Amos 4
1 Ascultați acest cuvânt, voi, vaci din Basan, care [sunteți] pe muntele Samariei care asupriți pe săraci, care zdrobiți pe nevoiași, cele ce spun stăpânilor lor: Aduceți și să bem.
Listen to this word, you cows of Bashan, you who are in the mountain of Samaria, you who oppress the poor, you who crush the needy, you who say to your husbands, “Bring us drinks.”
2 Domnul DUMNEZEU a jurat pe sfințenia sa, că, iată, vor veni zilele asupra voastră, în care el vă va duce cu cârlige și posteritatea voastră cu cârlige pentru pești.
The Lord Yahweh has sworn by his holiness, “Look, the days will come on you when they will take you away with hooks, the last of you with fishhooks.
3 Și veți ieși la spărturi, fiecare drept înaintea sa; și veți arunca [vacile] în palat, spune DOMNUL.
You will go out through the breaks in the city wall, each one of you going straight through it, and you will be thrown out toward Harmon —this is Yahweh's declaration.”
4 Veniți la Betel și încălcați legea; la Ghilgal înmulțiți fărădelegea; și aduceți sacrificiile voastre în fiecare dimineață și zeciuielile voastre după trei ani;
“Go to Bethel and sin, to Gilgal and multiply sin, bring your sacrifices every morning, your tithes every three days.
5 Și oferiți un sacrificiu de mulțumire cu dospeală și rostiți și vestiți ofrande de bunăvoie, pentru că aceasta vă place, copii ai lui Israel, spune Domnul DUMNEZEU.
Offer a thanksgiving sacrifice with bread; proclaim freewill offerings; announce them, for this pleases you, you people of Israel —this is the declaration of the Lord Yahweh.
6 Și eu v-am dat de asemenea curăție a dinților în toate cetățile voastre și lipsă de pâine în toate locurile voastre; totuși nu v-ați întors la mine, spune DOMNUL.
I gave you cleanness of teeth in all your cities and lack of bread in all your places. Yet you have not returned to me —this is Yahweh's declaration.
7 Și de asemenea am oprit ploaia de la voi, când mai erau doar trei luni până la seceriș; și am făcut să plouă peste o cetate și am făcut să nu plouă peste altă cetate; peste o bucată a plouat și bucata peste care nu a plouat, s-a uscat.
I also withheld rain from you when there were still three months to the harvest. I caused it to rain on one city, and caused it not to rain on another city. One piece of land was rained on, but the piece of land where it did not rain dried up.
8 Astfel, două sau trei cetăți rătăceau spre o singură cetate, pentru a bea apă, dar nu s-au săturat; totuși nu v-ați întors la mine, spune DOMNUL.
Two or three cities staggered to another city to drink water, but were not satisfied. Yet you have not returned to me —this is Yahweh's declaration.
9 V-am lovit cu tăciune în grâu și cu mană, când grădinile voastre și viile voastre și smochinii voștri și măslinii voștri s-au înmulțit, forfecarul le-a mâncat; totuși nu v-ați întors la mine, spune DOMNUL.
I afflicted you with blight and mildew. The multitude of your gardens, your vineyards, your fig trees, and your olive trees— the locusts devoured them all. Yet you have not returned to me —this is Yahweh's declaration.
10 Am trimis printre voi ciuma, după felul [celei din] Egipt; pe tinerii voștri i-am ucis cu sabia și v-am luat caii; și am făcut să se ridice putoarea în taberele voastre până la nările voastre; totuși nu v-ați întors la mine, spune DOMNUL.
I sent a plague on you as on Egypt. I killed your young men with the sword, carried away your horses, and made the stench of your camp come up to your nostrils. Yet you have not returned to me —this is Yahweh's declaration.
11 Am doborât pe unii dintre voi, cum a dărâmat Dumnezeu Sodoma și Gomora, și ați fost ca un tăciune smuls din foc; totuși nu v-ați întors la mine, spune DOMNUL.
I overthrew cities among you, as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah. You were like a burning stick snatched out of the fire. Yet you have not returned to me —this is Yahweh's declaration.
12 De aceea astfel îți voi face, Israele; și pentru că îți voi face astfel, pregătește-te să întâlnești pe Dumnezeul tău, Israele.
Therefore I will do something terrible to you, Israel; and because I will do something terrible to you, prepare to meet your God, Israel!
13 Căci, iată, cel care formează munții și creează vântul și vestește omului care este gândul lui, care face dimineață întuneric și calcă pe înălțimile pământului, DOMNUL, Dumnezeul oștirilor, acesta este numele lui.
For, look, he who forms the mountains also creates the wind, reveals his thoughts to mankind, makes the morning darkness, and treads on the high places of the earth. Yahweh, God of hosts, is his name.”
