Deuteronômio 25
1 Quando houver pleito entre alguns, e vierem a juízo, e os julgarem, e absolverem ao justo e condenarem ao iníquo,
When there ariseth a controversy between men, and they come nigh unto judgment, and judgment is granted them, then shall they justify the righteous man, and condemn the lawless.
2 Será que, se o delinquente merecer ser açoitado, então o juiz o fará lançar em terra, e o fará açoitar diante de si, segundo seu delito, por conta.
And it shall be—if the lawless man be, worthy of stripes, then shall the judge cause him to lie down and be beaten before him, according to the measure of his lawlessness, by number:
3 Fará lhe dar quarenta açoites, não mais: não seja que, se o ferir com muitos açoites a mais destes, se humilhe teu irmão diante de teus olhos.
forty stripes, may he give him not going beyond, —lest, if he do go beyond to smite him above these, with many stripes, then should thy brother be of no account in thine eyes.
4 Não porás mordaça ao boi quando trilhar.
Thou shalt not muzzle an ox when he is treading out the corn.
5 Quando irmãos estiverem juntos, e morrer algum deles, e não tiver filho, a mulher do morto não se casará fora com homem estranho: seu cunhado entrará a ela, e a tomará por sua mulher, e fará com ela parentesco.
When brethren dwell together, and one of them dieth, having, no son, the wife of the dead shall not marry outside to a stranger, —her husband’s brother, shall go in unto her, and take her unto him to wife and do for her as a husband’s brother.
6 E será que o primogênito que der à luz ela, se levantará em nome de seu irmão o morto, para que o nome deste não seja apagado de Israel.
And it shall be, that, the firstborn which she beareth, shall succeed in the name of his brother who is dead, —so shall his name not be wiped out from Israel.
7 E se o homem não quiser tomar a sua cunhada, irá então a cunhada sua à porta aos anciãos, e dirá: Meu cunhado não quer suscitar nome em Israel a seu irmão; não quer aparentar-se comigo.
But, if the man like not to take his sister-in-law, then shall his sister-in-law go up unto the gate, unto the elders, and say—My husband’s brother hath refused, to raise up unto his brother a name in Israel, he is not willing to do as a husband’s brother unto me.
8 Então os anciãos daquela cidade o farão vir, e falarão com ele: e se ele se levantar, e disser, Não quero tomá-la,
Then shall the elders of his city call him and speak unto him, —and he shall stand and say, I like not to take her.
9 Então se aproximará sua cunhada a ele diante dos anciãos, e o descalçará o sapato de seu pé, e lhe cuspirá no rosto, e falará e dirá: Assim será feito ao homem que não edificar a casa de seu irmão.
Then shall his brother’s wife come near unto him in the presence of the elders, and draw his shoe from off his foot, and spit in his face, —and respond and say, Thus shall it be done unto the man who will not build up the house of his brother.
10 E seu nome será chamado em Israel: A casa do descalço.
And his name shall be called in Israel, —The house of him who had his shoe drawn off.
11 Quando alguns brigarem juntos um com o outro, e chegar a mulher de um para livrar a seu marido da mão do que lhe fere, e meter sua mão e lhe pegar por suas vergonhas;
When men strive together one with another, and the wife of the one draweth near to deliver her husband out of the hand of him that smiteth him, —and she putteth forth her hand, and seizeth him by his parts of shame,
12 Tu a cortarás então a mão, não a perdoará teu olho.
then shalt thou cut off her hand, thine eye shall not pity.
13 Não terás em tua bolsa peso grande e peso pequeno.
Thou shalt not have in thy bag divers weights, —a great and a small.
14 Não terás em tua casa efa grande e efa pequeno.
Thou shalt not have in thy house divers measures, —a great and a small.
15 Pesos íntegros e justos terás; efa íntegro e justo terás: para que teus dias sejam prolongados sobre a terra que o SENHOR teu Deus te dá.
A weight full and just, shalt thou have, a measure full and just, shalt thou have, —that thy days may be prolonged upon the soil which Yahweh thy God is giving unto thee.
16 Porque abominação é ao SENHOR teu Deus qualquer um que faz isto, qualquer um que faz injustiça.
For an abomination unto Yahweh thy God, is every one that doeth these things, —every one that doeth unjustly.
17 Lembra-te do que te fez Amaleque no caminho, quando saístes do Egito:
Remember that which Amalek did unto thee by the way when ye came forth out of Egypt;
18 Que te saiu ao caminho, e te desbaratou a retaguarda de todos os fracos que iam detrás de ti, quando tu estavas cansado e exausto; e não temeu a Deus.
how he encountered thee by the way and cut off in thy rear all the worn-out behind thee, thou thyself, being weary and worn, —how he feared not God.
19 Será, pois, quando o SENHOR teu Deus te houver dado repouso de teus inimigos ao redor, na terra que o SENHOR teu Deus te dá por herdar para que a possuas, que apagarás a memória de Amaleque de debaixo do céu: não te esqueças.
Therefore shall it be when Yahweh thy God hath given thee rest from all thine enemies round about in the land which Yahweh thy God is giving unto thee for an inheritance to possess it, then shalt thou wipe out the remembrance of Amalek from under the heavens, —thou shalt not forget.
