Ezequiel 24

1 El año noveno, el mes décimo, a los diez días del mes, la Palabra de Yavé vino a mí:

Moreover, the word of Jehovah came to me in the ninth year, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, and said:

2 Hijo de hombre, escribe la fecha de este día, pues en este mismo día el rey de Babilonia sitió a Jerusalén.

Son of man, write the name of the day, even of this same day. The king of Babylon draweth near to Jerusalem this same day.

3 Habla una parábola a la casa rebelde: ʼAdonay Yavé dice: Pon la olla, colócala, y echa agua en ella.

Utter a parable to the rebellious house, and say to them, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Set on a caldron, set it on, and also pour water into it.

4 Echa los trozos que te pertenecen en ella: trozos selectos, la pierna y la espaldilla. Llénala de huesos escogidos.

Gather the pieces thereof into it, even every good piece, the thigh and the shoulder; fill it with the choice bones.

5 Toma lo mejor del rebaño. Apila la leña debajo de la olla para que hierva bien. Cocina sus huesos dentro de ella.

Take the choice of the flock, and make under it a pile for the bones, and make it boil well, that the bones therein may be seethed.

6 Pues ʼAdonay Yavé dice: ¡Ay de la ciudad sanguinaria, de la oxidada olla de cocinar cuyo óxido no despega! Vacíala poco a poco. No eches suerte sobre ella

Wherefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Woe to the city of blood, to the caldron in which is rust, and whose rust goeth not out of it! bring it out piece by piece; let no lot fall upon it.

7 porque su sangre está dentro de ella. La derramó sobre una roca lisa, no sobre la tierra para que el polvo la cubriera,

For blood is in the midst of her; upon the bare rock hath she shed it; she poured it not upon the ground, that it might be covered with dust.

8 a fin de causarme furor y llegue a vengarme. Yo puse su sangre en roca lisa para que no sea cubierta.

To cause fury and to take vengeance, I have set the blood shed by her upon the bare rock, that it might not be covered.

9 Por tanto ʼAdonay Yavé dice: ¡Ay de la ciudad sanguinaria! Yo también haré la hoguera grande.

Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Woe to the city of blood! Now will I make the pile for fire great.

10 Apilen la leña y enciendan el fuego para cocinar bien la carne. Cocinen la carne, hagan la salsa y quemen los huesos.

Heap on wood, kindle the fire, cook the flesh, put in spices, and let the bones be burned.

11 Luego pónganla vacía sobre las brasas para que el cobre se caliente y brille, su impureza se derrita y su óxido se consuma.

Then set it empty upon the coals, that its brass may be hot and may burn, and that its impurity may be dissolved in it, and its rust be consumed.

12 Pero vano es el esfuerzo, pues no salió de ella su mucho óxido. Solo en el fuego será consumido su óxido.

It hath wearied me with labors, yet its thick rust goeth not from it; its rust remaineth in the midst of the fire.

13 Hay perversidad en tu impureza, porque intenté purificarte, pero no estás purificada. No serás purificada de tu impureza hasta que Yo descargue mi furor sobre ti.

In thy filthiness is gross wickedness, because, when I would have cleansed thee, thou wouldst not be cleansed. Thou shalt not be cleansed from thy filthiness any more, till I have quieted my fury toward thee.

14 Yo, Yavé, hablé. Se cumplirá. Yo lo cumpliré. No retrocederé ni me compadeceré ni me pesará. Te juzgarán según tu conducta y según tus obras, dice ʼAdonay Yavé.

I, Jehovah, have spoken it; it shall come to pass, and I will do it. I will not go back, neither will I spare, neither will I repent. According to thy ways and according to thy doings shall they judge thee, saith the Lord Jehovah.

15 La Palabra de Yavé vino a mí:

Also the word of Jehovah came to me, saying:

16 Hijo de hombre, mira, voy a quitarte de golpe el deleite de tus ojos. No lamentes, ni llores, ni corran tus lágrimas.

Son of man, behold, I take away from thee the desire of thine eyes with one blow; yet thou shalt not mourn, nor weep, nor shall thy tears run down.

17 Gime en silencio, no hagas el lamento por los muertos, átate el turbante y ponte las sandalias en tus pies. No te cubras el labio ni comas pan de duelo.

Sigh thou in silence, make no mourning for the dead; bind thy head-dress upon thee, and thy shoes on thy feet; cover not thy lips, and eat not the bread of wretched men.

18 Por tanto hablé al pueblo por la mañana, y al llegar la noche murió mi esposa. En la mañana hice como me fue mandado.

So I spake to the people in the morning, and my wife died in the evening; and I did in the morning as I was commanded.

19 El pueblo me decía: ¿No nos dirás qué significan para nosotros estas cosas que haces?

And the people said to me, Wilt thou not tell us what those things which thou doest denote to us?

20 Y les contesté: La Palabra de Yavé vino a mí:

Then I answered them: The word of Jehovah came to me and said:

21 Dí a la Casa de Israel: ʼAdonay Yavé dice: Ciertamente voy a profanar mi Santuario, que es la exaltación, la fuerza de ustedes, el deseo de sus ojos y deleite de su alma. Sus hijos y sus hijas que queden caerán a espada.

Say to the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Behold, I will profane my sanctuary, the pride of your confidence, the desire of your eyes, and the longing of your souls; and your sons and daughters that are left to you shall fall by the sword.

22 Entonces harán lo que yo hice. No se cubrirán su labio, ni comerán pan de duelo.

And ye shall do as I have done; ye shall not cover your mouths, nor eat the bread of wretched men;

23 Sus turbantes estarán en sus cabezas y sus sandalias en sus pies. No lamentarán ni llorarán, sino desfallecerán en sus iniquidades y gemirán unos con otros.

and your head-dresses shall be upon your heads, and your shoes upon your feet; ye shall not mourn nor weep; but ye shall pine away for your iniquities, and moan one to another.

24 Ezequiel les servirá de señal. Ustedes harán todo lo que él hizo. Cuando esto ocurra, sabrán que Yo soy ʼAdonay Yavé.

Thus Ezekiel shall be to you a sign; according to all that he hath done shall ye do, when this cometh; and ye shall know that I am the Lord Jehovah.

25 Y tú, hijo de hombre, no estarás el día cuando Yo les quite su fortaleza, el gozo de su gloria, el deleite de sus ojos y el anhelo de sus almas y [cuando les quite] a sus hijos e hijas.

And thou, son of man, behold, in the day when I take from them their strength, the joy of their glory, the desire of their eyes, and the longing of their souls, their sons and their daughters, in that day shall one

26 Aquel día un fugitivo llegará a ti para comunicar la noticia a tus oídos.

that is escaped come to thee, to cause thee to hear it with thine ears.

27 Aquel día tu boca será abierta para hablar al fugitivo. Hablarás y ya no estarás mudo. Les servirás de señal. Y sabrán que Yo soy Yavé.

In that day shall thy mouth be opened to him that is escaped, and thou shalt speak, and be no more dumb; and thou shalt be a sign to them, and they shall know that I am Jehovah.
