1 Reyes 9

1 Cuando Salomón llegó al final de la construcción del templo del Señor y del palacio real, y de todos los deseos de Salomón que tenía en mente, se hicieron realidad,

And it came to pass, when Solomon had finished building the house of the Lord, and the king's house, and all Solomon's desire which he was pleased to execute:

2 El Señor volvió a él en una visión, como lo había hecho en Gabaón,

That the Lord appeared to Solomon the second time, as he had appeared unto him at Gib'on.

3 Y el Señor le dijo: Tus oraciones y tus súplicas han llegado a mis oídos: he santificado esta casa que has hecho, y he puesto mi nombre allí para siempre; Mis ojos y mi corazón estarán allí en todo momento.

And the Lord said unto him, I have heard thy prayer and thy supplication, that thou hast offered before me; I have hallowed this house, which thou hast built, to put my name there for ever; and my eyes and my heart shall be there at all times.

4 En cuanto a ti, si sigues tu camino delante de mí, como lo hizo David tu padre, con rectitud y con un corazón sincero, haciendo lo que te he ordenado hacer, guardando mis leyes y mis decisiones;

And as for thee, if thou wilt walk before me, as David thy father walked, in integrity of heart, and in rectitude, to do in accordance with all that I have commanded thee, [and] wilt keep my statutes and my ordinances:

5 Entonces estableceré el trono de tu gobierno sobre Israel, como le di mi palabra a David, tu padre, diciendo: Nunca estarás sin un hombre para ser rey en Israel.

Then will I establish the throne of thy kingdom over Israel for ever; as I have spoken concerning David thy father, saying, There shall never fail thee a man upon the throne of Israel.

6 Pero si te apartas de mis caminos, tú o tus hijos, y no guardas mis órdenes y las leyes que he puesto delante de ti, sino que van y se hacen siervos de otros dioses y les dan adoración:

But if ye will at all turn away, ye or your children, from following me, and will not keep my commandments [and] my statutes which I have set before you, and go and serve other gods, and bow down to them:

7 Entonces separaré a Israel de la tierra que les he dado; y esta casa, que he hecho santa para mí, la apartaré de mis ojos; e Israel será un ejemplo público, y una palabra de vergüenza entre todos los pueblos.

Then will I cut off Israel from the face of the land which I have given them; and the house, which I have hallowed unto my name, will I cast away from my sight; and Israel shall be a proverb and a by-word among all the nations;

8 Y este templo se convertirá en una masa de muros rotos, y todos los que pasen serán vencidos con asombro y harán sonidos de silbidos; y dirán: ¿Por qué ha hecho el Señor a esta tierra y a éste templo?

And at this house, [which] should be so exalted, every one that passeth by it shall be astonished, and shall hiss; and men will say, Why hath the Lord done thus unto this land, and unto this house?

9 Y su respuesta será: Porque abandonaron al Señor su Dios, que sacó a sus padres de la tierra de Egipto; ellos tomaron para sí otros dioses y los adoraron y se convirtieron en sus sirvientes: es por eso que el Señor ha enviado toda esta maldad sobre ellos.

And they shall say, For the cause that they forsook the Lord their God, who had brought forth their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and took hold of other gods, and bowed down to them, and served them: therefore hath the Lord brought upon them all this evil.

10 Y al cabo de veinte años, cuando Salomón había levantado las dos casas, el Templo del Señor y la casa del rey,

And it came to pass at the end of twenty years, when Solomon had built the two houses, the house of the Lord, and the king's house,

11 Hiram, rey de Tiro, le había dado a Salomón cedros, cipreses y oro, todo lo que necesitaba. El rey Salomón le dio a Hiram veinte ciudades en la tierra de Galilea.

(Now Hiram the king of Tyre had supplied Solomon with cedar-trees and fir-trees, and with gold, according to all his desire, ) that king Solomon then gave to Hiram twenty cities in the land of Galilee.

12 Pero cuando Hiram vino de Tiro para ver los pueblos que Salomón le había dado, él no se sintió satisfecho con ellos.

And Hiram came out from Tyre to see the cities which Solomon had given him; but they were not right in his eyes.

13 Y él dijo: ¿Qué clase de ciudades son estas que me diste, hermano mío? Así que fueron nombrados la tierra de Cabul, hasta el día de hoy.

And he said, What kind of cities are these which thou hast given me, my brother? And he called them, The land of Cabul, until this day.

14 Y Hiram envió al rey ciento veinte talentos de oro.

And Hiram sent to the king one hundred and twenty talents of gold.

15 Ahora, este es el motivo del tributo que el Rey Salomón impuso para la construcción de la casa del Señor y de la casa del rey, y el Terraplén, el muro de Jerusalén y Meguido y Gezer.

And this is the manner of the levy which king Solomon raised, to build the house of the Lord, and his own house, and the Millo, and the wall of Jerusalem, and Chazor, and Megiddo, and Gezer.

16 Faraón, rey de Egipto, vino y tomó a Gezer, quemándola y matando a los cananeos que vivían en la ciudad, y la dio como regalo de bodas a su hija, la esposa de Salomón.

(Pharaoh king of Egypt had gone up, and captured Gezer, and burnt it with fire, and slain the Canaanites that dwelt in the city, and given it as a marriage-present unto his daughter, Solomon's wife.

17 Y Salomón fue el reconstructor de Gezer y Bet-horon de abajo,

And Solomon built Gezer, and lower Beth-choron,

18 Y Baalat y Tamar en el desierto, de está tierra;

And Ba'alath, and Thadmor in the wilderness, in the land,

19 Y todos los pueblos donde tenía provisiones, y los pueblos que Salomón tenía para sus carros de guerra y para sus jinetes, y todo lo que deseaba construir en Jerusalén y en el Líbano y en toda la tierra bajo su gobierno.

And all the treasure-cities that Solomon had, and the cities for the chariots, and the cities for the horsemen, and the [other] desire of Solomon which he desired to build in Jerusalem, and in Lebanon, and in all the land of his dominion.)

20 En cuanto al resto de los amorreos, los hititas, los ferezeos, los heveos y los jebuseos, que no eran hijos de Israel;

All the people that were left of the Emorites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, who were not of the children of Israel,

21 Sus hijos que todavía estaban en la tierra, y a los que los hijos que Israel no habían podido destruir completamente, Salomón los hizo que trabajaran a trabajo forzado, hasta el día de hoy.

Their children that were left after them in the land, whom the children of Israel had not been able utterly to destroy, these did Solomon levy as tributary laborers until this day.

22 Pero Salomón no impuso a los hijos de Israel trabajos forzados; Sino que eran los hombres de guerra, sus sirvientes, sus príncipes, los capitanes de sus carros de guerra y sus jinetes.

Yet of the children of Israel did Solomon make no one a bond-man; but they were the men of war, and his servants, and his princes, and his captains, and the officers of his chariots, and of his horsemen.

23 Estos eran los jefes de los supervisores de la obra de Salomón, quinientos cincuenta, en autoridad sobre las personas que hacían la obra.

These [also] were the chiefs of the superintendents that were over Solomon's work, five hundred and fifty, who ruled over the people that wrought on the work.

24 En ese momento, Salomón hizo subir a la hija de Faraón de la ciudad de David a la casa que él había hecho para ella, luego hizo el terraplén.

But Pharaoh's daughter came up out of the city of David unto her house which he had built for her: then did he build the Millo.

25 Tres veces en el año fue el camino de Salomón para dar ofrendas quemadas y ofrendas de paz en el altar que había hecho al Señor, haciendo que su ofrenda de fuego subiera al altar delante del Señor.

And Solomon did offer three times in every year burnt-offerings and peace-offerings upon the altar which he had built unto the Lord, and he burnt incense upon the one that was before the Lord. So he finished the house.

26 Y el rey Salomón hizo una fuerza naval de barcos en Ezion-geber, por Elat, en el Mar Rojo, en la tierra de Edom.

And king Solomon made a ship in 'Ezyon-geber, which is near Eloth, on the shore of the Red Sea, in the land of Edom.

27 Hiram envió a sus siervos, que eran marineros experimentados, conocedores del mar con los hombres de Salomón.

And Hiram sent in the ship his servants, seamen, that had knowledge of the sea, with the servants of Solomon.

28 Fueron a Ofir, donde obtuvieron cuatrocientos veinte talentos de oro, y se la llevaron al rey Salomón.

And they came to Ophir, and fetched from there gold, four hundred and twenty talents, and brought it to king Solomon.
