2 Crônicas 32
1 Depois destas coisas e desta fidelidade, Senaqueribe, rei da Assíria, veio, entrou em Judá, acampou contra as cidades fortificadas, e pretendia ganhá-las para si mesmo.
After these things and this truth, Sennacherib king of Asshur has come, indeed, he comes to Judah, and encamps against the cities of the bulwarks, and says to break into them himself.
2 Quando Ezequias viu que Senaqueribe tinha vindo, e que planejava lutar contra Jerusalém,
And Hezekiah sees that Sennacherib has come, and his face [is] to the battle against Jerusalem,
3 aconselhou-se com seus príncipes e seus poderosos homens para deter as águas das nascentes que estavam fora da cidade, e eles o ajudaram.
and he takes counsel with his heads and his mighty ones, to stop the waters of the fountains that [are] at the outside of the city—and they help him,
4 Então muitas pessoas se reuniram e pararam todas as nascentes e o riacho que corria pelo meio da terra, dizendo: “Por que os reis da Assíria deveriam vir, e encontrar água abundante”?
and many people are gathered, and they stop all the fountains and the brook that is rushing into the midst of the land, saying, “Why do the kings of Asshur come, and have found much water?”
5 Ele tomou coragem, construiu toda a muralha que foi derrubada e a elevou até as torres, com a outra muralha do lado de fora, e fortaleceu Millo na cidade de David, e fez armas e escudos em abundância.
And he strengthens himself, and builds the whole of the wall that is broken, and causes [it] to ascend to the towers, and at the outside of the wall [builds] another, and strengthens Millo [in] the City of David, and makes darts in abundance, and shields.
6 Ele colocou capitães de guerra sobre o povo, reuniu-os no amplo lugar no portão da cidade e falou encorajadoramente com eles, dizendo:
And he puts heads of war over the people, and gathers them to him, to the broad place of a gate of the city, and speaks to their heart, saying,
7 “Seja forte e corajoso. Não tenha medo ou consternação por causa do rei da Assíria, nem por toda a multidão que está com ele; pois há um maior entre nós do que com ele.
“Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid, nor be cast down from the face of the king of Asshur, and from the face of all the multitude that [is] with him, for with us [are] more than with him.
8 Um braço de carne está com ele, mas Javé, nosso Deus, está conosco para nos ajudar e travar nossas batalhas”. O povo descansou sobre as palavras de Ezequias, rei de Judá.
With him [is] an arm of flesh, but with us [is] our God YHWH to help us and to fight our battles”; and the people are supported by the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.
9 Depois disso, Senaqueribe, rei da Assíria, enviou seus servos a Jerusalém (agora atacava Laquis, e todas as suas forças estavam com ele), a Ezequias, rei de Judá, e a todo Judá que estava em Jerusalém, dizendo:
After this Sennacherib king of Asshur has sent his servants to Jerusalem—and he [is] by Lachish, and all his power with him—against Hezekiah king of Judah and against all Judah who [are] in Jerusalem, saying,
10 Senaqueribe, rei da Assíria, diz: “Em quem você confia, que você permanece sitiado em Jerusalém?
“Thus said Sennacherib king of Asshur: On what are you trusting and abiding in the bulwark in Jerusalem?
11 Não vos convence Ezequias a entregar-vos à morte pela fome e pela sede, dizendo: 'Javé nosso Deus nos livrará das mãos do rei da Assíria'?
Is Hezekiah not persuading you to give you up to die by famine and by thirst, saying, Our God YHWH delivers us from the hand of the king of Asshur?
12 O mesmo Ezequias não tirou os seus altos e altares e ordenou a Judá e a Jerusalém, dizendo: 'adorareis diante de um altar e nele queimareis incenso'?
Has Hezekiah himself not turned aside His high places and His altars, and speaks to Judah and to Jerusalem, saying, You bow yourselves before one altar and you make incense on it?
13 Não sabeis o que eu e meus pais fizemos a todos os povos das terras? Será que os deuses das nações dessas terras foram de alguma forma capazes de livrar suas terras das minhas mãos?
Do you not know what I have done—I and my fathers—to all peoples of the lands? Were the gods of the nations of the lands at all able to deliver their land out of my hand?
14 Quem estava lá entre todos os deuses daquelas nações que meus pais destruíram completamente e que poderiam livrar seu povo da minha mão, para que seu Deus pudesse livrá-lo da minha mão?
Who among all the gods of these nations whom my fathers have devoted to destruction [is] he who has been able to deliver his people out of my hand, that your God is able to deliver you out of my hand?
15 Agora, portanto, não deixe Hezekiah enganá-lo nem persuadi-lo desta maneira. Não acredite nele, pois nenhum deus de nenhuma nação ou reino foi capaz de livrar seu povo da minha mão, e da mão de meus pais. Quanto menos teu Deus te livrará de minhas mãos”?
And now, do not let Hezekiah lift you up, nor persuade you thus, nor give credence to him, for no god of any nation and kingdom is able to deliver his people from my hand and from the hand of my fathers: also, surely your God does not deliver you from my hand!”
16 Seus servos falaram ainda mais contra Yahweh Deus e contra seu servo Hezekiah.
And again his servants have spoken against YHWH God and against His servant Hezekiah,
17 Ele também escreveu cartas insultando Iavé, o Deus de Israel, e falando contra ele, dizendo: “Como os deuses das nações das terras, que não libertaram seu povo de minhas mãos, assim o Deus de Ezequias não libertará seu povo de minhas mãos”.
and he has written letters to give reproach to YHWH, God of Israel, and to speak against Him, saying, “As the gods of the nations of the lands that have not delivered their people from my hand, so the God of Hezekiah does not deliver His people from my hand.”
18 Eles clamaram com voz alta na língua dos judeus ao povo de Jerusalém que estava no muro, para assustá-los e incomodá-los, para que tomassem a cidade.
And they call with a great voice [in] Jewish against the people of Jerusalem who [are] on the wall, to frighten them and to trouble them, that they may capture the city,
19 Falavam do Deus de Jerusalém como dos deuses dos povos da terra, que são obra das mãos dos homens.
and they speak against the God of Jerusalem as against the gods of the peoples of the land—work of the hands of man.
20 O rei Ezequias e o profeta Isaías, o filho de Amoz, rezaram por causa disso, e gritaram ao céu.
And Hezekiah the king prays, and Isaiah son of Amoz the prophet, concerning this, and they cry to the heavens,
21 Yahweh enviou um anjo, que cortou todos os homens poderosos de valor, os líderes e capitães do acampamento do rei da Assíria. Assim, ele voltou com vergonha para sua própria terra. Quando entrou na casa de seu deus, aqueles que saíram de seu próprio corpo o mataram lá com a espada.
and YHWH sends a messenger and cuts off every mighty man of valor—both leader and head—in the camp of the king of Asshur, and he turns back with shame of face to his land and enters the house of his god, and those coming out of his bowels have caused him to fall there by the sword.
22 Thus Javé salvou Ezequias e os habitantes de Jerusalém da mão de Senaqueribe, o rei da Assíria, e da mão de todos os outros, e os guiou de todos os lados.
And YHWH saves Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem from the hand of Sennacherib king of Asshur and from the hand of all, and He leads them around;
23 Muitos trouxeram presentes a Javé para Jerusalém, e coisas preciosas para Ezequias, rei de Judá, para que ele fosse exaltado à vista de todas as nações a partir de então.
and many are bringing in an offering to YHWH, to Jerusalem, and precious things to Hezekiah king of Judah, and he is lifted up before the eyes of all the nations after this.
24 Naqueles dias Hezekiah estava doente terminal, e rezou a Javé; e falou com ele, e lhe deu um sinal.
In those days Hezekiah has been sick even to death, and he prays to YHWH, and He speaks to him and has appointed a wonder for him;
25 Mas Hezekiah não retribuiu o benefício feito por ele, porque seu coração foi levantado. Portanto, houve ira sobre ele, Judá e Jerusalém.
and Hezekiah has not returned according to the deed [done] to him, for his heart has been lofty, and there is wrath on him and on Judah and Jerusalem;
26 However, Ezequias se humilhou pelo orgulho de seu coração, tanto ele como os habitantes de Jerusalém, de modo que a ira de Iavé não veio sobre eles nos dias de Ezequias.
and Hezekiah is humbled for the loftiness of his heart, he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and the wrath of YHWH has not come on them in the days of Hezekiah.
27 Hezekiah tinha riquezas e honrarias extremamente grandes. Ele se proveu de tesouros para prata, ouro, pedras preciosas, especiarias, escudos e todos os tipos de recipientes valiosos;
And Hezekiah has very much riches and honor, and he has made treasures for himself of silver, and of gold, and of precious stone, and of spices, and of shields, and of all [kinds] of desirable vessels,
28 also armazéns para o aumento de grãos, vinho novo e óleo; e barracas para todos os tipos de animais e rebanhos em dobras.
and storehouses for the increase of grain, and new wine, and oil, and stalls for all kinds of livestock, and herds for stalls;
29 Moreover ele providenciou para si cidades, e possessões de rebanhos e rebanhos em abundância; pois Deus lhe havia dado abundantes possessões.
and he has made cities for himself, and possessions of flocks and herds in abundance, for God has given very much substance to him.
30 Este mesmo Hezekiah também parou a nascente superior das águas de Gihon, e os trouxe diretamente para o lado oeste da cidade de David. Hezekiah prosperou em todas as suas obras.
And Hezekiah himself has stopped the upper source of the waters of Gihon, and directs them beneath to the west of the City of David, and Hezekiah prospers in all his work;
31 However, a respeito dos embaixadores dos príncipes da Babilônia, que lhe enviaram para indagar sobre a maravilha que foi feita na terra, Deus o deixou para testá-lo, para que ele pudesse saber tudo o que estava em seu coração.
and so with the ambassadors of the heads of Babylon, those sending to him to inquire of the wonder that has been in the land, God has left him to try him, to know all in his heart.
32 Agora o resto dos atos de Ezequias e suas boas ações, eis que estão escritos na visão do profeta Isaías, filho de Amoz, no livro dos reis de Judá e Israel.
And the rest of the matters of Hezekiah and his kind acts, behold, they are written in the vision of Isaiah son of Amoz the prophet, on the scroll of the kings of Judah and Israel.
33 Ezequias dormiu com seus pais e eles o enterraram na subida aos túmulos dos filhos de Davi. Todo Judá e os habitantes de Jerusalém o honraram com a sua morte. Manasses, seu filho, reinou em seu lugar.
And Hezekiah lies with his fathers, and they bury him in the highest of the graves of the sons of David, and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem have done honor to him at his death, and his son Manasseh reigns in his stead.
