< Naahoom 3 >
1 Magaalattii dhiigaatiif, kan sobaan guutamteef, kan saamichaan guutamteef, kan warri hammina hojjetan keessaa hin dhabamne sanaaf wayyoo!
Woe to the city of blood, full of lies, full of plunder, never without prey.
2 Iyyi qaccee, kakaksuun gommaa, gulufuun fardaa, didichuun gaarii lolaa ni dhagaʼama!
The crack of the whip, the rumble of the wheel, galloping horse and bounding chariot!
3 Abbaan fardaa ni gulufa; goraadeen ni balaqqisa; eeboon ni calaqqisa! Balaan hedduun nama irra gaʼeera; namni baayʼeen duʼeera; reeffi lakkoobsa hin qabu; namoonnis reeffa isaaniitti gufatu;
Charging horseman, flashing sword, shining spear; heaps of slain, mounds of corpses, dead bodies without end— they stumble over their dead—
4 kun hundi sababii baayʼina sagaagalummaa sagaagaltuu, giiftii falfaltootaa, kan sagaagaltummaa isheetiin saboota, tolcha isheetiin immoo uummata garboomsite sanaatiin taʼe.
because of the many harlotries of the harlot, the seductive mistress of sorcery, who betrays nations by her prostitution and clans by her witchcraft.
5 Waaqayyo Waan Hunda Dandaʼu akkana jedha: “Ani sitti kaʼeen jira. Ani uffata kee fuula keetti ol soqola. Ani sabootatti qullaa kee, mootummootatti immoo qaanii kee nan mulʼisa.
“Behold, I am against you,” declares the LORD of Hosts. “I will lift your skirts over your face. I will show your nakedness to the nations and your shame to the kingdoms.
6 Ani xuriidhaan sin faala; akka malee sin tuffadha; waan kolfaa illee sin godha.
I will pelt you with filth and treat you with contempt; I will make a spectacle of you.
7 Namni si argu hundi sirraa baqatee, ‘Nanawween baduutti jirti; eenyutu booʼaaf?’ siin jedha. Ani nama si jajjabeessu tokko illee eessaa argadha?”
Then all who see you will recoil from you and say, ‘Nineveh is devastated; who will grieve for her?’ Where can I find comforters for you?”
8 Ati, Nooʼi Amoon biyya laga Abbayyaa irraa kan bishaaniin marfamte sana caaltaa? Lagni daʼoo ishee ti; bishaanis dallaa ishee ti.
Are you better than Thebes, stationed by the Nile with water around her, whose rampart was the sea, whose wall was the water?
9 Itoophiyaa fi Gibxi jabina ishee kan dhuma hin qabnee dha; Fuuxii fi Liibiyaan tumsitoota ishee ti.
Cush and Egypt were her boundless strength; Put and Libya were her allies.
10 Taʼus isheen boojiʼamtee biyya ormaatti geeffamte. Daaʼimman ishee mataa daandii hundaa irratti miciriqfamanii dhuman. Namoota ishee ulfaatootti ixaa buufatanii namoonni ishee gurguddoonni hundinuu foncaadhaan hidhaman.
Yet she became an exile; she went into captivity. Her infants were dashed to pieces at the head of every street. They cast lots for her dignitaries, and all her nobles were bound in chains.
11 Atis ni machoofta; ni dhokattas; diina jalaa baʼuufis daʼoo barbaaddatta.
You too will become drunk; you will go into hiding and seek refuge from the enemy.
12 Daʼoon kee hundi mukkeen harbuu kanneen ija jalqabatti bilchaate qaban fakkaata; yeroo mukkeen sun hurgufamanitti iji isaanii afaan nama waa nyaatuu keessa buʼa.
All your fortresses are fig trees with the first ripe figs; when shaken, they fall into the mouth of the eater!
13 Mee raayyaawwan kee ilaali; isaan hundinuu dubartoota! Karrawwan biyya keetii diinota keetiif balʼatanii banamanii jiru; ibiddis danqaraa isaanii gubee fixeera.
Look at your troops— they are like your women! The gates of your land are wide open to your enemies; fire consumes their bars.
14 Utuu hin marfamin bishaan waraabbadhu; humna hittisaa kee jajjabeeffadhu! Suphee tolfadhu; dhoqqee suphee dhiittadhu; xuubii tolfadhu.
Draw your water for the siege; strengthen your fortresses. Work the clay and tread the mortar; repair the brick kiln!
15 Achitti ibiddi si fixa; goraadeenis si cicciree akkuma korophisaas si barbadeessa. Akka korophisaa hori; akkuma hawwaannisaa baayʼadhu.
There the fire will devour you; the sword will cut you down and consume you like a young locust. Make yourself many like the young locust; make yourself many like the swarming locust!
16 Ati hamma isaan urjii samii caalaa baayʼatanitti daldaltoota kee baayʼifatteerta; isaan garuu akkuma hawwaannisaa biyyatii qullaa hambisanii ergasii barrisanii deemu.
You have multiplied your merchants more than the stars of the sky. The young locust strips the land and flies away.
17 Eegdonni kee akkuma hawwaannisaa ti; qondaaltonni kees akkuma tuuta hawwaannisaa kan guyyaa qabbanaa dallaa irra qubatuu ti; yeroo aduun baatu garuu barrisanii badu; namni tokko iyyuu gara isaan dhaqan hin beeku.
Your guards are like the swarming locust, and your scribes like clouds of locusts that settle on the walls on a cold day. When the sun rises, they fly away, and no one knows where.
18 Yaa mootii Asoor tiksoonni kee ni mugu; namoonni kee ulfaatoon boqochuuf gad ciciisaniiru. Namoonni kee nama walitti isaan qabu dhabanii tulluuwwan irratti bibittinnaaʼaniiru.
O king of Assyria, your shepherds slumber; your officers sleep. Your people are scattered on the mountains with no one to gather them.
19 Wanni tokko iyyuu madaa kee fayyisuu hin dandaʼu; miidhamni kees kan duʼaan si gaʼuu dha. Namni oduu waaʼee keetii dhagaʼu hundinuu kufaatii keetti harka walitti rurrukuta; gara jabina kee kan dhuma hin qabne sanaan eenyutu hin miidhamin?
There is no healing for your injury; your wound is severe. All who hear the news of you applaud your downfall, for who has not experienced your constant cruelty?
