1 Vatariri vari pakati penyu ndinovakurudzira, vandiri mutariri pamwe navo nechapupu chematambudziko aKristu, nemugovani wekubwinya kuchazoratidzwa.
The elders among you I exhort, who am a fellow-elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, who am also a sharer in the glory that is to be revealed;
2 Fudzai boka raMwari riri pakati penyu, muchitaridzira, kwete nekurovererwa asi nekuda, kwete nekuda kwekukarira fuma yakaipa, asi nechido,
tend the flock of God which is among you, overseeing it, not by constraint, but willingly; not for base gain, but with ready mind;
3 kana kuva semadzishe pane vamakagoverwa, asi muri mifananidzo yeboka.
not as lording it over your allotted charge, but being examples to the flock;
4 Zvino Mufudzi mukuru paachaonekwa muchagamuchira korona yekubwinya isingabvuruvari.
and when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye will receive the crown of glory that fadeth not away.
5 Saizvozvo, vadiki, zviisei pasi pevakuru, uye mese muzviise pasi umwe kune mumwe, mupfekedzwe nekuzvininipisa, nokuti Mwari anopikisa vanozvikudza, asi anopa nyasha vanozvininipisa.
In like manner, ye younger men, submit yourselves to the elder; and all of you be clothed with humility toward each other; for “God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace to the humble.”
6 Naizvozvo zvininipisei pasi peruoko rwune simba rwaMwari, kuti akukudzei panguva yakafanira,
Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time;
7 muchikandira pamusoro pake kufunganya kwenyu kwese, nokuti iye ane hanya nemwi.
casting all your care upon him, because he careth for you.
8 Svinurai, rindai, nokuti mupikisi wenyu dhiabhorosi, seshumba inoomba anofamba-famba achitsvaka waangapedza;
Be sober, be watchful. Your adversary the Devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour;
9 mumupikise makasimba parutendo, muchiziva kuti matambudziko iwawo anozadziswa kuhama dzenyu dziri panyika.
whom resist, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are being accomplished in your brethren in the world.
10 Asi Mwari wenyasha dzese, iye wakatidanira mukubwinya kwake kusingaperi muna Kristu Jesu, kana tatambudzika chinguvana, iye anokupedzeredzai nekukutsigisai, nekukupai simba, nekukuteyai. (aiōnios g166)
But the God of all grace, who called you to his everlasting glory in Christ Jesus, will, after ye have suffered a while, himself make you perfect, establish, strengthen, settle you. (aiōnios g166)
To him be the dominion for ever. Amen. (aiōn g165)
12 NaSirivhano hama yakatendeka kwamuri, pakufunga kwangu, ndanyora nepadiki, ndichikurudzira nekupupura kuti idzi ndidzo nyasha dzechokwadi dzaMwari, dzamumire madziri.
By Silvanus, the faithful brother as I think, I have written to you in few words, exhorting, and testifying that this is the true grace of God wherein ye stand.
13 Kereke iri muBhabhironi yakasarudzwa pamwe nemwi inokukwazisai, naMariko mwanakomana wangu.
The church in Babylon, chosen with you, saluteth you; and Mark, my son.
14 Kwazisanai nekutsvoda kwerudo. Rugare kwamuri mese muri muna Kristu Jesu. Ameni.
