Salmos 140

1 Livra-me, ó Senhor, do homem mau: guarda-me do homem violento;

Unto the end, a psalm for David. Deliver me, O Lord, from the evil man: rescue me from the unjust man.

2 Que pensa o mal no coração: continuamente se ajuntam para a guerra.

Who have devised iniquities in their hearts: all the day long they designed battles.

3 Aguçaram as linguas como a serpente; o veneno das viboras está debaixo dos seus labios (Selah)

They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent: the venom of saps is under their lips.

4 Guarda-me, ó Senhor, das mãos do impio; guarda-me do homem violento, os quaes se propozeram empuxar os meus passos.

Keep me, O Lord, from the hand of the wicked: and from unjust men deliver me. Who have proposed to supplant my steps.

5 Os soberbos armaram-me laços e cordas; estenderam a rede ao lado do caminho: armaram-me laços corrediços (Selah)

The proud have hidden a net for me. And they have stretched out cords for a snare: they have laid for me a stumblingblock by the wayside.

6 Eu disse ao Senhor: Tu és o meu Deus: ouve a voz das minhas supplicas, ó Senhor.

I said to the Lord: Thou art my God: hear, O Lord, the voice of my supplication.

7 Senhor Deus, fortaleza da minha salvação, tu cobriste a minha cabeça no dia da batalha.

O Lord, Lord, the strength of my salvation: thou hast overshadowed my head in the day of battle.

8 Não concedas, ó Senhor, ao impio os seus desejos: não promovas o seu mau proposito, para que não se exalte (Selah)

Give me not up, O Lord, from my desire to the wicked: they have plotted against me; do not thou forsake me, lest they should triumph.

9 Quanto á cabeça dos que me cercam, cubra-os a maldade dos seus labios.

The head of them compassing me about: the labour of their lips shall overwhelm them.

10 Caiam sobre elles brazas vivas: sejam lançados no fogo: em covas profundas para que se não tornem a levantar.

Burning coals shall fall upon them; thou wilt cast them down into the fire: in miseries they shall not be able to stand.

11 Não terá firmeza na terra o homem de má lingua: o mal perseguirá o homem violento até que seja desterrado.

A man full of tongue shall not be established in the earth: evil shall catch the unjust man unto destruction.

12 Sei que o Senhor sustentará a causa do opprimido, e o direito do necessitado.

I know that the Lord will do justice to the needy, and will revenge the poor.

13 Assim os justos louvarão o teu nome: os rectos habitarão na tua presença.

But as for the just, they shall give glory to thy name: and the upright shall dwell with thy countenance.
