Gênesis 37
1 E habitou Jacó na terra onde peregrinou seu pai, na terra de Canaã.
And Jacob dwelt in the land of his father's sojournings, in the land of Canaan.
2 Estas foram as gerações de Jacó. José, sendo de idade de dezessete anos apascentava as ovelhas com seus irmãos; e o jovem estava com os filhos de Bila, e com os filhos de Zilpa, mulheres de seu pai: e contava José a seu pai as más notícias acerca deles.
These are the generations of Jacob. Joseph, being seventeen years old, was feeding the flock with his brethren, being still a lad even with the sons of Bilhah, and with the sons of Zilpah, his father's wives; and Joseph brought evil report of them unto their father.
3 E amava Israel a José mais que a todos os seus filhos, porque lhe havia tido em sua velhice: e lhe fez uma roupa de diversas cores.
Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age; and he made him a coat of many colours.
4 E vendo seus irmãos que seu pai o amava mais que a todos os seus irmãos, odiavam-lhe, e não lhe podiam falar pacificamente.
And when his brethren saw that their father loved him more than all his brethren, they hated him, and could not speak peaceably unto him.
5 E sonhou José um sonho e contou-o a seus irmãos; e eles vieram a odiar-lhe mais ainda.
And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it to his brethren; and they hated him yet the more.
6 E ele lhes disse: Ouvi agora este sonho que sonhei:
And he said unto them: 'Hear, I pray you, this dream which I have dreamed:
7 Eis que atávamos feixes no meio do campo, e eis que meu feixe se levantava, e estava em pé, e que vossos feixes estavam ao redor, e se inclinavam ao meu.
for, behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and, lo, my sheaf arose, and also stood upright; and, behold, your sheaves came round about, and bowed down to my sheaf.'
8 E responderam-lhe seus irmãos: Reinarás tu sobre nós, ou serás tu senhor sobre nós? E o odiaram ainda mais por causa de seus sonhos e de suas palavras.
And his brethren said to him: 'Shalt thou indeed reign over us? or shalt thou indeed have dominion over us?' And they hated him yet the more for his dreams, and for his words.
9 E sonhou ainda outro sonho, e contou-o a seus irmãos, dizendo: Eis que sonhei outro sonho, e eis que o sol e a lua e onze estrelas se inclinavam a mim.
And he dreamed yet another dream, and told it to his brethren, and said: 'Behold, I have dreamed yet a dream: and, behold, the sun and the moon and eleven stars bowed down to me.'
10 E contou-o a seu pai e a seus irmãos: e seu pai lhe repreendeu, e disse-lhe: Que sonho é este que sonhaste? Viremos eu e tua mãe, e teus irmãos, a nos inclinarmos a ti em terra?
And he told it to his father, and to his brethren; and his father rebuked him, and said unto him: 'What is this dream that thou hast dreamed? Shall I and thy mother and thy brethren indeed come to bow down to thee to the earth?'
11 E seus irmãos lhe tinham inveja, mas seu pai guardava isso em mente.
And his brethren envied him; but his father kept the saying in mind.
12 E foram seus irmãos a apascentar as ovelhas de seu pai em Siquém.
And his brethren went to feed their father's flock in Shechem.
13 E disse Israel a José: Teus irmãos apascentam as ovelhas em Siquém: vem, e te enviarei a eles. E ele respondeu: Eis-me aqui.
And Israel said unto Joseph: 'Do not thy brethren feed the flock in Shechem? come, and I will send thee unto them.' And he said to him: 'Here am I.'
14 E ele lhe disse: Vai agora, olha como estão teus irmãos e como estão as ovelhas, e traze-me a resposta. E enviou-o do vale de Hebrom, e chegou a Siquém.
And he said to him: 'Go now, see whether it is well with thy brethren, and well with the flock; and bring me back word.' So he sent him out of the vale of Hebron, and he came to Shechem.
15 E achou-o um homem, andando ele perdido pelo campo, e perguntou-lhe aquele homem, dizendo: Que buscas?
And a certain man found him, and, behold, he was wandering in the field. And the man asked him, saying: 'What seekest thou?'
16 E ele respondeu: Busco a meus irmãos: rogo-te que me mostres onde apascentam.
And he said: 'I seek my brethren. Tell me, I pray thee, where they are feeding the flock.'
17 E aquele homem respondeu: Já se foram daqui; eu lhes ouvi dizer: Vamos a Dotã. Então José foi atrás de seus irmãos, e achou-os em Dotã.
And the man said: 'They are departed hence; for I heard them say: Let us go to Dothan.' And Joseph went after his brethren, and found them in Dothan.
18 E quando eles o viram de longe, antes que perto deles chegasse, tramaram contra ele para matar-lhe.
And they saw him afar off, and before he came near unto them, they conspired against him to slay him.
19 E disseram um ao outro: Eis que vem o sonhador;
And they said one to another: 'Behold, this dreamer cometh.
20 Agora, pois, vinde, e o matemos e o lancemos em uma cisterna, e diremos: Alguma fera selvagem o devorou: e veremos que serão seus sonhos.
Come now therefore, and let us slay him, and cast him into one of the pits, and we will say: An evil beast hath devoured him; and we shall see what will become of his dreams.'
21 E quando Rúben ouviu isto, livrou-o de suas mãos e disse: Não o matemos.
And Reuben heard it, and delivered him out of their hand; and said: 'Let us not take his life.'
22 E disse-lhes Rúben: Não derrameis sangue; lançai-o nesta cisterna que está no deserto, e não ponhais mão nele; para livrá-lo assim de suas mãos, para fazê-lo virar a seu pai.
And Reuben said unto them: 'Shed no blood; cast him into this pit that is in the wilderness, but lay no hand upon him' — that he might deliver him out of their hand, to restore him to his father.
23 E sucedeu que, quando chegou José a seus irmãos, eles fizeram desnudar a José sua roupa, a roupa de cores que tinha sobre si;
And it came to pass, when Joseph was come unto his brethren, that they stripped Joseph of his coat, the coat of many colours that was on him;
24 E tomaram-no, e lançaram-lhe na cisterna; mas a cisterna estava vazia, não havia nela água.
and they took him, and cast him into the pit — and the pit was empty, there was no water in it.
25 E sentaram-se a comer pão: e levantando os olhos olharam, e eis uma companhia de ismaelitas que vinha de Gileade, e seus camelos traziam aromas e bálsamo e mirra, e iam a levá-lo ao Egito.
And they sat down to eat bread; and they lifted up their eyes and looked, and, behold, a caravan of Ishmaelites came from Gilead, with their camels bearing spicery and balm and ladanum, going to carry it down to Egypt.
26 Então Judá disse a seus irmãos: Que proveito há em que matemos a nosso irmão e encubramos sua morte?
And Judah said unto his brethren: 'What profit is it if we slay our brother and conceal his blood?
27 Vinde, e o vendamos aos ismaelitas, e não seja nossa mão sobre ele; que nosso irmão é nossa carne. E seus irmãos concordaram com ele.
Come, and let us sell him to the Ishmaelites, and let not our hand be upon him; for he is our brother, our flesh.' And his brethren hearkened unto him.
28 E quando passavam os midianitas mercadores, tiraram eles a José da cisterna, e trouxeram-lhe acima, e o venderam aos ismaelitas por vinte peças de prata. E levaram a José ao Egito.
And there passed by Midianites, merchantmen; and they drew and lifted up Joseph out of the pit, and sold Joseph to the Ishmaelites for twenty shekels of silver. And they brought Joseph into Egypt.
29 E Rúben voltou à cisterna, e não achou a José dentro, e rasgou suas roupas.
And Reuben returned unto the pit; and, behold, Joseph was not in the pit; and he rent his clothes.
30 E voltou a seus irmãos e disse: O jovem não aparece; e eu, aonde irei eu?
And he returned unto his brethren, and said: 'The child is not; and as for me, whither shall I go?'
31 Então eles tomaram a roupa de José, e degolaram um cabrito das cabras, e tingiram a roupa com o sangue;
And they took Joseph's coat, and killed a he-goat, and dipped the coat in the blood;
32 E enviaram a roupa de cores e trouxeram-na a seu pai, e disseram: Achamos isto, reconhece agora se é ou não a roupa de teu filho.
and they sent the coat of many colours, and they brought it to their father; and said: 'This have we found. Know now whether it is thy son's coat or not.'
33 E ele a reconheceu, e disse: A roupa de meu filho é; alguma fera selvagem o devorou; José foi despedaçado.
And he knew it, and said: 'It is my son's coat; an evil beast hath devoured him; Joseph is without doubt torn in pieces.'
34 Então Jacó rasgou suas roupas, e pôs saco sobre seus lombos, e fez luto por seu filho muitos dias.
And Jacob rent his garments, and put sackcloth upon his loins, and mourned for his son many days.
35 E levantaram-se todos os seus filhos e todas as suas filhas para consolá-lo; mas ele não quis receber consolação, e disse: Porque eu tenho de descer ao meu filho com luto ao Xeol. E seu pai chorou por ele. (Sheol h7585)
And all his sons and all his daughters rose up to comfort him; but he refused to be comforted; and he said: 'Nay, but I will go down to the grave to my son mourning.' And his father wept for him. (Sheol h7585)
36 E os midianitas o venderam no Egito a Potifar, oficial de Faraó, capitão dos da guarda.
And the Midianites sold him into Egypt unto Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh's, the captain of the guard.
