< Maatewos 27 >

1 Ganama barii luboonni hangafoonnii fi maanguddoonni sabaa hundinuu Yesuusin ajjeesuuf walii wajjin mariʼatan.
Now when morning came, all the chief priests and the elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death.
2 Isaanis isa hidhanii geessanii Phiilaaxoos bulchaatti dabarsanii kennan.
They bound him, led him away, and handed him over to Pontius Pilate, the governor.
3 Yihuudaan inni Yesuusin dabarsee kenne sun yommuu akka Yesuusitti murame argetti ni gaabbe; meetii soddoma sanas luboota hangafootattii fi maanguddootatti deebise.
When Judas, who had betrayed him, saw that Jesus had been condemned, he regretted what he had done and returned the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and the elders,
4 Innis, “Ani dhiiga qulqulluu dabarsee kennuudhaan cubbuu hojjedheera” jedhe. Isaanis deebisanii, “Maaltu nu dhibe ree? Situ itti gaafatama!” jedhaniin.
saying, “I have sinned by betraying innocent blood.” But they said, “What is that to us? See to it yoʋrself.”
5 Yihuudaanis meetii sana mana qulqullummaa keessatti gatee gad baʼe; dhaqees of fannise.
So he threw the pieces of silver into the temple and departed. Then he went away and hanged himself.
6 Luboonni hangafoonnis meetii sana fuudhanii, “Meetiin kun waan gatii dhiigaa taʼeef meetii mana qulqullummaatti dabaluun seera miti” jedhan.
The chief priests took the pieces of silver and said, “It is not lawful to put them into the temple treasury, since they are a price paid for blood.”
7 Isaanis walii wajjin mariʼatanii akka namoota biyya ormaatiif iddoo awwaalaa taʼuuf meetii sanaan lafa namicha suphee dhaʼu tokkoo bitan.
So they took counsel and used the money to buy the potter's field as a burial place for foreigners.
8 Kanaaf lafti sun hamma harʼaatti, “Lafa Dhiigaa” jedhamee waamama.
Therefore that field has been called the Field of Blood to this day.
9 Kanaanis wanni Ermiyaas raajichi dubbate sun ni raawwatame: Innis akkana jedha; “Isaan meetii soddomman, gatii isaa kan ijoolleen Israaʼel isatti shallagan sana fuudhanii,
Then what was spoken by the prophet Jeremiah was fulfilled: “They took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him on whom a price had been set, on whom some of the sons of Israel had set a price,
10 akkuma Gooftaan na ajajetti lafa namicha suphee dhaʼu sanaa ittiin bitan.”
and they gave them for the potter's field, as the Lord directed me.”
11 Yeroo sanatti Yesuus fuula bulchaa dura dhaabate; bulchaan sunis, “Ati mootii Yihuudootaatii?” jedhee isa gaafate. Yesuus immoo, “Atuu jette kaa!” jedhee deebise.
Meanwhile, Jesus stood before the governor, and the governor asked him, “Are yoʋ the king of the Jews?” Jesus said to him, “Yoʋ have said it yoʋrself.”
12 Inni yeroo luboonni hangafoonnii fi maanguddoonni isa himatanittis deebii tokko illee hin kennine.
But when he was accused by the chief priests and the elders, he gave no answer.
13 Phiilaaxoosis, “Ati akka isaan waan meeqa sirratti dhugaa baʼan hin dhageessuu?” jedhee isa gaafate.
Then Pilate said to him, “Do yoʋ not hear all the things they are testifying against yoʋ?”
14 Yesuus garuu himata tokkoof illee deebii tokko iyyuu hin kennine; bulchaan sunis akka malee waan kana dinqisiifate.
But he gave him no answer, not even to a single charge, so the governor was greatly amazed.
15 Bulchaan sun nama hidhame tokko ayyaanaan akkuma fedhii sabaatti gad dhiisuu bartee godhatee ture.
Now at the feast the governor was accustomed to release one prisoner for the crowd, whomever they wanted.
16 Yeroo sana namichi Barabbaas jedhamu beekamaan tokko hidhamee ture.
At that time they had a notorious prisoner named Barabbas.
17 Kanaafuu yommuu isaan walitti qabamanitti Phiilaaxoos, “Akka ani isa kam gad isinii dhiisu barbaaddu? Barabbaas moo Yesuus isa Kiristoos jedhamu sana?” jedhee isaan gaafate.
So when the crowds were gathered together, Pilate said to them, “Whom do you want me to release for you? Barabbas, or Jesus, who is called Christ?”
18 Akka isaan hinaaffaadhaan Yesuusin dabarsanii isatti kennan ni beeka tureetii.
(For he knew they had handed Jesus over out of envy.)
19 Utuu Phiilaaxoos barcuma murtii irra taaʼuu niitiin isaa, “Namicha qajeelaa sana hin tuqin; ani eda sababii isaatiif abjuudhaan akka malee dhiphadheeraatii” jettee itti dhaamte.
While Pilate was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent him this message: “Have nothing to do with that righteous man, for I have suffered a great deal today in a dream because of him.”
20 Luboonni hangafoonnii fi maanguddoonni garuu akka Barabbaas gad dhiifamee, Yesuus immoo ajjeefamu akka isa kadhataniif namoota sossoban.
But the chief priests and the elders persuaded the crowds to ask for Barabbas to be released and for Jesus to be executed.
21 Bulchaan sun, “Isaan lamaan kanneen keessaa akka ani isa kam gad isinii dhiisu barbaaddu?” jedhee ammas gaafate. Isaanis, “Barabbaasin” jedhanii deebisan.
In response the governor said to them, “Which of the two do you want me to release for you?” They said, “Barabbas.”
22 Phiilaaxoosis, “Yesuus isa Kiristoos jedhamu immoo ani maal godhu ree?” jedhee gaafate. Hundi isaaniis, “Isa fannisi!” jedhanii deebisan.
So Pilate said to them, “What then shall I do with Jesus, who is called Christ?” They all said to him, “Let him be crucified!”
23 Phiilaaxoos immoo, “Maaliif? Inni yakka maalii hojjete?” jedhee gaafate. Isaan garuu ittuma caalchisanii, “Isa fannisi!” jedhanii iyyan.
Then the governor said, “Why? What evil has he done?” But they cried out all the more, “Let him be crucified!”
24 Phiilaaxoos yommuu akka wanni kun goolii kaasuu malee faayidaa tokko illee hin qabne argetti, “Ani dhiiga nama kanaa irraa qulqulluu dha; isintu itti gaafatama!” jedhee bishaan fudhatee fuula namootaa duratti harka isaa dhiqate.
When Pilate saw that he was achieving nothing and that a riot was breaking out, he took water and washed his hands before the crowd, saying, “I am innocent of the blood of this righteous man. See to it yourselves.”
25 Namoonni hundinuus, “Dhiigni isaa nuu fi ijoollee keenya irra haa gaʼu!” jedhanii deebisan.
All the people answered, “His blood be on us and on our children!”
26 Ergasii inni Barabbaasin gad isaaniif dhiise. Yesuusin garuu garafsiisee akka inni fannifamuuf dabarsee kenne.
Then he released for them Barabbas, but he scourged Jesus and handed him over to be crucified.
27 Ergasii loltoonni bulchaa sanaa Yesuusin mana bulchaatti ol galchan; raayyaa loltootaa hundas naannoo Yesuusitti walitti qaban.
Then the governor's soldiers took Jesus with them into the governor's headquarters and gathered against him the entire cohort of soldiers.
28 Isaanis uffata isaa irraa baasanii uffata bildiimaa itti uffisan;
They stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him,
29 gonfoo qoraattii micciiranii dhaʼanii mataa isaa irra kaaʼan. Harka isaa mirgaa keessas ulee kaaʼan. Fuula isaa durattis jilbeenfatanii, “Akkam ree, yaa mootii Yihuudootaa!” jedhanii isatti qoosan.
and then twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on his head. They put a reed in his right hand, and kneeling before him, they mocked him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!”
30 Isaanis isatti tufan; ulee sanas fuudhanii mataa isaa rukutan.
Then they spit on him, took the reed, and beat him repeatedly on his head.
31 Erga itti qoosanii booddee uffata sana irraa baasanii wayyaa isaa deebisanii isatti uffisan. Fannisuufis isa fuudhanii deeman.
When they had finished mocking him, they stripped him of the robe and put his own garments back on him. Then they led him away to crucify him.
32 Utuu gad baʼanuus namicha Qareenaa kan Simoon jedhamu tokko arganii akka inni fannoo sana baatuuf isa dirqisiisan.
As they went out, they found a Cyrenian man named Simon. They pressed him into service, forcing him to carry Jesus' cross.
33 Isaanis iddoo Golgootaa jedhamu gaʼan; Golgootaa jechuun “Iddoo buqqee mataa” jechuu dha.
When they came to a place called Golgotha (which means, “Place of the Skull”),
34 Achittis akka inni dhuguuf daadhii wayinii kan hadhooftuun itti makame kennaniif; inni garuu afaaniin qabee dhuguu dide.
they gave Jesus sour wine to drink, mixed with gall. But when he tasted it, he refused to drink it.
35 Isaanis erga isa fannisanii booddee ixaa buufatanii uffata isaa gargar qooddatan.
After crucifying him, they divided his garments among themselves by casting lots.
36 Isaanis achi taaʼanii isa eegaa turan.
Then they sat down and kept watch over him there.
37 Katabbiin waan inni ittiin himatamees mataa isaatii ol kaaʼamee ture; katabbiin sunis, Kun Yesuus Mooticha Yihuudootaa ti, jedha.
Over his head they placed the written charge against him, which read, “This is Jesus, the King of the Jews.”
38 Hattoonni lamas, inni tokko mirga isaatiin, kaan immoo bitaa isaatiin isa wajjin fannifaman.
Then two robbers were crucified with him, one on his right and one on his left.
39 Warri achiin darbanis isa arrabsan; mataa isaaniis raasanii,
Those who passed by reviled him, shaking their heads
40 “Ati kan mana qulqullummaa diigdee guyyaa sadiitti ijaartu, mee of oolchi! Ati yoo Ilma Waaqaa taate fannoo irraa gad buʼi!” jedhan.
and saying, “Yoʋ who would destroy the temple and build it in three days, save yoʋrself. If yoʋ are the Son of God, come down from the cross!”
41 Akkasumas luboonni hangafoonni, barsiistonni seeraatii fi maanguddoonni isatti qoosan. Akkanas jedhan;
In the same way the chief priests also, along with the scribes, elders, and Pharisees, were mocking him, saying,
42 “Inni warra kaan oolcheera; ofii isaa garuu oolchuu hin dandaʼu! Inni yoo mootii Israaʼel taʼe amma fannoo irraa gad haa buʼu; nuus isatti ni amannaatii.
“He saved others, but he cannot save himself. If he is the king of Israel, let him come down now from the cross, and we will believe in him.
43 Inni Waaqa amanata; Waaqni yoo isa jaallate, mee amma isa haa oolchu; inni, ‘Ani Ilma Waaqaa ti’ jedheeraatii.”
He has put his trust in God; let God deliver him now if he wants him, for he said, ‘I am the Son of God.’”
44 Akkasuma hattoonni isa wajjin fannifamanis isa arrabsan.
The robbers who were crucified with him were also reviling him in the same way.
45 Saʼaatii jaʼaa jalqabee hamma saʼaatii sagaliitti dukkanni lafa hunda irra buʼe.
From the sixth hour until the ninth hour, there was darkness over the whole land.
46 Gara Saʼaatii sagaliitti Yesuus sagalee guddaadhaan, “Eloohee, Eloohee, laamaa sabaqtaanii?” jedhee iyye; hiikkaan isaas, “Yaa Waaqa ko, yaa Waaqa ko, ati maaliif na dhiifte?” jechuu dha.
And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, “Eli, Eli, lima sabachthani?” that is, “My God, my God, why have yoʋ forsaken me?”
47 Warra achi dhadhaabatan keessaa tokko tokko yommuu waan kana dhagaʼanitti, “Namichi kun Eeliyaasin waama” jedhan.
When some of those standing there heard this, they said, “This man is calling for Elijah.”
48 Yommusuma isaan keessaa namichi tokko fiigee dhaqee ispoonjii daadhii wayinii dhangaggaaʼaadhaan guutee, uleetti kaaʼe; akka inni dhuguufis Yesuusiif kenne.
Immediately one of them ran, got a sponge, filled it with sour wine, put it on a reed, and gave it to him to drink.
49 Warri kaan garuu, “Mee isa dhiisaa. Akka Eeliyaas dhufee isa oolchu arginaatii” jedhan.
But the rest said, “Leave him alone. Let us see if Elijah comes to save him.”
50 Yesuus ammas sagalee guddaadhaan iyyee hafuura isaa kenne.
Then Jesus cried out again with a loud voice and gave up his spirit.
51 Yeruma sana golgaan mana qulqullummaa olii hamma gadiitti iddoo lamatti tarsaʼe. Lafti ni sochoote; kattaawwanis ni babbaqaqan.
And behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth was shaken, and the rocks were split.
52 Awwaalonnis banamanii dhagnawwan qulqullootaa kanneen duʼanii turan hedduun duʼaa kaafaman.
The tombs were opened, and the bodies of many saints who had fallen asleep were raised.
53 Isaanis duʼaa kaʼuu Yesuus booddee awwaala keessaa baʼanii magaalattii qulqulluu seenan. Namoota hedduuttis mulʼatan.
(They came out of the tombs, and after his resurrection they went into the holy city and appeared to many.)
54 Ajajaan dhibbaa sunii fi warri isa wajjin Yesuusin eegaa turan yommuu sochii lafaatii fi waan achitti taʼe hunda arganitti akka malee sodaatanii, “Dhugumaanuu inni Ilma Waaqaa ture!” jedhan.
Now when the centurion and those who were keeping watch with him over Jesus saw the earthquake and the things that had happened, they became very frightened and said, “Truly this man was the Son of God.”
55 Dubartoonni Yesuusin tajaajiluuf jedhanii Galiilaadhaa isa duukaa buʼan baayʼeenis fagoo dhaabatanii ilaalaa turan.
Many women who had followed Jesus from Galilee and provided for him were there looking on from a distance,
56 Isaan keessaas Maariyaam ishee Magdalaa, Maariyaam haadha Yaaqoobii fi Yoosef, akkasumas haadha ilmaan Zabdewoos turan.
among whom were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Joses, and the mother of the sons of Zebedee.
57 Yommuu galgalaaʼettis namichi sooressi Yoosef jedhamu tokko Armaatiyaa dhufe; inni mataan isaas barataa Yesuus ture.
When it was evening, there came a rich man from Arimathea named Joseph, who was himself also a disciple of Jesus.
58 Innis gara Phiilaaxoos dhaqee reeffa Yesuus kadhate; Phiilaaxoosis akka reeffi sun isaaf kennamu ajaje.
He went to Pilate and asked for Jesus' body. So Pilate commanded that the body be given to him.
59 Yoosefis reeffa sana fudhatee huccuu quncee talbaa irraa hojjetame qulqulluudhaan kafane;
Joseph took the body, wrapped it in a clean linen cloth,
60 innis awwaala ofii isaa kan garaa kattaa keessatti qotate haaraa tokko keessa kaaʼe. Dhagaa guddaa tokkos balbala awwaala sanaatti gangalchee biraa deeme.
and laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn in a rock. Then he rolled a large stone against the entrance of the tomb and went away.
61 Maariyaam isheen Magdalaatii fi Maariyaam isheen kaan fuullee awwaala sanaa tataaʼaa turan.
Mary Magdalene was there, and so was the other Mary, sitting across from the tomb.
62 Guyyaa itti aanutti jechuunis guyyaa qophii booddee luboonni hangafoonnii fi Fariisonni fuula Phiilaaxoos duratti walitti qabaman.
The next day (that is, after the day of Preparation), the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered together before Pilate
63 Isaanis akkana jedhan; “Gooftaa! Akka namichi gowwoomsaan sun utuu lubbuudhaan jiruu, ‘Ani guyyaa sadii booddee duʼaa nan kaʼa’ jedhe nu ni yaadanna.
and said, “Sir, we remember that while he was still alive that deceiver said, ‘After three days I will rise again.’
64 Kanaafuu akka awwaalli sun hamma guyyaa sadaffaatti eegamu ajaji. Yoo kun taʼuu baate barattoonni isaa dhaqanii reeffa isaa hatanii, ‘Inni warra duʼan keessaa kaʼeera’ jedhanii namatti odeessu. Gowwoomsaan dhumaa kun immoo isa duraa caalaa ni hammaata.”
Therefore command that the tomb be secured until the third day, lest his disciples come by night, steal him away, and say to the people, ‘He has been raised from the dead.’ This last deception would be worse than the first.”
65 Phiilaaxoosis deebisee, “Waardiyyaa fudhadhaa dhaqaatii akkuma beektanitti awwaalicha eegsifadhaa” jedheen.
Pilate said to them, “You have a guard of soldiers. Go and make it as secure as you know how.”
66 Kanaaf isaan dhaqanii dhagicha irratti mallattoo godhan; waardiyyaas ramadanii awwaala sana eegsisan.
So they went and secured the tomb by sealing the stone and posting the guard of soldiers.
