< Joshua 10 >

1 Zvino Adhoni-Zedheki mambo weJerusarema akanzwa kuti Joshua akanga atora Ai akariparadza zvachose, akaitira Ai namambo waro sezvaakanga aitira Jeriko namambo wayo, uye kuti vanhu veGibheoni vakanga vaita sungano yorugare navaIsraeri uye kuti vaigara pedyo navo.
Now it came to pass, when Adoni-zedek, the king of Jerusalem heard that Joshua had captured 'Ai, and had utterly destroyed it; [that] as he had done to Jericho and its king, so had he done to 'Ai and its king; and that the inhabitants of Gib'on had made peace with Israel, and were in the midst of them:
2 Iye navanhu vake vakavhundutswa kwazvo nazvo, nokuti Gibheoni rakanga riri guta guru, rakaita serimwe ramaguta oumambo; rakanga riri guru kupfuura Ai, uye varume varo vose vaiva mhare pakurwa.
That they were greatly afraid; because Gib'on was a great city, like one of the royal cities, and because it was greater than 'Ai, and all the men thereof were mighty.
3 Naizvozvo Adhoni-Zedheki mambo weJerusarema akatuma nhume kuna Hohani mambo weHebhuroni, nokuna Piramu mambo weJarumuti, nokuna Jafia mambo weRakishi nokuna Dhebhiri mambo weEgironi.
Therefore Adoni-zedek the king of Jerusalem sent unto Hoham the king of Hebron, and unto Piram the king of Yarmuth, and unto Yaphia', the king of Lachish, and unto Debir the king of 'Eglon, saying,
4 Akati, “Uyai kuno mundibatsire kurwisa Gibheoni, nokuti vakaita sungano yorugare naJoshua navaIsraeri.”
Come up unto me, and help me, that we may smite Gib'on; for it hath made peace with Joshua and with the children of Israel.
5 Ipapo madzimambo mashanu avaAmori, madzimambo eJerusarema, neHebhuroni, neJarumuti, neRakishi neEgironi, vakaunganidza varwi vavo. Vakaenda nehondo dzavo dzose vakavaka musasa pamberi peGibheoni, vakairwisa.
And the five kings of the Emorites, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Yarmuth, the king of Lachish, the king of 'Eglon, assembled themselves together, and went up, they and all their camps, and encamped before Gib'on, and made war against it.
6 Zvino vaGibheoni vakatuma nhume kuna Joshua kumusasa waiva paGirigari, vachiti, “Musasiya henyu varanda venyu. Uyai kuno kwatiri nokukurumidza muzotiponesa! Tibatsirei, nokuti madzimambo ose avaAmori vanogara munyika yamakomo vaungana kuti vatirwise.”
And the men of Gib'on sent unto Joshua to the camp to Gilgal, saying, Do not withdraw thy hand from thy servants: come up to us quickly, and save us, and help us; for all the kings of the Emorites that dwell in the mountains are assembled together against us.
7 Naizvozvo Joshua akafamba achibva paGirigari, iye navarwi vose vaaiva navo, navarume vose vesimba noumhare.
And Joshua went up from Gilgal, he, and all the people of war with him, and all the mighty men of valor.
8 Jehovha akati kuna Joshua, “Usavatya; ndavaisa mumaoko ako. Hapana kana mumwe wavo achagona kumira pamberi pako.”
And the Lord said unto Joshua, Be not afraid of them; for into thy hand have I delivered them: there shall not stand a man of them before thee.
9 Naizvozvo Joshua akavarwisa vasingafungiri, shure kwokunge afamba achibva kuGirigari usiku hwose.
And Joshua came unto them suddenly; the whole night he went up from Gilgal.
10 Zvino Jehovha akaita kuti vavhunduke pamberi pavaIsraeri, avo vakavauraya nokuuraya kukuru paGibheoni, vakavadzingirira nenzira inoenda kuBheti Horoni, vakavaparadza kusvikira kuAzeka nokuMakedha.
And the Lord brought them in confusion before Israel, and they smote them with a great slaughter at Gib'on, and pursued them by the way of the ascent to Beth-choron, and smote them up to 'Azekah, and up to Makkedah.
11 Pavaitiza pamberi pavaIsraeri nenzira yaidzika kubva kuBheti Horoni ichienda kuAzeka, Jehovha akakanda pamusoro pavo matombo makuru akanga achibva kudenga, vazhinji vavo vakafa nechimvuramabwe kupfuura avo vakaurayiwa neminondo yavaIsraeri.
And it came to pass, as they fled from before Israel, while they were in the declivity of Beth-choron, that the Lord cast down upon them great stones from heaven, up to 'Azekah, and they died: there were more who died by means of the hailstones than those whom the children of Israel had slain with the sword.
12 Pazuva iro Jehovha akapa vaAmori kuvaIsraeri, Joshua akati kuna Jehovha pamberi pavaIsraeri: “Iwe zuva, mira pamusoro peGibheoni, Iwe mwedzi, pamusoro pemupata weAijaroni.”
Then spoke Joshua to the Lord on the day when the Lord delivered up the Emorites before the children of Israel, and he said before the eyes of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gib'on; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ayalon.
13 Naizvozvo zuva rakamira, nomwedziwo ukamira, kusvikira rudzi rwatsiva vavengi varwo, sezvazvakanyorwa muBhuku raJashari. Zuva rakamira pakati pedenga rikanonoka kuvira kwenguva ingaita zuva rose.
And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Yashar? And the sun stood still in the midst of the heavens, and hastened not to go down about a whole day.
14 Hakuna kumboita zuva rakaita seiri nguva yakapfuura kana yakatevera, pazuva iri Jehovha akateerera munhu. Zvirokwazvo Jehovha akanga achirwira Israeri!
And there was no day like that before it or after it, that the Lord hearkened unto the voice of a man; for the Lord fought for Israel.

And Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, unto the camp to Gilgal.

And Joshua said, Roll great stones to the mouth of the cave, and set men over it to guard them;
19 Asi musamira! Teverai vavengi venyu, muvarwise necheshure kwavo uye musavarega vachisvika kumaguta avo, nokuti Jehovha Mwari wenyu avapa mumaoko enyu.”
But you, do ye not stay, pursue after your enemies, and smite the hindmost of them: suffer them not to enter into their cities; for the Lord your God hath delivered them into your hand.
20 Naizvozvo Joshua navaIsraeri vakavaparadza zvachose, asi vashoma vavo vakasara vakasvika kumaguta avo akavakirwa masvingo.
