< Yohannis 6 >

1 Wantoota kanneen booddee Yesuus Galaana Galiilaa isa Galaana Xibeeriyaas jedhamu gama ceʼe;
After this Jesus went away to the other side of the Sea of Galilee (that is, the Sea of Tiberias).
2 namoonni baayʼeenis sababii mallattoo inni warra dhukkubsatan fayyisuudhaan hojjete arganiif isa duukaa buʼan.
A large crowd was following him because they saw the miraculous signs he was performing on the sick.
3 Yesuusis barattoota isaa wajjin gaaratti ol baʼee taaʼe.
So Jesus went up on the mountain and sat there with his disciples.
4 Yeroo sana Ayyaanni Yihuudootaa, Faasiikaan dhiʼaatee ture.
(Now the Jewish feast of the Passover was near.)
5 Yesuus yommuu ol ilaaletti tuuta guddaa gara isaa dhufaa jiru tokko arge; Fiiliphoosiinis, “Namoota kanneeniif buddeena isaan nyaatan eessaa bitanna?” jedhe.
When Jesus lifted up his eyes and saw that a large crowd was coming to him, he said to Philip, “Where shall we buy bread so that these people may eat?”
6 Kanas Fiiliphoosin qoruudhaaf jedhee gaafate; inni mataan isaa waan gochuu qabu beeka tureetii.
(He said this to test him, for he himself knew what he was about to do.)
7 Fiiliphoos immoo, “Akka tokkoon tokkoon isaanii waanuma xinnoo illee argataniif buddeena gaʼu bituuf diinaarii dhibba lama fudhata” jedhee deebiseef.
Philip answered him, “Two hundred denarii worth of bread would not be sufficient for each of them to receive a little portion.”
8 Barattoota isaa keessaa tokko Indiriiyaas, obboleessi Simoon Phexros akkana jedheen;
Then one of his disciples, Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, said to him,
9 “Gurbaan buddeena garbuu shanii fi qurxummii lama qabu tokko kunoo ti; garuu nama akkana baayʼatu kanaaf kun maali?”
“There is a little boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish, but what good are they for so many people?”
10 Yesuusis, “Namoota teessisaa” jedhe. Iddoo sanas marga baayʼeetu ture; namoonnis ni tataaʼan; dhiira gara kuma shantu achi ture.
Jesus said, “Have the people sit down.” (Now there was a lot of grass in that place.) So the men sat down, about five thousand in number.
11 Yesuusis ergasii buddeena fuudhee, galata galchee warra tataaʼaniif hamma isaan barbaadan qoqqoode. Qurxummii sana illee akkasuma godhe.
Then Jesus took the loaves, and after giving thanks, he distributed them to the disciples, and the disciples distributed them to those who were seated. He did the same with the fish, and the people ate as much as they wanted.
12 Innis yommuu isaan hundi nyaatanii quufanitti barattoota isaatiin, “Hurraaʼaa hambifame walitti qabaa. Wanni tokko iyyuu hin badin” jedhe.
When they were full, Jesus said to his disciples, “Gather together the pieces that are left over so that nothing is wasted.”
13 Kanaafuu isaan hurraaʼaa buddeena garbuu shananii kan namoonni nyaatanii hambisan walitti qabanii gundoo kudha lama guutan.
So they gathered them together and filled twelve baskets with the broken pieces from the five barley loaves that were left over by those who had eaten.
14 Namoonnis yommuu mallattoo Yesuus hojjete arganitti, “Kun dhugumaanuu Raajii gara addunyaa dhufuuf jiru” jedhan.
When the people saw the sign that Jesus had done, they said, “This is truly the Prophet who is to come into the world.”
15 Yesuusis akka namoonni sun dhufanii humnaan qabanii mootii isa gochuu yaadan hubatee ammas kophaa isaa gara tulluu deeme.
So Jesus, knowing that they were about to come and take him by force to make him king, withdrew to the mountain by himself.
16 Yommuu galgalaaʼetti barattoonni isaa gara galaanaatti gad buʼan;
When evening came, his disciples went down to the sea,
17 achittis bidiruu yaabbatanii galaana irra gama Qifirnaahomitti qajeelan. Yeroon sun dukkana ture; Yesuus amma iyyuu gara isaanii hin dhufne ture.
and after getting into the boat, they started going across the sea to Capernaum. Darkness had already set in, but Jesus had not come to them.
18 Bubbeen jabaan isaa waan bubbisaa tureef bishaanichi ni raafame.
Then the sea became rough because a strong wind was blowing.
19 Isaanis erga gara kiiloo meetira shanii yookaan jaʼaa mooqanii booddee utuu Yesuus galaana irra deemaa, bidiruu sanattis dhiʼaachaa jiruu argan; ni sodaatanis.
When they had rowed about three or four miles, they saw Jesus approaching the boat, walking on the sea, and they were afraid.
20 Inni garuu, “Anumaatii hin sodaatinaa” jedheen.
But he said to them, “It is I; do not be afraid.”
21 Isaanis bidiruutti ol isa fudhachuu barbaadan; bidiruun sunis yommusuma lafa isaan dhaqaa turan sana gaʼe.
Then they were willing to receive him into the boat, and immediately the boat reached the land where they were heading.
22 Guyyaa itti aanutti namoonni galaanicha gamatti hafanii turan akka bidiruun tokko qofti achi ture, akka Yesuus barattoota isaa wajjin bidiruu hin yaabbatinii fi akka isaan kophaa isaanii deeman hubatan.
On the next day the crowd that had stayed on the other side of the sea realized that there had been no other boat there except the one Jesus' disciples had gotten into, and that Jesus himself had not gotten into the boat with his disciples, but that his disciples had gone away alone.
23 Bidiruuwwan biraa Xibeeriyaasii kaʼanii iddoo itti Gooftaan galata galchee isaanis itti buddeena nyaatan sana bira gaʼan.
Then other boats from Tiberias came near the place where they had eaten the bread after the Lord had given thanks.
24 Namoonni sunis yommuu akka Yesuusii fi barattoonni isaa achi hin jirre baranitti bidiruuwwan yaabbatanii Yesuusin barbaaduuf Qifirnaahom dhaqan.
So when the crowd saw that neither Jesus nor his disciples were there, they themselves got into the boats and went to Capernaum, seeking Jesus.
25 Namoonni yommuu galaanicha gamatti isa arganitti, “Yaa Barsiisaa, ati yoom as dhufte?” jedhanii isa gaafatan.
When they found him on the other side of the sea, they said to him, “Rabbi, when did yoʋ get here?”
26 Yesuusis akkana jedhee deebise; “Ani dhuguman, dhuguman isinitti hima; isin waan mallattoo argitaniif utuu hin taʼin, waan buddeena nyaattanii quuftaniif na barbaaddu.
Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, you are seeking me not because you saw signs, but because you ate the loaves and were filled.
27 Nyaata jireenya bara baraatiif taʼu kan Ilmi Namaa isinii kennuuf dadhabaa malee nyaata baduuf hin dadhabinaa. Waaqni Abbaan chaappaa isaa kan mirkaneessu Ilma irratti rukuteeraatii.” (aiōnios g166)
Do not work for food that perishes, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For on him God the Father has set his seal.” (aiōnios g166)
28 Isaanis, “Nu akka hojii Waaqaa hojjennuuf maal gochuu qabna?” jedhanii isa gaafatan.
Then they said to him, “What must we do to do the works of God?”
29 Yesuusis, “Isa inni ergetti amanuun keessan kun hojii Waaqaa ti” jedhee deebiseef.
Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in the one he has sent.”
30 Kanaafuu isaan akkana jedhanii isa gaafatan; “Akka nu isa arginee si amannuuf, mallattoo maalii argisiifta? Maal hojjettas?
So they said to him, “What sign then are yoʋ going to perform so that we may see it and believe yoʋ? What will yoʋ do?
31 ‘Akka isaan nyaataniif samii irraa buddeena isaaniif kenne’ jedhamee akkuma barreeffame, abbootiin keenya gammoojjii keessatti mannaa nyaatan.”
Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, just as it is written, ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’”
32 Yesuusis akkana jedheen; “Ani dhuguman isinitti hima; kan samii irraa buddeena isinii kenne Musee miti; kan samii irraa buddeena dhugaa isiniif kennu garuu Abbaa koo ti.
Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, it was not Moses who gave you the bread from heaven, but my Father gives you the true bread from heaven.
33 Buddeenni Waaqaa isa samii irraa gad buʼee addunyaaf jireenya kennu sanaatii.”
For the bread of God is that which comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.”
34 Isaanis, “Yaa Gooftaa, yeroo hunda buddeena kana nuu kenni” jedhaniin.
So they said to him, “Sir, give us this bread always.”
35 Yesuusis akkana isaaniin jedhe; “Buddeenni jireenyaa ana. Namni gara koo dhufu gonkumaa hin beelaʼu; kan anatti amanus gonkumaa hin dheebotu.
Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; he who comes to me will never hunger, and he who believes in me will never thirst.
36 Akkuma ani isinitti hime isin na argitaniirtu; garuu amma iyyuu hin amantan.
But as I told you, you have seen me and still you do not believe.
37 Kan Abbaan naa kennu hundi gara koo ni dhufa; anis kan gara koo dhufu gonkumaa alatti hin ariʼu.
Everyone the Father gives me will come to me, and I will never cast out anyone who comes to me.
38 Ani fedhii isa na erge sanaa guutuuf malee, fedhii koo guutachuuf samii irraa gad hin buuneetii.
For I have come down from heaven not to do my own will, but the will of him who sent me.
39 Fedhiin isa na ergees akka ani warra inni natti kenne hunda guyyaa dhumaatti duʼaa kaasuuf malee akka ani isaan keessaa tokko illee balleessuuf miti.
And this is the will of the Father who sent me, that I should lose none of those he has given me, but should raise them up on the last day.
40 Fedhiin Abbaa kootiis akka namni Ilma ilaalee isatti amanu hundi jireenya bara baraa qabaatuuf; anis guyyaa dhumaatti duʼaa isa nan kaasa.” (aiōnios g166)
And this is the will of him who sent me, that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.” (aiōnios g166)
41 Kana irratti Yihuudoonni sababii inni, “Ani buddeena samii irraa gad buʼee dha” jedheef isatti guungumuu jalqaban.
Then the Jews began to grumble about him because he said, “I am the bread that came down from heaven.”
42 Isaanis, “Kun Yesuus ilma Yoosef, isa nu abbaa fi haadha isaa beeknu sana mitii? Yoos inni akkamitti, ‘Ani samii irraa gad buʼeera’ jedha ree?” jedhan.
They said, “Is this not Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How then can he say, ‘I have come down from heaven’?”
43 Yesuus immoo akkana jedhee deebiseef; “Walitti hin guunguminaa.
Jesus answered them, “Do not grumble among yourselves.
44 Abbaan na erge sun isa harkisuu baannaan namni kam iyyuu gara koo dhufuu hin dandaʼu; anis guyyaa dhumaatti duʼaa isa nan kaasa.
No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up on the last day.
45 Raajota keessatti, ‘Isaan hundi warra Waaqa irraa baratan ni taʼu’jedhamee barreeffameera. Namni Abbaa irraa dhagaʼee fi kan isa irraa barate hundi gara koo ni dhufa.
It is written in the Prophets, ‘They will all be taught by God.’ Everyone therefore who has heard and learned from the Father comes to me—
46 Isa Waaqa biraa dhufe sana malee namni tokko iyyuu Abbaa hin argine; isa qofatu Abbaa arge.
not that anyone has seen the Father, except he who is from God; he has seen the Father.
47 Ani dhuguman isinitti hima; kan amanu jireenya bara baraa qaba. (aiōnios g166)
Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me has eternal life. (aiōnios g166)
48 Buddeenni jireenyaa ana.
I am the bread of life.
49 Abbootiin keessan gammoojjii keessatti mannaa nyaatan; taʼus ni duʼan.
Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and died.
50 Buddeenni samii irraa gad buʼe garuu isa kana; namni isa nyaatu gonkumaa hin duʼu.
This is the bread that comes down from heaven, so that anyone may eat of it and not die.
51 Buddeenni jiraataan samii irraa buʼe ana. Namni kam iyyuu yoo buddeena kana irraa nyaate bara baraan ni jiraata. Buddeenni ani jireenya addunyaatiif kennus foon koo ti.” (aiōn g165)
I am the living bread that has come down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. And the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh.” (aiōn g165)
52 Yihuudoonnis, “Namichi kun akkamitti akka nu nyaannuuf foon isaa nuu kennuu dandaʼa?” jedhanii wal falman.
Then the Jews began to quarrel with one another, saying, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?”
53 Yesuus immoo akkana jedheen; “Ani dhuguman isinitti hima; isin foon Ilma Namaa nyaachuu baannaan, dhiiga isaas dhuguu baannaan ofii keessaniin jireenya hin qabdan.
So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, if you do not eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in yourselves.
54 Namni foon koo nyaatuu fi dhiiga koo dhugu jireenya bara baraa qaba. Anis guyyaa dhumaatti duʼaa isa nan kaasa. (aiōnios g166)
Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day. (aiōnios g166)
55 Foon koo nyaata dhugaatii; dhiigni koos dhugaatii dhugaa ti.
For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink.
56 Namni foon koo nyaatuu fi dhiiga koo dhugu hundi na keessa jiraata; anis isa keessa nan jiraadha.
Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him.
57 Akkuma Abbaan jiraataan na ergee anis sababii Abbaatiin jiraadhu sana, namni na nyaatus sababii kootiin ni jiraata.
Just as the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so whoever feeds on me will also live because of me.
58 Buddeenni samii irraa buʼe isa kana; innis kan akka mannaa Abbootiin keessan nyaatanii duʼan sanaa miti; namni buddeena kana nyaatu bara baraan ni jiraata.” (aiōn g165)
This is the bread that came down from heaven, not as your fathers ate the manna, and died. Whoever eats this bread will live forever.” (aiōn g165)
59 Innis Qifirnaahomitti utuu mana sagadaa keessatti barsiisaa jiruu waan kana dubbate.
He said these things in a synagogue while teaching in Capernaum.
60 Barattoota isaa keessaa baayʼeen yommuu waan kana dhagaʼanitti, “Barsiisni kun cimaa dha; eenyutu fudhachuu dandaʼa?” jedhan.
After hearing this, many of his disciples said, “This is a hard saying; who can accept it?”
61 Yesuusis akka barattoonni isaa waaʼee waan kanaa guunguman hubatee akkana jedheen; “Kun isin gufachiisaa ree?
But Jesus, aware that his disciples were grumbling about this, said to them, “Does this offend you?
62 Yoos yoo utuu Ilmi Namaa iddoo dur turetti ol baʼuu argitan akkam taʼinna ree?
Then what if you see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before?
63 Kan jireenya kennu Hafuura; foon faayidaa hin qabu. Dubbiin ani isinitti dubbadhe Hafuura; jireenyas.
It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is of no benefit. The words that I speak to you are spirit and life.
64 Isin keessas warri hin amanne tokko tokko jiru.” Yesuus jalqabumaa kaasee isaan keessaa eenyu akka hin amaninii fi eenyu akka dabarsee isa kennu ni beeka tureetii.
But there are some among you who do not believe.” (For Jesus knew from the beginning which of them did not believe and who it was that would betray him.)
65 Innis ittuma fufee, “Sababiin ani, ‘Yoo Abbaa biraa isaaf kenname malee namni kam iyyuu gara koo dhufuu hin dandaʼu’ isiniin jedheefis kanuma” jedhe.
Then he said, “That is why I told you that no one can come to me unless it has been granted to him by my Father.”
66 Yeroo kanaa jalqabee barattoota isaa keessaa baayʼeen duubatti deebiʼan; ergasiis isa wajjin hin deemne.
At that point many of his disciples went back and no longer walked with him.
67 Yesuusis warra Kudha Lamaaniin, “Isinis deemuu barbaadduu?” jedhee gaafate.
So Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you also want to go away?”
68 Simoon Phexrosis akkana jedhee deebise; “Yaa Gooftaa, gara eenyuu deemna? Ati dubbii jireenya bara baraa qabdaa. (aiōnios g166)
Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? Yoʋ have the words of eternal life. (aiōnios g166)
69 Nu akka ati Qulqullicha Waaqaa taate amanneerra; beekneerras.”
And we have come to believe and to know that yoʋ are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
70 Yesuusis deebisee, “Anumatu Kudha Lamaan keessan filate mitii? Taʼus isin keessaa inni tokko diiyaabiloosii dha!” jedhe.
Jesus answered them, “Did I not choose you, the twelve? And yet one of you is a devil.”
71 Innis waaʼee Yihuudaa ilma Simoon Keeriyotichaa dubbate; Yihuudaan warra Kudha Lamaan keessaa tokko taʼus Yesuusin dabarsee kennuuf tureetii!
(Now he was speaking about Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, who was one of the twelve and would later betray him.)
