San Mateo 6
1 Mirád que no hagáis vuestra limosna delante de los hombres, para que seáis mirados de ellos: de otra manera no tenéis galardón de vuestro Padre que está en los cielos.
But take heed that ye do not your righteousness before men, to be seen by them; otherwise ye have no reward with your Father who is in heaven.
2 Pues cuando haces limosna, no hagas tocar trompeta delante de ti, como hacen los hipócritas en las sinagogas, y en las plazas, para ser estimados de los hombres: de cierto os digo que ya tienen su galardón.
Therefore when thou doest alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Truly do I say to you, They have received their reward.
3 Mas cuando tú haces limosna, no sepa tu izquierda lo que hace tu derecha.
But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth;
4 Que sea tu limosna en secreto; y tu Padre, que ve en lo secreto, él te recompensará en lo público.
that thine alms may be in secret; and thy Father, who seeth in secret, will reward thee.
5 Y cuando orares, no seas como los hipócritas; porque ellos aman el orar en las sinagogas, y en las esquinas de las calles en pie; para que sean vistos. De cierto que ya tienen su galardón.
And when ye pray, ye shall not be as the hypocrites are; for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Truly do I say to you, They have received their reward.
6 Mas tú, cuando orares, entra en tu cámara, y cerrada tu puerta, ora a tu Padre que está en lo escondido; y tu Padre, que ve en lo escondido, te recompensará en lo público.
But do thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and, when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father who is in secret; and thy Father, who seeth in secret, will reward thee.
7 Y orando, no habléis inútilmente, como los paganos, que piensan que por su parlería serán oídos.
But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do; for they think that they shall be heard for the multitude of their words.
8 No os hagáis pues semejantes a ellos; porque vuestro Padre sabe de que cosas tenéis necesidad, antes que vosotros le pidáis.
Be not ye therefore like them; for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
9 Vosotros, pues, oraréis así: Padre nuestro, que estás en los cielos: sea santificado tu nombre.
After this manner therefore pray ye: —Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name;
10 Venga tu reino: sea hecha tu voluntad, como en el cielo, así también en la tierra.
thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven;
11 Dános hoy nuestro pan cotidiano.
give us this day our daily bread;
12 Y perdónanos nuestras deudas, como también nosotros perdonamos a nuestros deudores.
and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors;
13 Y no nos metas en tentación, mas líbranos de mal; porque tuyo es el reino, y el poder, y la gloria, por todos los siglos. Amén.
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
14 Porque si perdonareis a los hombres sus ofensas, os perdonará también a vosotros vuestro Padre celestial.
For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you;
15 Mas si no perdonareis a los hombres sus ofensas, tampoco vuestro Padre os perdonará vuestras ofensas.
but if ye do not forgive men, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
16 Y cuando ayunáis, no seáis como los hipócritas, austeros: que demudan sus rostros para parecer a los hombres que ayunan. De cierto os digo, que ya tienen su galardón.
Moreover, when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance; for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear to men to be fasting. Truly do I say to you, They have received their reward.
17 Mas tú, cuando ayunas, unge tu cabeza, y lava tu rostro,
But do thou, when thou fastest, anoint thy head, and wash thy face;
18 Para no parecer a los hombres que ayunas, sino a tu Padre que está en lo escondido; y tu Padre que ve en lo escondido, te recompensará en lo público.
that thou appear not to men to be fasting, but to thy Father who is in secret; and thy Father, who seeth in secret, will reward thee.
19 No hagáis tesoros en la tierra, donde la polilla y el orín corrompe, y donde ladrones minan, y hurtan;
Lay not up for yourselves treasures on earth, where the moth and rust consume, and where thieves break through and steal;
20 Mas hacéos tesoros en el cielo, donde ni polilla ni orín corrompe, y donde ladrones no minan, ni hurtan.
but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumeth, and where thieves do not break through nor steal.
21 Porque donde estuviere vuestro tesoro, allí estará vuestro corazón.
For where thy treasure is, there will thy heart be also.
22 La luz del cuerpo es el ojo: así que si tu ojo fuere sincero, todo tu cuerpo será luminoso.
The eye is the lamp of the body. If thine eye he clear, thy whole body will be in light;
23 Mas si tu ojo fuere malo, todo tu cuerpo será tenebroso. Así que si la luz que en ti hay, son tinieblas, ¿cuántas serán las mismas tinieblas?
but if thine eye be disordered, thy whole body will be in darkness. If then the light that is within thee is darkness, how great that darkness!
24 Ninguno puede servir a dos señores; porque o aborrecerá al uno, y amará al otro; o se llegará al uno, y menospreciará al otro. No podéis servir a Dios, y a las riquezas.
No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate one, and love the other; or else he will cleave to one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
25 Por tanto os digo: No os congojéis por vuestra vida, qué habéis de comer, o qué habéis de beber; ni por vuestro cuerpo, qué habéis de vestir. ¿La vida no es más que el alimento, y el cuerpo que el vestido?
Therefore I say to you, Be not anxious for your life, what ye shall eat; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than food, and the body than raiment?
26 Mirád a las aves del cielo, que no siembran, ni siegan, ni allegan en alfolíes; y vuestro Padre celestial las alimenta. ¿No sois vosotros mucho mejores que ellas?
Behold the birds of the air, that they sow not, nor reap, nor gather into barns; and your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are not ye of much greater value than they?
27 ¿Mas quién de vosotros, por mucho que se congoje, podrá añadir a su estatura un codo?
But who of you by anxious thought can add to his life one cubit?
28 Y por el vestido, ¿por qué os congojáis? Aprendéd de los lirios del campo, como crecen: no trabajan, ni hilan:
And why are ye anxious about raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow. They toil not, neither do they spin;
29 Mas os digo, que ni aun Salomón con toda su gloria fue vestido así como uno de ellos.
and yet I say to you, that not even Solomon in all his glory was arrayed like one of these.
30 Y si la yerba del campo, que hoy es, y mañana es echada en el horno, Dios la viste así, ¿no hará mucho más a vosotros, hombres de poca fe?
And if God so clothes the herbage of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is cast into an oven, will he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?
31 No os congojéis, pues, diciendo: ¿Qué comeremos, o qué beberemos, o con qué nos cubriremos?
Therefore be not anxious, saying, What shall we eat, or what shall we drink, or wherewith shall we he clothed?
32 (Porque los Gentiles buscan todas estas cosas; ) porque vuestro Padre celestial sabe que de todas estas cosas tenéis necesidad.
For after all these things do the gentiles seek; for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
33 Mas buscád primeramente el reino de Dios, y su justicia; y todas estas cosas os serán añadidas.
But seek first his kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will also be given you.
34 Así que, no os congojéis por lo de mañana; que el mañana traerá su congoja: basta al día su aflicción.
Be not then anxious about the morrow; for the morrow will be anxious about itself. Sufficient for the day is the evil thereof.
