Salmos 47

1 Aplaudi com as mãos, todos os povos; cantai a Deus com voz de triunfo.

You people all [over the world], clap your hands for joy! Shout joyfully to [praise] God!

2 Porque o Senhor altíssimo é tremendo, e Rei grande sobre toda a terra.

Yahweh, who is much greater than any other god, is awesome; he is the king who rules over all the world!

3 Ele nos subjugará os povos e as nações debaixo dos nossos pés.

He enabled us to defeat [the armies of] the people-groups [that lived in Canaan].

4 Escolherá para nós a nossa herança, a glória de Jacob, a quem amou (Selah)

He chose for us this land where we now live; we Israeli people [MTY], whom he loves, are proud that we own this land.

5 Deus subiu com júbilo, o Senhor subiu ao som de trombeta.

God has gone up [into his temple]. The people shouted joyfully and blew trumpets as Yahweh went up.

6 Cantai louvores a Deus, cantai louvores; cantai louvores ao nosso Rei, cantai louvores.

Sing songs to praise our God! Sing to praise him [DOU]! Sing to God, our king!

7 Pois Deus é o Rei de toda a terra, cantai louvores com inteligência.

God is the one who rules over everything in the world; sing a psalm to him!

8 Deus reina sobre as nações: Deus se assenta sobre o trono da sua santidade.

God sits on his sacred throne as he rules over the people of [all] ethnic groups.

9 Os príncipes do povo se ajuntam, o povo do Deus de Abraão; porque os escudos da terra são de Deus: ele está muito elevado!

The rulers of those people-groups gather as God’s people, the people [descended] from Abraham, [do]. But God has more power than the weapons/shields [of all the kings] on the earth; (he is greatly honored/people honor him) everywhere.
