Приче Соломонове 16
1 Човек спрема срце, али је од Господа шта ће језик говорити.
The plans of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from Adonai.
2 Човеку се сви путеви његови чине чисти, али Господ испитује духове.
All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but Adonai weighs the motives.
3 Остави на Господа дела своја, и биће тврде намере твоје.
Commit your deeds to Adonai, and your plans shall succeed.
4 Господ је створио све сам за се, и безбожника за зли дан.
Adonai has made everything for its own end— yes, even the wicked for the day of evil.
5 Мрзак је Господу ко је год поноситог срца, и неће остати без кара ако ће и друге узети у помоћ.
Everyone who is proud in heart is an abomination to Adonai: they shall certainly not be unpunished.
6 Милошћу и истином очишћа се безакоње, и страхом Господњим уклања се човек ода зла.
By chesed ·loving-kindness· and truth depravity (moral evil) is atoned for. By the fear of Adonai men depart from evil.
7 Кад су чији путеви мили Господу, мири с њим и непријатеље његове.
When a man’s ways please Adonai, he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.
8 Боље је мало с правдом него много доходака с неправдом.
Better is a little with righteousness, than great revenues with lo'mishpat ·injustice·.
9 Срце човечије измишља себи пут, али Господ управља кораке његове.
A man’s heart plans his course, but Adonai directs his steps.
10 Пророштво је на уснама царевим, у суду неће погрешити уста његова.
Inspired charges are on the lips of the king. His mouth shall not betray his judgments.
11 Мерила и потези прави од Господа су, и све камење у тобоцу његово је дело.
Mishpat ·Honest· balances and scales are Adonai’s; all the weights in the bag are his work.
12 Гадно је царевима чинити неправду, јер се правдом утврђује престо.
It is an abomination for kings to do ethical wickedness, for the throne is established by righteousness.
13 Миле су царевима усне праведне, и они љубе оног који говори право.
Righteous lips are the delight of kings. They 'ahav ·affectionately love· one who speaks the truth.
14 Гнев је царев гласник, али мудар човек ублажиће га.
The king’s wrath is a messenger of death, but a wise man will pacify it.
15 У веселу је лицу царевом живот, и љубав је његова као облак с позним даждем.
In the light of the king’s face is life. His favor is like a cloud of the spring rain.
16 Колико је боље тећи мудрост него злато! И тећи разум колико је лепше него сребро!
How much better it is to get wisdom than gold! Yes, to get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver.
17 Пут је праведних уклањање ода зла; чува душу своју ко пази на пут свој.
The highway of the upright is to depart from evil. He who keeps his way preserves his soul.
18 Охолост долази пред погибао, и поносит дух пред пропаст.
Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.
19 Боље је бити понизног духа с кроткима него делити плен с охолима.
It is better to be of a lowly spirit with the poor, than to divide the plunder with the proud.
20 Ко пази на реч, налази добро, и ко се узда у Господа, благо њему.
He who heeds the Word finds prosperity. Whoever trusts in Adonai is blessed.
21 Ко је мудрог срца, зове се разуман, а сласт на уснама умножава науку.
The wise in heart shall be called prudent. Pleasantness of the lips promotes instruction.
22 Извор је животу разум онима који га имају, а наука безумних безумље је.
Understanding is a fountain of life to one who has it, but the punishment of fools is their folly.
23 Срце мудрога разумно управља устима његовим, и додаје науку уснама његовим.
The heart of the wise instructs his mouth, and adds learning to his lips.
24 Љубазне су речи саће меда, сласт души и здравље костима.
Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.
25 Неки се пут чини човеку прав, а крај му је пут к смрти.
There is a way which seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.
26 Ко се труди себи се труди, јер га нагоне уста његова.
The appetite of the laboring man labors for him; for his mouth urges him on.
27 Човек неваљао копа зло, и на уснама му је као огањ који пали.
A worthless man devises mischief. His speech is like a scorching fire.
28 Опак човек замеће свађу, и опадач раставља главне пријатеље.
A perverse man stirs up strife. A whisperer separates close friends.
29 Насилник мами друга свог и заводи га на пут који није добар;
A man of violence entices his neighbor, and leads him in a way that is not good.
30 Намигује очима, кад мисли наопако; кад миче уснама, чини зло.
One who winks his eyes to plot perversities, one who compresses his lips, is bent on evil.
31 Седа је коса славна круна, налази се на путу праведном.
Gray hair is a crown of glory. It is attained by a life of righteousness.
32 Бољи је спор на гнев него јунак, и господар од свог срца бољи је него онај који узме град.
One who is slow to anger is better than the mighty; one who rules his spirit, than he who takes a city.
33 Ждреб се баца у крило, али је од Господа све што излази.
The lot is cast into the lap, but its every mishpat ·decision· is from Adonai.
