let the waters that are under heaven be gathered together into one place; and let the dry land appear.” And so it became.
10 Y Dios dio a la tierra firme el nombre de la tierra; y las aguas juntas en su lugar fueron llamadas mares; y Dios vio que era bueno.
And God called the dry land, ‘Earth,’ and he called the gathering of the waters, ‘Seas.’ And God saw that it was good.
11 Y dijo Dios: que produzca hierba en la tierra, y plantas que produzcan semilla, y árboles frutales que dan fruto, en lo cual está su simiente, según su género; y fue así.
And he said, “Let the land spring forth green plants, both those producing seed, and fruit-bearing trees, producing fruit according to their kind, whose seed is within itself, over all the earth.” And so it became.
12 Y produjo hierba sobre la tierra, y toda planta que produce simiente de su género, y todo árbol que produce fruto, en el cual está su simiente, de su especie; y vio Dios que era bueno.
And the land brought forth green plants, both those producing seed, according to their kind, and trees producing fruit, with each having its own way of sowing, according to its species. And God saw that it was good.
13 Y fue la tarde y la mañana, el tercer día.
And it became evening and the morning, the third day.
14 Y dijo Dios: Haya luces en el arco del cielo, para división entre el día y la noche, y sean por señales, y para marcar los cambios del año, y por días y años;
Then God said: “Let there be lights in the firmament of heaven. And let them divide day from night, and let them become signs, both of the seasons, and of the days and years.
15 Y sean por lumbreras en el arco del cielo para alumbrar la tierra; y fue así.
Let them shine in the firmament of heaven and illuminate the earth.” And so it became.
16 E hizo Dios él Señor las dos grandes lámparas: la lumbrera mayor para ser la gobernante del día, y la lumbrera menor para ser el soberano de la noche; e hizo las estrellas.
And God made two great lights: a greater light, to rule over the day, and a lesser light, to rule over the night, along with the stars.
17 Y los puso Dios en el arco del cielo, para alumbrar la tierra;
And he set them in the firmament of heaven, to give light over all the earth,
18 para tener dominio sobre el día y la noche, y para una división entre la luz y la oscuridad: y Dios vio que era bueno.
and to rule over the day as well as the night, and to divide light from darkness. And God saw that it was good.
19 Y fue la tarde y la mañana, el cuarto día.
And it became evening and morning, the fourth day.
20 Y dijo Dios: Las aguas produzcan seres vivientes, y las aves vuelen sobre la tierra debajo del arco del cielo.
And then God said, “Let the waters produce animals with a living soul, and flying creatures above the earth, under the firmament of heaven.”
21 E hizo Dios grandes bestias de mar, y todo tipo de cosas vivas que las aguas producen, con las cuales se llenaron las aguas, y todo tipo de ave alada; y vio Dios que era bueno.
And God created the great sea creatures, and everything with a living soul and the ability to move that the waters produced, according to their species, and all the flying creatures, according to their kind. And God saw that it was good.
22 Y Dios les bendijo, diciendo: Sé fértil y multiplícate, llenando todas las aguas de los mares, y que las aves crezcan en la tierra.
And he blessed them, saying: “Increase and multiply, and fill the waters of the sea. And let the birds be multiplied above the land.”
23 Y fue la tarde y la mañana, el quinto día.
And it became evening and morning, the fifth day.
24 Y dijo Dios: La tierra dé a luz toda clase de seres vivientes, vacas y todo lo que se mueve sobre la tierra, y las bestias de la tierra según su género; y fue así.
God also said, “Let the land produce living souls in their kind: cattle, and animals, and wild beasts of the earth, according to their species.” And so it became.
25 Y Dios hizo las bestias de la tierra según su género, y el ganado según su género, y todo lo que se movía sobre la faz de la tierra según su género; y vio Dios que era bueno.
And God made the wild beasts of the earth according to their species, and the cattle, and every animal on the land, according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.
26 Y dijo Dios: Hagamos al hombre a nuestra imagen, como nosotros; y gobierne sobre los peces del mar, y sobre las aves del cielo, y sobre el ganado, y sobre toda la tierra, y sobre todo ser viviente. cosa que se arrastra en la tierra.
And he said: “Let us make Man to our image and likeness. And let him rule over the fish of the sea, and the flying creatures of the air, and the wild beasts, and the entire earth, and every animal that moves on the earth.”
27 E hizo Dios al hombre a su imagen, a imagen de Dios lo hizo; varón y hembra los hizo.
And God created man to his own image; to the image of God he created him; male and female, he created them.
28 Y Dios los bendijo, y les dijo: Sean fértiles y tengan más, y hagan que la tierra esté llena y sean dueños de ella; sean los gobernantes sobre los peces del mar y sobre las aves del aire y sobre todos los seres vivos que se mueven en la tierra.
And God blessed them, and he said, “Increase and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and the flying creatures of the air, and over every living thing that moves upon the earth.”
29 Y dijo Dios: Mira, yo te he dado toda planta que produce simiente sobre la faz de toda la tierra, y todo árbol que tiene fruto que da semilla; para tu alimento será;
And God said: “Behold, I have given you every seed-bearing plant upon the earth, and all the trees that have in themselves the ability to sow their own kind, to be food for you,
30 Y a toda bestia de la tierra, y a toda ave del cielo, y a todo ser viviente que se mueve sobre la faz de la tierra, he dado toda planta verde para alimento; y fue así.
and for all the animals of the land, and for all the flying things of the air, and for everything that moves upon the earth and in which there is a living soul, so that they may have these on which to feed.” And so it became.
31 Y vio Dios todo lo que había hecho, y fue muy bueno. Y hubo tarde y hubo mañana, el sexto día.
And God saw everything that he had made. And they were very good. And it became evening and morning, the sixth day.
