< Iyyoob 14 >
1 “Nama dubartoota irraa dhalate, barri isaa gabaabaa fi kan rakkinaan guutamee dha.
Man that is born of a woman, is of few days, and full of trouble:
2 Inni akkuma daraaraa ni biqila; ni coollagas; akkuma gaaddidduu ariifatee darba malee hin turu.
As a flower, he cometh forth—and fadeth, He fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not.
3 Iji kee nama akkasii xiyyeeffatee ilaalaa? Ati murtiif fuula kee duratti isa fiddaa?
And yet upon such a one as this, hast thou opened thine eye? And, him, wouldst thou bring into judgment with thee?
4 Eenyutu waan xuraaʼaa keessaa waan qulqullaaʼaa baasuu dandaʼa? Namni tokko iyyuu hin dandaʼu!
Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? Not one!
5 Barri jireenya namaa murtaaʼaa dha; baayʼinni jiʼoota isaas si bira jira; daangaa inni darbuu hin dandeenye daangessiteefii jirta.
If determined am his days, the number of his months, is with thee, Fixed times for him, thou hast appointed and he cannot go beyond.
6 Hamma inni akka hojjetaa tokkootti bara isaa raawwatutti, fuula kee isa irraa deebifadhu; isas dhiisi.
Look sway from him, that he may rest, Till he shall pay off, as a hireling, his day.
7 “Mukni illee abdii qaba: Yoo murame deebiʼee ni lata; dameen isaa haaraanis hin gogu.
Though there is—for a tree—hope, —if it should be cut down, that, again, it will grow, and, the tender branch thereof, will not cease;
8 Yoo gufuun isaa lafa keessatti dulloomee gufuun isaa biyyoo keessatti tortore iyyuu,
If its root, should become old in the earth, and, in the dust, its stock should die:
9 foolii bishaaniitiin lata; akka biqiltuuttis damee ni baafata.
Through the scent of water, it may break forth, and produce branches like a sapling,
10 Namni garuu duʼee awwaalama; lubbuun isaa keessaa baati; innis hin jiraatu.
Yet, man, dieth, and is prostrate, Yea the son of earth doth cease to breathe, and where is he?
11 Akkuma bishaan galaanaa gogu yookaan lagnis dhumee gogu sana,
Waters, have failed from, the sea, and, a river, may waste and dry up;
12 namnis akkasuma ni ciisa; hin kaʼus; hamma samiiwwan darbanittis hin dammaqu yookaan hirribaa hin kaʼu.
So, a man, hath lain down, and shall not arise, until there are no heavens, they shall not awake, nor be roused up out of their sleep.
13 “Maaloo utuu awwaala keessa na dhoksitee hamma dheekkamsi kee darbutti na haguugdee! Maaloo utuu beellama naa kennitee ergasii immoo na yaadattee! (Sheol )
Oh that, in hades, thou wouldst hide me! that thou wouldst keep me secret, until the turn of thine anger, that thou wouldst set for me a fixed time, and remember me: (Sheol )
14 Namni tokko yoo duʼe deebiʼee ni jiraataa? Ani hamma haaromfamni koo dhufutti, bara rakkoo koo hunda obsaan nan eeggadha.
If a man die, can he live again? All the days of my warfare, would I wait, until my relief should come: —
15 Ati na waamta; anis si jalaa nan owwaadha; hojii harka keetiis ni hawwita.
Thou shouldst call, and, I, would answer thee, —For the work of thine own hand, thou shouldst long.
16 Yeroo sana ati tarkaanfii koo ni lakkoofta; cubbuu koo garuu hin toʼattu.
For, now, my steps, thou countest, Thou wilt not pass over my sin:
17 Yakki koo korojootti naqamee chaappeffama; ati cubbuu koo ni haguugda.
Sealed up in a bag, is my transgression, and thou hast glued over mine iniquity.
18 “Garuu akkuma tulluun lolaadhaan dhiqamee jigu, kattaanis iddoo isaatii buqqaʼu sana,
But, in very deed, a mountain falling, will lie prostrate, or, a rock moved out of its place:
19 akkuma bishaan dhagaa nyaatee haphisu, akkuma lolaan biyyoo dhiqu sana, atis akkasuma abdii namaa ni balleessita.
Stones, have been hollowed out by waters, the floods thereof wash away the dust of the earth, and, the hope of mortal man, thou hast destroyed:
20 Ati bara baraan isa ni moota; innis ni bada; bifa isaa ni geeddarta; of irraas isa fageessita.
Thou dost overpower him utterly, and he departeth, Disfiguring his face, so, hast thou sent him away.
21 Yoo ilmaan isaa ulfina argatan inni hin beeku; yoo isaan salphatanis hin argu.
His sons, come to honour, and he knoweth it not, Or they are brought low, and he perceiveth it not of them.
22 Dhukkuba dhagna isaa qofatu isatti dhagaʼama; inni mataa isaa qofaaf booʼa.”
But, his flesh, for himself, is in pain, and, his soul, for himself, doth mourn.
