1 Jakob je svojim sinovom zaklical in rekel: »Zberite se skupaj, da vam bom lahko povedal to, kar vas bo doletelo v poslednjih dneh.
Then called Jacob unto his sons, —and said—Gather yourselves together, and let me tell you, that which shall befall you in the afterpart of the days.
2 Zberite se skupaj in poslušajte, vi, Jakobovi sinovi in prisluhnite Izraelu, svojemu očetu.
Assemble yourselves and hear ye sons of Jacob, —And hearken unto Israel your father!
3 Ruben, ti si moj prvorojenec, moja mogočnost in začetek moje moči, odličnost dostojanstva in odličnost moči,
Reuben, my first-born, thou, My vigour, and the first-fruit of my strength, —Pre-eminence of elevation and pre-eminence of power:
4 nestabilen kakor voda, ti se ne boš odlikoval. Ker si odšel k postelji svojega očeta, takrat si jo omadeževal. Dvignil se je k mojemu ležišču.
Boiling over like water, thou mayest not have pre-eminence, Because thou didst mount the bed of thy father, —Then, wast thou profane—My marriage-bed, he mounted!
5 Simeon in Lévi sta brata, sredstva krutosti so v njunih prebivališčih.
Simeon and Levi, are brethren, —Instruments of violence, are their agreements:
6 Oh moja duša, ne pridi v njuno skrivnost, v njun zbor, moja čast, ne bodi združena, kajti v svoji jezi sta usmrtila človeka in v svoji svojevoljnosti sta spodkopala zid.
Into their circle, do not thou enter my soul! In their convocation, do not thou join mine honour! For in their anger, they slew brave men, And in their wantonness, they ham-strung oxen.
7 Prekleta bodi njuna jeza, kajti bila je kruta in njun srd, kajti bil je neizprosen. Razdelil ju bom v Jakobu in razkropil v Izraelu.
Accursed, be their anger, because fierce, And their wrath because cruel, —I divide them in Jacob, And I disperse them in Israel.
8 Juda, ti si ta, ki ga bodo tvoji bratje hvalili. Tvoja roka bo na vratu tvojih sovražnikov, otroci tvojega očeta se bodo priklanjali pred teboj.
Judah, as for thee, thy brethren shall praise thee when thy hand is on the neck of thy foes, —The sons of thy father, shall bow them-selves down to thee:
9 Juda je levji mladič. Od plena, moj sin, si se dvignil. Sklonil se je, ležal kakor lev in kakor star lev; kdo ga bo prebudil?
A lion’s whelp, is Judah, From the prey, my son hast thou come up! He hath stooped—hath crouched As a lion—or as a lioness, Who shall rouse him?
10 Žezlo ne bo odšlo od Juda niti palica zakona izmed njegovih stopal, dokler ne pride Šilo in k njemu bo zbiranje ljudstva.
The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, Nor the commander’s staff from between his feet, —Until that he come in as a Shiloh, And, his, be the obedience of the peoples:
11 Privezujoč svojega oslička k trti in svojega osličjega žrebeta k izbrani trti, je svoje obleke opral v vinu in svoja oblačila v krvi grozdnih jagod.
Binding, to the vine, his ass, And to the choice vine his ass’s colt, He hath washed in wine his raiment, And in the blood of grapes, his mantle:
12 Njegove oči bodo rdeče od vina in njegovi zobje beli od mleka.
Darker—his eyes, than wine, —Whiter—his teeth than milk!
13 Zábulon bo prebival pri morskem zavetju in bo za zavetje ladjam in njegova meja bo do Sidóna.
Zebulon, by a haven of seas, shall he settle down, —Even he, by a haven of ships, With his utmost part upon Zidon.
14 Isahár je močan osel, počivajoč med dvema bremenoma.
Issachar, an ass of strength, —couching between the pens;
15 Videl je, da je bil počitek dober in da je bila dežela prijetna in sklonil svojo ramo, da prenaša in postal služabnik davku.
Then beholdeth he rest, that it is good, And the ground that it is pleasant, —So he bendeth his shoulder to bear, And becometh a tributary servant.
16 Dan bo sodil svoje ljudstvo kakor enega izmed Izraelovih rodov.
Dan, shall vindicate his people, —as one of the tribes of Israel;
17 Dan bo kača ob poti, gad na stezi, ki piči konjska kopita, tako da bo njegov jezdec padel vznak.
It cometh to pass that, Dan, is a serpent upon the way, A horned viper, upon the path, —That biteth the heels of the horse, And his rider falleth backwards: —
18 Pričakoval sem tvojo rešitev duše, oh Gospod.
For thy salvation, have I waited O Yahweh!
19 Gad, krdelo ga bo premagalo, toda nazadnje bo on premagal.
Gad! a troop shall troop on him, —But, he, shall troop on the rear.
20 Iz Aserja bo njegov kruh zajeten in oskrboval bo kraljeve slaščice.
Out of Asher, fatness, is his food, —So, he, setteth forth dainties for a king.
21 Neftáli je spuščena košuta. On daje ljubke besede.
Naphtali, is a slender hind, —That putteth forth antlers of beauty.
22 Jožef je rodovitna veja, rodovitna veja pri vodnjaku, čigar mladike segajo preko zidu.
A fruitful bough, is Joseph, A fruitful bough over a fountain, —Branches creeping over a wall.
23 Lokostrelci so ga boleče užalostili, streljali nanj in ga sovražili.
So they attack him and have shot, —So they enclose him, do the masters of arrows.
24 Toda njegov lok je ostal v moči in lakti njegovih rok so bili okrepljeni z rokami mogočnega Jakobovega Boga (od tam je pastir, Izraelov kamen),
But abideth, as an enduring one, his bow, And supple are the arms of his hands, —From the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob, From thence, is the Shepherd the Stone of Israel:
25 celó z Bogom svojih očetov, ki ti bo pomagal in z Vsemogočnim, ki te bo blagoslovil z blagoslovi z neba od zgoraj, blagoslovi iz globine, ki leži spodaj, blagoslovi prsi in maternice.
From the GOD of thy father who doth help thee And GOD Almighty who doth bless thee, Blessings of the heavens, above, Blessings of the abyss, couching beneath, —Blessings of breasts and womb:
26 Blagoslovi tvojega očeta so prevladali nad blagoslovi mojih prednikov do skrajne meje večnih hribov. Ti bodo na Jožefovi glavi in na têmenu tistega, ki je bil ločen od svojih bratov.
The blessings of thy father, have prevailed, Over the blessings of the perpetual mountains, The charm of the age-abiding hills, —They turn out to be, for the head of Joseph, And for the crown of the head of him who was set apart from his brethren.
27 Benjamin bo ropal kakor volk. Zjutraj bo požrl plen, ponoči pa bo razdelil ukradeno blago.«
Benjamin a wolf that teareth in pieces, In the morning, he eateth prey, And at eventide, he divideth spoil.
28 Vsi ti so dvanajsteri Izraelovi rodovi in to je to, kar jim je njihov oče govoril in jih blagoslovil; vsakega glede na svoj blagoslov jih je blagoslovil.
All these, are the twelve tribes of Israel, —And this, is that which their father spake to them when he blessed them, Each man severally according to the blessing wherewith he blessed them.
29 Zapovedal jim je in jim rekel: »Jaz bom zbran k svojemu ljudstvu. Pokopljite me z mojimi očeti v votlini, ki je na polju Hetejca Efróna,
Then commanded he them and said unto them—I, am about to be gathered unto my people, Bury me among my fathers, —within the cave, that is in the field of Ephron the Hittite:
30 v votlini, ki je na polju Mahpéli, ki je pred Mamrejem, v kánaanski deželi, ki jo je Abraham kupil s poljem Hetejca Efróna za posest in grobišče.
in the cave that is in the field of Machpelah which is over against Mamre, in the land of Canaan, —which Abraham bought, along with the field, from Ephron the Hittite for a possession of a buryingplace: —
31 Tam so pokopali Abrahama in njegovo ženo Saro, tam so pokopali Izaka in njegovo ženo Rebeko, in tam sem pokopal Leo.
There, buried they Abraham, and Sarah his wife, There, buried they Isaac, and Rebekah his wife, —And there, buried I Leah: —
32 Nakup polja in votline, ki je na njem, je bil od Hetovih otrok.«
buying the field and the cave that is therein, from the sons of Heth.
33 Ko je Jakob naredil konec zapovedovanju svojim sinovom, je svoja stopala dvignil v posteljo, izročil duha in bil zbran k svojemu ljudstvu.
So Jacob made an end of commanding his sons, and gathered up his feet into the couch, —and ceased to breathe and was gathered unto his people.
