2 Crónicas 25
1 Amasías tenía veinticinco años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó en Jerusalén durante veintinueve años. El nombre de su madre fue Joadan de Jerusalén.
When twenty and five years old did Amazyahu become king, and twenty and nine years did he reign in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Yeho'addan of Jerusalem.
2 Hizo lo correcto ante los ojos del Señor, pero su corazón no era completamente fiel al Señor.
And he did what is right in the eyes of the Lord, yet not with an entire heart.
3 Y cuando se hizo fuerte en el reino, mató a aquellos hombres que habían tomado la vida del rey, su padre.
And it came to pass, when the kingdom was firmly established to him, that he slew his servants that had killed the king his father.
4 Pero él no mató a sus hijos, porque mantuvo las órdenes del Señor registradas en el libro de la ley de Moisés, diciendo: Los padres no deben ser condenados a muerte por sus hijos o los hijos por sus padres, pero un hombre debe ser condenado a muerte por el pecado que él mismo ha cometido.
But their children he put not to death; but [did] as it is written in the law in the book of Moses, that the Lord had commanded, saying, The fathers shall not die for the children, nor shall the children die for the fathers, but every man shall die for his own sin.
5 Entonces Amasías reunió a todo Judá y los ordenó a sus familias, incluso a todo Judá y Benjamín, bajo capitanes de miles y capitanes de cientos: y él tenía a los de veinte años o más, y vinieron a trescientos mil de los mejores combatientes, entrenados para la guerra y en el uso de la lanza y escudos.
And Amazyahu gathered Judah together, and stationed them after the family divisions, after the captains over the thousands, and after the captains over the hundreds, of all Judah and Benjamin; and he numbered them from twenty years old and upward, and found them [to be] three hundred thousand chosen men, able to go forth to the army, that could handle spear and shield.
6 Y por cien talentos de plata, él consiguió cien mil combatientes de Israel.
He hired also out of Israel one hundred thousand mighty men of valor for one hundred talents of silver.
7 Pero vino a él un hombre de Dios, que decía: Rey, no te acompañe el ejército de Israel; porque el Señor no está con Israel, es decir, los hijos de Efraín.
But a man of God came unto him, saying, O king, let not the army of Israel go with thee; for the Lord is not with Israel, [with] all the children of Ephraim.
8 Pero si quieres ir hazlo, y sé fuerte en la guerra; Dios te hará caer ante los que luchan contra ti; Dios tiene poder para dar ayuda o para derribar.
But if thou wilt go, [and be ever so] active [and] strong for the battle: God will cause thee to stumble before the enemy; for there is power with God to help, and to cause to stumble.
9 Entonces Amasías dijo al hombre de Dios: ¿Pero qué hacer con respecto a los cien talentos que he dado para la banda armada de Israel? Y el hombre de Dios en respuesta dijo: Dios puede darte mucho más que esto.
Then said Amazyahu to the man of God, But what is it to be done for the hundred talents which I have given to the band of Israel? And the man of God said, The Lord hath [enough in his power] to give thee much more than this.
10 Entonces, Amasías, separando las tropas armadas que había venido de Efraín, los envió de nuevo; Lo que los enojó mucho con Judá, y volvieron ardiendo de ira.
Then did Amazyahu separate them, [to wit, ] the band that was come to him out of Ephraim, that they might go to their place: wherefore their anger was greatly kindled against Judah, and they returned to their home in burning anger.
11 Entonces Amasías se animó, salió a la cabeza de su pueblo y fue al Valle de la Sal, donde mató a diez mil de los hijos de Seir;
And Amazyahu strengthened himself, and led forth his people, and went to the Valley of Salt, and smote of the children of Se'ir ten thousand [men].
12 Y diez mil más fueron apresados por los hijos de Israel, y los hicieron subir a la cima de la roca, empujandolos desde la cima de la roca para que sus cuerpos se rompieran por la caída.
And ten thousand did the children of Judah take captive alive, and brought them to the top of the rock, and cast them down from the top of the rock, so that they all were crushed.
13 Pero los hombres de la tropa que Amasías envió y no se llevaron a la lucha, atacaron las ciudades de Judá, desde Samaria hasta Bet-horon, y mataron a tres mil de sus habitantes y se los llevaron una gran cantidad de sus bienes.
But the men of the band whom Amazyahu had sent back, that they should not go with him to battle, spread themselves about in the cities of Judah, from Samaria even unto Beth-choron, and smote of them three thousand [persons], and plundered much spoil.
14 Cuando Amasías regresó de la destrucción de los edomitas, tomó a los dioses de los hijos de Seir y los convirtió en sus dioses, adorándolos y quemando ofrendas ante ellos.
And it came to pass, after Amazyahu was come home from smiting the Edomites, that he brought the gods of the children of Se'ir, and set them up unto himself as gods, and before them he used to prostrate himself and unto them he used to burn incense.
15 Y la ira del Señor se movió contra Amasías, y le envió un profeta que le dijo: ¿Por qué has ido tras los dioses de las personas que no le han dado la salvación a su propio pueblo de tus manos?
Wherefore the anger of the Lord was kindled against Amazyahu, and he sent unto him a prophet, who said unto him, Why hast thou sought after the gods of the people, that have not delivered their own people out of thy hand?
16 Pero mientras él le estaba hablando, el rey le dijo: ¿Te hemos convertido en uno de los consejeros del rey? No digas más, o será la causa de tu muerte. Entonces el profeta dejó de protestar y dijo: Me queda claro que el propósito de Dios es tu destrucción, porque has hecho esto y no has escuchado mis palabras.
And it came to pass, as he was speaking unto him, that he said unto him, Have we ever appointed thee as a counsellor to the king? forbear this: why shouldst thou be smitten? Then did the prophet forbear; and he said, I know that God hath resolved to destroy thee, because thou hast done this, and hast not hearkened unto my counsel.
17 Entonces Amasías, rey de Judá, siguiendo la sugerencia de sus siervos, envió a Joás, hijo de Joacaz, hijo de Jehú, rey de Israel, diciendo: Ven, tengamos una reunión cara a cara.
Then held Amazyahu the king of Judah a council, and sent to Joash, the son of Jehoachaz, the son of Jehu, the king of Israel, saying, Come, let us look one another in the face.
18 Entonces Joás, rey de Israel, envió a Amasías, rey de Judá, diciendo: El cardo envió al cedro del Líbano, diciendo: Da tu hija a mi hijo por esposa, pero una bestia pasó por bosques en el Líbano, aplastando al cardo bajo sus pies.
And Joash the king of Israel sent to Amazyahu the king of Judah, saying, The thorn-bush that was in the Lebanon sent to the cedar that was in the Lebanon, saying, Give thy daughter to my son for wife. And there passed along the wild beasts that were in the Lebanon, and trod down the thorn-bush.
19 Tú dices: Mira, yo he vencido a Edom; y tu corazón se enorgullece: ahora quédate en tu país; ¿Por qué causas problemas al ponerte a ti y a Judá en peligro de caída?
Thou hast thought, Lo, thou hast smitten Edom; and thy heart hath lifted thee up to acquire much glory: now stay in thy house; why wilt thou meddle with misfortune, that thou mayest fall, thou, and Judah with thee?
20 Pero Amasías no le prestó atención; y este era el propósito de Dios, para que él pudiera entregarlos a las manos de Joás, porque habían perseguido a los dioses de Edom.
But Amazyahu would not hear; for it was [ordained] by God, in order to deliver them into the hand [of Joash]; because they had sought after the gods of Edom.
21 Y así subió Joás, rey de Israel; y él y Amasías, rey de Judá, se encontraron cara a cara en Bet-semes en Judá.
Thereupon did Joash the king of Israel go up: and they looked one another in the face, he and Amazyahu the king of Judah, at Beth-shemesh, which belongeth to Judah.
22 Y Judá fue vencido delante de Israel, y huyeron, cada uno a su tienda.
And Judah was defeated before Israel, and they fled every man to his tents.
23 Entonces Joás, rey de Israel, hizo a Amasías, rey de Judá, hijo de Joás, hijo de Joacaz, prisionero en Bet-semes, y lo llevó a Jerusalén; y hizo que el muro de Jerusalén fuera derribado de la puerta de Efraín a la puerta en el ángulo, cuatrocientos codos.
And Joash the king of Israel caught Amazyahu the king of Judah, the son of Joash, the son of Jehoachaz, at Beth-shemesh; and he brought him to Jerusalem, and made a breach in the wall of Jerusalem, from the gate of Ephraim unto the corner-gate, four hundred cubits.
24 Y tomó todo el oro y la plata y todos los vasos que estaban en la casa del Señor, bajo el cuidado de Obed-edom, y todas las riquezas de la casa del rey, así como rehenes y volví a Samaria.
And [taking] all the gold and the silver, and all the vessels that were found in the house of God with 'Obed-edom, and the treasures of the king's house, and the children of the chiefs as hostages, he returned to Samaria.
25 Amasías, hijo de Joás, rey de Judá, continuó viviendo quince años después de la muerte de Joás, hijo de Joacaz, rey de Israel.
And Amazyahu the son of Joash the king of Judah lived after the death of Joash the son of Jehoachaz the king of Israel fifteen years.
26 Ahora, el resto de los actos de Amasías, comienzo y fin, están registrados en el libro de los reyes de Judá e Israel.
And the rest of the acts of Amazyahu the first and the last, behold, they are fully written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.
27 Desde el momento en que Amasías dejó de adorar al Señor, hicieron designios secretos contra él en Jerusalén; y se fue a huir a Laquis, pero enviaron a Laquis tras él y lo mataron allí.
Now from the time that Amazyahu departed from following the Lord, they raised a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem: wherefore he fled to Lachish; but they sent after him to Lachish, and slew him there.
28 Y tomaron su cuerpo a caballo y lo enterraron con sus padres en el pueblo de David.
And they carried him on horses, and buried him with his fathers in the city of Judah.
