Jeremias 46
1 A palavra do Senhor, que veiu a Jeremias o propheta, contra as nações;
The word of the Lord that came to Jeremias the prophet against the Gentiles,
2 Ácerca do Egypto, contra o exercito de Pharaó Necho, rei do Egypto, que estava junto ao rio Euphrates em Carchemis; ao qual feriu Nabucodonozor, rei de Babylonia, no anno quarto de Joaquim, filho de Josias, rei de Judah.
Against Egypt, against the army of Pharao Nechao king of Egypt, which was by the river Euphrates in Charcamis, whom Nabuchodonosor the king of Babylon defeated, in the fourth year of Joakim the son of Josias king of Juda.
3 Preparae o escudo e o pavez, e chegae-vos para a peleja.
Prepare ye the shield and buckler, and go forth to battle.
4 Sellae os cavallos, e montae, cavalleiros, e apresentae-vos com elmos: alimpae as lanças, vesti-vos de couraças.
Harness the horses, and get up, ye horsemen: stand forth with helmets, furbish the spears, put on coats of mail.
5 Por que razão vejo os medrosos voltando as costas? e os seus heroes são abatidos, e vão fugindo, sem olharem para traz: terror ha ao redor, diz o Senhor.
What then? I have seen them dismayed, and turning their backs, their valiant ones slain: they fled apace, and they looked not back: terror was round about, saith the Lord.
6 Não fuja o ligeiro, e não escape o heroe: para a banda do norte, junto á borda do rio Euphrates tropeçaram e cairam.
Let not the swift flee away, nor the strong think to escape: they are overthrown, and fallen down, towards the north by the river Euphrates.
7 Quem é este que vem subindo como a corrente, cujas aguas se movem como os rios?
Who is this that cometh up as a flood: and his streams swell like those of rivers?
8 O Egypto vem subindo como a corrente, e as suas aguas se movem como os rios; e disse: Subirei, cobrirei a terra, destruirei a cidade, e os que habitam n'ella.
Egypt riseth up like a flood, and the waves thereof shall be moved as rivers, and he shall say: I will go up and will cover the earth: I will destroy the city, and its inhabitants.
9 Trepae, ó cavallos, e estrondeae, ó carros, e saiam os valentes: como tambem os ethiopes, e os puteos, que tomam o escudo, e os lydios, que tomam e entezam o arco.
Get ye up on horses, and glory in chariots, and let the valiant men come forth, the Ethiopians, and the Libyans that hold the shield, and the Lydians that take, and shoot arrows.
10 Porém este dia é do Senhor Jehovah dos Exercitos, dia de vingança para se vingar dos seus adversarios, e devorará a espada, e fartar-se-ha, e embriagar-se-ha com o sangue d'elles, porque o Senhor Jehovah dos Exercitos tem um sacrificio na terra do norte, junto ao rio de Euphrates.
For this is the day of the Lord the God of hosts, a day of vengeance, that he may revenge himself of his enemies: the sword shall devour, and shall be filled, and shall be drunk with their blood: for there is a sacrifice of the Lord God of hosts in the north country, by the river Euphrates.
11 Sobe a Gilead, e toma balsamo, ó virgem filha do Egypto: debalde multiplicas remedios, pois já não ha cura para ti
Go up into Galaad, and take balm, O virgin daughter of Egypt: in vain dost thou multiply medicines, there shall be no cure for thee.
12 As nações ouviram a tua vergonha, e a terra está cheia do teu clamor; porque o valente chorou com o valente e cairam ambos juntamente.
The nations have heard of thy disgrace, and thy howling hath filled the land: for the strong hath stumbled against the strong, and both are fallen together.
13 A palavra que fallou o Senhor a Jeremias, o propheta, ácerca da vinda de Nabucodonozor, rei de Babylonia, para ferir a terra do Egypto.
The word that the Lord spoke to Jeremias the prophet, how Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon should come and strike the land of Egypt:
14 Annunciae no Egypto, e fazei ouvir isto em Migdol; fazei tambem ouvil-o em Noph, e em Tahpanhes: dizei: Apresenta-te, e prepara-te; porque já devorou a espada o que está ao redor de ti.
Declare ye to Egypt, and publish it in Magdal, and let it be known in Memphis, and in Taphnis: say ye: Stand up, and prepare thyself: for the sword shall devour all round about thee.
15 Porque foram derribados os teus valentes? não se poderam ter em pé, porque o Senhor os empuxou.
Why are thy valiant men come to nothing? they stood not: because the Lord hath overthrown them.
16 Multiplicou os que tropeçavam: tambem cairam uns sobre os outros, e disseram: Levanta-te, e voltemos ao nosso povo, e á terra do nosso nascimento, por causa da espada que opprime.
He hath multiplied them that fall, and one hath fallen upon another, and they shall say: Arise, and let us return to our own people, and to the land our nativity, from the sword of the dove.
17 Clamaram ali: Pharaó rei do Egypto é um estrondo; deixou passar o tempo assignalado.
Call ye the name of Pharao king Egypt, a tumult time hath brought.
18 Vivo eu, diz o rei, cujo nome é o Senhor dos Exercitos, que assim como está Tabor entre os montes, e como o Carmelo sobre o mar, certamente assim virá.
As I live, (saith the King, whose name is the Lord of hosts, ) as Thabor is among the mountains, and as Carmel by the sea, so shall he come.
19 Prepara-te apparelhos para a ida em captiveiro, ó moradora, filha do Egypto: porque Noph será tornada em desolação, e será abrazada, até que ninguem mais ahi more.
Furnish thyself to go into captivity, thou daughter inhabitant of Egypt: for Memphis shall be made desolate, and shall be forsaken and uninhabited.
20 Bezerra mui formosa é o Egypto: já vem a destruição, ella vem do norte.
Egypt is like a fair and beautiful heifer: there shall come from the north one that shall goad her.
21 Até os seus mercenarios no meio d'ella são como bezerros cevados; porém tambem elles viraram as costas, fugiram juntos; não estiveram firmes; porque já veiu sobre elles o dia da sua ruina e o tempo da sua visitação.
Her hirelings also that lived in the midst of her, like fatted calves are turned back, and are fled away together, and they could not stand, for the day of their slaughter is come upon them, the time of their visitation.
22 A sua voz irá como a da serpente; porque irão com poder do exercito, e virão a ella com machados como cortadores de lenha.
Her voice shall sound like brass, for they shall hasten with an army, and with axes they shall come against her, as hewers of wood.
23 Cortaram o seu bosque, diz o Senhor, ainda que não podem contar-se; porque se multiplicaram mais do que os gafanhotos, não se podem numerar.
They have cut down her forest, saith the Lord, which cannot be counted: they are multiplied above locusts, and are without number.
24 A filha do Egypto está envergonhada: foi entregue na mão do povo do norte.
The daughter of Egypt is confounded, and delivered into the hand of the people of the north.
25 Diz o Senhor dos Exercitos, o Deus de Israel: Eis que eu visitarei a multidão de No, e a Pharaó, e ao Egypto, e aos seus deuses, e aos seus reis, e até ao mesmo Pharaó, e aos que confiam n'elle.
The Lord of hosts the God of Israel hath said: Behold I will visit upon the tumult of Alexandria, and upon Pharao, and upon Egypt, and upon her gods, and upon her kings, and upon Pharao, upon them that trust in him.
26 E os entregarei na mão dos que procuram a sua morte, na mão de Nabucodonozor, rei de Babylonia, e na mão dos seus servos; porém depois será habitada, como nos dias antigos, diz o Senhor.
And I will deliver them into the hand of them that seek their lives, into the hand of Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon, and into the hand of his servants: and afterwards it shall be inhabited, as in the days of old, saith the Lord.
27 Não temas pois tu, servo meu Jacob, nem te espantes, ó Israel; porque eis que te livrarei de terras de longe, como tambem a tua semente da terra do seu captiveiro; e Jacob voltará, e descançará, e socegará, e não haverá quem o atemorize.
And thou my servant Jacob, fear not and be not thou dismayed, O Israel: for behold I will save thee from afar off, and thy seed out of the land of thy captivity: and Jacob shall return and be at rest, and prosper: and there shall be none to terrify him.
28 Tu não temas, servo meu, Jacob, diz o Senhor, porque estou comtigo; porque farei consummação de todas as nações entre as quaes te lancei; porém de ti não farei consummação, mas castigar-te-hei com medida, e não te darei de todo por innocente
And thou, my servant Jacob, fear not, saith the Lord: because I am with thee, for I will consume all the nations to which I have cast thee out: but thee I will not consume, but I will correct thee in judgment, neither will I spare thee as if thou wert innocent.
