امثال 9
| حکمت، خانه خود را بنا کرده، و هفت ستونهای خویش را تراشیده است. | ۱ 1 |
Wisdom has built a house for herself. She has hewn seven columns.
| ذبایح خود را ذبح نموده و شراب خود را ممزوج ساخته و سفره خود را نیز آراسته است. | ۲ 2 |
She has immolated her victims. She has mixed her wine and set forth her table.
| کنیزان خود را فرستاده، ندا کرده است، بر پشتهای بلندشهر. | ۳ 3 |
She has sent her maids to call out to the tower and to the fortified walls of the city,
| هر‌که جاهل باشد به اینجا بیاید، و هر‌که ناقص العقل است او را می‌گوید. | ۴ 4 |
“If anyone is little, let him come to me.” And to the unwise, she has said:
| بیایید از غذای من بخورید، و از شرابی که ممزوج ساخته‌ام بنوشید. | ۵ 5 |
“Approach. Eat my bread, and drink the wine that I have mixed for you.
| جهالت را ترک کرده، زنده بمانید، و به طریق فهم سلوک نمایید. | ۶ 6 |
Leave behind childishness. And live and walk by the ways of prudence.”
| هر‌که استهزاکننده راتادیب نماید، برای خویشتن رسوایی را تحصیل کند، و هر‌که شریر را تنبیه نماید برای او عیب می‌باشد. | ۷ 7 |
Whoever teaches a mocker causes injury to himself. And whoever argues with the impious produces a blemish on himself.
| استهزاکننده را تنبیه منما مبادا از تونفرت کند، اما مرد حکیم را تنبیه نما که تو رادوست خواهد داشت. | ۸ 8 |
Do not be willing to argue with a mocker, lest he hate you. Dispute with the wise, and he will love you.
| مرد حکیم را پند ده که زیاده حکیم خواهد شد. مرد عادل را تعلیم ده که علمش خواهد افزود. | ۹ 9 |
Present an opportunity to the wise, and wisdom shall be added to him. Teach the just, and he will hurry to receive it.
| ابتدای حکمت ترس خداوند است، و معرفت قدوس فطانت می‌باشد. | ۱۰ 10 |
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of holiness is prudence.
| زیرا که به واسطه من روزهای تو کثیر خواهدشد، و سالهای عمر از برایت زیاده خواهدگردید. | ۱۱ 11 |
For by me, your days will be multiplied and years of life will be added to you.
| اگر حکیم هستی، برای خویشتن حکیم هستی. و اگر استهزا نمایی به تنهایی متحمل آن خواهی بود. | ۱۲ 12 |
If you would be wise, you will be so for yourself. But if you would be one who ridicules, you alone shall carry the evil.
| زن احمق یاوه‌گو است، جاهل است و هیچ نمی داند، | ۱۳ 13 |
A foolish and loud woman, who is full of enticements and who knows nothing at all,
| و نزد در خانه خود می‌نشیند، درمکانهای بلند شهر بر کرسی، | ۱۴ 14 |
sat at the entrance of her house on a seat, in a high place of the city,
| تا راه روندگان رابخواند، و آنانی را که به راههای خود براستی می‌روند. | ۱۵ 15 |
so as to call to those who were passing by the way and continuing on their journey:
| هر‌که جاهل باشد به اینجا برگردد، وبه ناقص العقل می‌گوید: | ۱۶ 16 |
“Whoever is little, let him turn aside to me.” And to the frenzied, she said,
| «آبهای دزدیده شده شیرین است، و نان خفیه لذیذ می‌باشد.» | ۱۷ 17 |
“Stolen waters are more soothing, and secret bread is more pleasant.”
