Gênesis 2
1 Assim os céus, e a terra e todo o seu exército foram acabados.
And the heavens and the earth are completed, and all their host;
2 E havendo Deus acabado no dia sétimo a sua obra, que tinha feito, descançou no sétimo dia de toda a sua obra, que tinha feito.
and God completes by the seventh day His work which He has made, and ceases by the seventh day from all His work which He has made.
3 E abençoou Deus o dia sétimo, e o santificou; porque nele descançou de toda a sua obra, que Deus criara e fizera.
And God blesses the seventh day, and sanctifies it, for in it He has ceased from all His work which God had created for making.
4 Estas são as origens dos céus e da terra, quando foram criados: no dia em que o Senhor Deus fez a terra e os céus:
These [are] the generations of the heavens and of the earth in their being created, in the day of YHWH God’s making the earth and the heavens;
5 E toda a planta do campo que ainda não estava na terra, e toda a erva do campo que ainda não brotava; porque ainda o Senhor Deus não tinha feito chover sobre a terra, e não havia homem para lavrar a terra.
and no shrub of the field is yet in the earth, and no herb of the field yet sprouts, for YHWH God has not rained on the earth, and there is not a man to serve the ground,
6 Um vapor, porém, subia da terra, e regava toda a face da terra.
and a mist goes up from the earth, and has watered the whole face of the ground.
7 E formou o Senhor Deus o homem do pó da terra, e soprou em seus narizes o fôlego da vida: e o homem foi feito alma vivente.
And YHWH God forms the man—dust from the ground, and breathes into his nostrils breath of life, and the man becomes a living creature.
8 E plantou o Senhor Deus um jardim no Éden, da banda do oriente: e pôs ali o homem que tinha formado.
And YHWH God plants a garden in Eden, at the east, and He sets there the man whom He has formed;
9 E o Senhor Deus fez brotar da terra toda a árvore agradável à vista, e boa para comida: e a árvore da vida no meio do jardim, e a árvore da ciência do bem e do mal.
and YHWH God causes to sprout from the ground every tree desirable for appearance, and good for food, and the Tree of Life in the midst of the garden, and the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.
10 E saía um rio do Éden para regar o jardim; e dali se dividia e se tornava em quatro cabeças.
And a river is going out from Eden to water the garden, and from there it is parted, and has become four chief [rivers];
11 O nome do primeiro é Pison: este é o que rodeia toda a terra de Havila, onde há ouro.
the name of the first [is] Pison, it [is] that which is surrounding the whole land of Havilah where the gold [is],
12 E o ouro dessa terra é bom: ali há o bdélio, e a pedra sardônica.
and the gold of that land [is] good; the bdellium and the shoham stone [are] there;
13 E o nome do segundo rio é Gihon: este é o que rodeia toda a terra de Cush.
and the name of the second river [is] Gihon, it [is] that which is surrounding the whole land of Cush;
14 E o nome do terceiro rio é Hiddekel: este é o que vai para a banda do oriente da Assyria: e o quarto rio é o Euphrates.
and the name of the third river [is] Hiddekel, it [is] that which is going east of Asshur; and the fourth river is the Euphrates.
15 E tomou o Senhor Deus o homem, e o pôs no jardim do Éden para o lavrar e o guardar.
And YHWH God takes the man, and causes him to rest in the Garden of Eden, to serve it and to keep it.
16 E ordenou o Senhor Deus ao homem, dizendo: De toda a árvore do jardim comerás livremente,
And YHWH God lays a charge on the man, saying, “From every tree of the garden eating you eat;
17 Mas da árvore da ciência do bem e do mal, dela não comerás; porque no dia em que dela comeres, certamente morrerás.
but from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, you do not eat from it, for in the day of your eating from it—dying you die.”
18 E disse o Senhor Deus: Não é bom que o homem esteja só: far-lhe-ei uma ajudadora que esteja como diante dele.
And YHWH God says, “[It is] not good for the man to be alone; I make him a helper as his counterpart.”
19 Havendo pois o Senhor Deus formado da terra todo o animal do campo, e toda a ave dos céus os trouxe a Adão, para este ver como lhes chamaria; e tudo o que Adão chamou a toda a alma vivente, isso foi o seu nome.
And YHWH God forms from the ground every beast of the field, and every bird of the heavens, and brings [them] to the man, to see what he calls it; and whatever the man calls a living creature, that [is] its name.
20 E Adão pôs os nomes a todo o gado, e às aves dos céus, e a toda a besta do campo; mas para o homem não se achava ajudadora que estivesse como diante dele.
And the man calls names to all the livestock, and to bird of the heavens, and to every beast of the field; but for man a helper has not been found as his counterpart.
21 Então o Senhor Deus fez cair um sono pesado sobre Adão, e este adormeceu: e tomou uma das suas costelas, e cerrou a carne em seu lugar;
And YHWH God causes a deep sleep to fall on the man, and he sleeps, and He takes one of his ribs, and closes up flesh in its stead.
22 E da costela que o Senhor Deus tomou do homem, formou uma mulher: e trouxe-a a Adão.
And YHWH God builds up the rib which He has taken out of the man into a woman, and brings her to the man;
23 E disse Adão: Esta é agora osso dos meus ossos, e carne da minha carne: esta será chamada varôa, porquanto do varão foi tomada.
and the man says, “This at last! Bone of my bone, and flesh of my flesh!” For this is called Woman, for this has been taken from Man;
24 Portanto deixará o varão o seu pai e a sua mãe, e apegar-se-á à sua mulher, e serão ambos uma carne.
therefore a man leaves his father and his mother, and has cleaved to his wife, and they have become one flesh.
25 E ambos estavam nus, o homem e a sua mulher; e não se envergonhavam.
And both of them are naked, the man and his wife, and they are not ashamed of themselves.
