< Isaayyaas 41 >

1 Waaqayyo akkana jedha; “Yaa biyyoota bishaan gidduu, fuula koo duratti calʼisaa! Saboonni jabina isaanii haa haaromfatan! Isaan fuula duratti baʼanii haa dubbatan; walii wajjin murtiidhaaf haa dhiʼaannu.
Listen to me in silence, you people who live in lands beyond the sea. Let the nations regain their strength. Then let them come and speak, and let us join together for judgment.
2 “Kan baʼa biiftuutii nama tokko kakaasee qajeelummaadhaan tajaajila isaatiif isa waame eenyu? Inni saboota dabarsee harka isaatti kenna; moototas isa jalatti bulcha. Inni goraadee isaatiin daaraa, xiyya isaatiinis habaqii bubbeedhaan bittinnaaʼu isaan godha.
Who has encouraged this one from the east who is called into God's service to do what is right? He gives him nations, and helps him trample kings underfoot. He makes them like dust with his sword, and turns them into chaff with his bow, blown before him on the wind.
3 Inni isaan ariʼee, daandii miilli isaa irra deemee hin beekne irra nagaan darba.
He chases them down, and goes on unharmed, not following the usual routes.
4 Jalqabaa kaasee dhaloota waamee waan kana kan tolchee fi hojjete eenyu? Ani Waaqayyo isa duraa ti; isa dhumaatiifis ani isuma.”
Who has achieved and done this, calling into existence each generation from the beginning of time? I, the Lord, the first and the last, I am the one.
5 Biyyoonni bishaan gidduu arganii sodaatu; daariiwwan lafaa ni hollatu. Isaanis ni dhiʼaatu; gara fuula duraattis dhufu;
The islands watch in fear, the distant lands tremble. They get together and consult.
6 tokkoon tokkoon namaa wal gargaara; obboleessa isaatiinis, “Jabaadhu!” jedha.
They all help each other, encouraging one another to “Be strong!”
7 Tumtuun sibiilaa tumtuu warqee ni jajjabeessa; inni burruusaan wal qixxeessus, isa gemmoo irratti sibiila tumu jajjabeessa. Waaʼee sibiila walitti baqsuu, “Wanni kun gaarii dha” jedha. Akka inni hin sochooneefis Waaqa tolfamaa sana mismaaraan walitti qabsiisa.
The craftsman encourages the goldsmith; the one who beats out the metal with a hammer encourages the one hitting the anvil, saying the soldering is good. They nail the idol down so it won't fall over.
8 “Ati garuu, yaa garbicha koo Israaʼel, yaa Yaaqoob kan ani filadhe, sanyii Abrahaam michuu kootii,
But you, Israel, my servant, Jacob, the ones I have chosen, descendants of my friend Abraham,
9 ani handaara lafaatii si fudhadhe; golee fagoodhaan si waammadhe. Ani, ‘Ati garbicha koo ti’ siin jedhe; ani si filadheera; si hin gannes,
I brought you back from distant lands, I called you back from faraway places, telling you, “You are my servants.” I have chosen you, and I have not abandoned you.
10 Kanaafuu ati hin sodaatin; ani si wajjin jiraatii; hin raafamin; ani Waaqa keetii. Ani sin jabeessa; sin gargaaras; ani harka koo mirgaa qajeelaa sanaan hirkisee ol sin qaba.
Don't be afraid, for I am with you! Don't be frightened for I, your God, will make you strong, and I will certainly help you. I will support you with my strong hand, acting for what is right.
11 “Kunoo, warri sitti aaran hundi, ni qaanaʼu; ni salphatus; warri siin morman akka waan hin jirree taʼu; ni badus.
See—everyone who is angry with you will be ashamed and disgraced. Those who fight against you will end up as nothing and die.
12 Ati diinota kee barbaadduu iyyuu, isaan hin argattu. Warri waraana sitti banan, guutumaan guutuutti akka waan hin jirree taʼan.
Even though you look for your enemies, you won't find them. Those who attack you will become absolutely nothing.
13 Ani Waaqayyo Waaqni kee harka kee mirgaa nan qabaatii; inni, ‘Hin sodaatin; ani sin gargaaraa’ siin jedhus anuma.
For I the Lord will grab you by the hand and tell you, “Don't be afraid! I myself will help you.
14 Yaa Yaaqoob raammoo nana, Yaa Israaʼel xinnoo nana hin sodaatin; ani mataan koo sin gargaaraatii” jedha Waaqayyo, Furaan kee, Qulqullichi Israaʼel sun.
Don't be frightened, Jacob, you little worm, you people of Israel, for I will help you,” declared the Lord your Savior, the Holy One of Israel.
15 “Ani kunoo, meeshaa ittiin midhaan dhaʼan, meeshaa haaraa fi qaramaa kan ilkaan baayʼee qabu sin taasisa. Ati tulluuwwan dhooftee caccabsita; gaarran immoo akka habaqii goota.
Look! I will make you into a new and sharp threshing device, with many pointed teeth. You will thresh the mountains and crush the hills, turning them into chaff.
16 Ati jara ni afarsita; qilleensis ol isaan fudhata; bubbeen jabaan isaan bittinneessa. Ati garuu Waaqayyotti ni gammadda; Qulqullicha Israaʼelinis ulfina argatta.
You will throw them into the air, the wind will carry them away, and a storm will scatter them. Then you will be happy in the Lord, and boast about the Holy One of Israel.
17 “Hiyyeeyyii fi rakkattoonni bishaan barbaadu; garuu homaa hin argatan; arrabni isaanii dheebuudhaan goggogeera. Ani Waaqayyo garuu deebii nan kennaaf; ani Waaqni Israaʼel jara hin gatu.
The poor and needy search for water, but don't find any—their tongues are dry with thirst. I, the Lord, will respond to them; I, the God of Israel, won't abandon them.
18 Lafa ol kaʼaa qullaa irra lageen nan yaasa; sululoota keessa immoo burqaa nan burqisiisa. Gammoojjii haroo bishaaniitti, lafa goges burqaa bishaaniitti nan geeddara.
I will open up rivers in the desolate highlands and springs in the valleys. I will make pools in the wilderness and springs in the desert.
19 Gammoojjii keessatti gaattiraa, laaftoo, kusaayee fi ejersa nan biqilcha. Lafa onaa keessatti immoo, Birbirsa, qararoo fi hadheessa wal faana nan dhaaba.
I will plant cedars, acacias, myrtles, and olive trees in the desert. I will place evergreens in the desert, firs and box trees together.
20 Kunis akka namoonni akka harki Waaqayyoo waan kana hojjete, akka Qulqullichi Israaʼel waan kana uume arganii beekaniif, akkasumas akka hundi isaanii waan kana qalbeeffatanii hubataniif.
In this way everyone can see and know, they can think about it and draw the conclusion that the it is the Lord who has done this, that the Holy One of Israel made it happen.
21 “Dhimma keessan dhiʼeeffadhaa” jedha Waaqayyo; “Ragaa keessan fidadhaa” jedha mootiin Yaaqoob.
“Now you submit your case,” says the Lord. “Present your evidence,” says the King of Jacob.
22 “Akka isaan waan taʼuuf jiru nutti himaniif, waaqota keessan tolfamoo fidadhaa. Akka nu isaan hubannee waan isaan dhuma irratti taʼan beeknuuf, wantoonni bara dur maal akka turan nutti himaa. Yookaan wantoota dhufuuf jiran nutti odeessaa;
“Let them come and tell us what's about to happen. Let them explain the things of the past, so that we can think about them and discover the final outcome. Or they can tell us about the future.
23 akka nu akka isin waaqota taatan beeknuuf, waan fuul duratti taʼuuf jiru nutti himaa. Akka nu rifannee sodaan guutamnuuf, waan gaarii yookaan waan hamaa hojjedhaa.
Predict what's coming so we can know for sure that you are gods. At least do something, good or bad, to impress us when we see it.
24 Kunoo isin wayittuu hin hedamtan; hojiin keessanis gonkumaa gatii hin qabu; kan isin filatu kam iyyuu jibbisiisaa dha.
But look at you! You're nothing, and you can't do anything! Anyone who chooses you is disgusting!
25 “Ani nama tokko kaabaa nan kaase; innis dhufa; inni baʼa biiftuutii dhufus maqaa koo ni waammata. Inni akkuma suphee dhooftuun suphee dhidhiitu sana, bulchitoota akka dhoqqeetti dhidhiita.
I have encouraged the one who comes from the north. He is from the east, and will respect me. He will tread on rulers as if they were mortar, like a potter treading on clay.
26 Akka nu beekuu dandeenyuuf eenyutu jalqabumaa kaasee waan kana dubbate? Yookaan akka nu, ‘Inni sirrii dha’ jechuu dandeenyuuf eenyutu duraan dursee waan kana dubbate? Eenyu iyyuu waan kana hin himne; namni tokko iyyuu duraan dursee hin himne; namni tokko iyyuu dubbii keessan hin dhageenye.
Who announced this beforehand so that we could know about it? Who let us know in the past, so that now we could say: ‘He was right’? None of you announced it, none of you predicted it, and nobody heard you say a word!
27 Namni jalqabatti, ‘Kunoo isaan as jiru!’ jedhee Xiyoonitti hime ana ture. Ani nama oduu gaarii himu tokko Yerusaalemiif kenneera.
I was the first to announce to Zion: ‘Look, here they are!’ I was the one who brought to Jerusalem the good news.
28 Ani nan ilaale; garuu homtuu hin turre; isaan keessaa namni gorsa kennu tokko iyyuu hin jiru; yommuu ani isaan gaafadhus namni deebii kennu tokko iyyuu hin jiru.
I look at these idols, and find there is no one who can say anything. None of them can give advice; when I ask them something, they can't even answer.
29 Kunoo, hundi isaanii faayidaa hin qaban! Hojiin isaaniis gatii hin qabu; fakkiiwwan isaaniis qilleensuma duwwaa dha.
Look at them! They're all evil, deceptive things. They can't do anything! They're just idols full of hot air!”
