1 Dubbiin Waaqayyoo kan bara Uziyaan, Yootaam, Aahaaziitii fi Hisqiyaas mootota Yihuudaa keessa, akkasumas bara Yerobiʼaam ilma Yooʼaash mooticha Israaʼel keessa gara Hooseʼaa ilma Biʼeer dhufe kanaa dha:

The word of Jehovah, which came to Hoses, the son of Beeri, in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam, the son of Joash, king of Israel.

2 Yeroo Waaqayyo karaa Hooseʼaatiin dubbachuu jalqabetti Waaqayyo akkana isaan jedhe; “Sababii biyyattiin Waaqayyo irraa gortee yakka sagaagalummaa guddaa isaa hojjetteef ati dhaqiitii niitii sagaagaltuu fi ijoollee hin amanamne ofii keetiif fudhadhu.”

The beginning of the word of Jehovah by Hosea. Jehovah said to Hosea: Go, and take thee a wife of lewdness, and children of lewdness; for the land hath committed great lewdness; it is false to Jehovah.

3 Kanaafuu inni dhaqee Goomer intala Diblaayiim fuudhe; isheenis ulfooftee ilma deesseef.

So he went, and took Gomer, the daughter of Diblaim; and she conceived and bore him a son.

4 Kana irratti Waaqayyo Hooseʼaatiin akkana jedhe; “Ani sababii dhiiga Yizriʼeel keessatti dhangalaʼe sanaatiif dafee mana Yehuu waanan adabuuf Yizriʼeel jedhii isa moggaasi; ani mootummaa Israaʼel nan balleessa.

And Jehovah said to him, Call his name Jezreel; for yet a little while, and I will avenge the blood of Jezreel upon the house of Jehu, and will bring the kingdom of the house of Israel to an end.

5 Gaafas ani Sulula Yizriʼeel keessatti iddaa Israaʼel nan cabsa.”

Yea, in that day will I break the bow of Israel in the valley of Jezreel.

6 Goomer amma illee ulfooftee intala deesse. Waaqayyo Hooseʼaatiin akkana jedhe; “Sababii ani isaaniif araaramuu fi siʼachis mana Israaʼeliif garaa hin laafneef Loo-Ruhaamaa jedhii ishee moggaasi.

And she conceived again, and bore a daughter. And God said to him, Call her name Unpitied; for I will no more have pity upon the house of Israel, but will surely take them away.

7 Taʼus ani mana Yihuudaatiif garaa nan laafa; ani xiyyaan yookaan goraadeedhaan yookaan waraanaan yookaan fardeeniin yookaan abbootii fardaatiin isaan hin oolchu; garuu ani Waaqayyo Waaqni isaanii isaan nan oolcha.”

But upon the house of Judah will I have pity, and will save them by Jehovah their God; I will not save them by bow, nor by sword, nor by battle, nor by horses, nor by horsemen.

8 Goomer erga Loo-Ruhaamaa harma guusiftee booddee ulfooftee ilma deesse.

Then she weaned her daughter Unpitied, and conceived, and bore a son.

9 Ergasiis Waaqayyo akkana jedhe; “Isin waan saba koo hin taʼinii fi anis Waaqa keessan hin taʼiniif Loo-Amii jedhii isa moggaasi.

And God said, Call his name Not-my-people. For ye are not my people, and I will not be your God.

10 “Taʼus Israaʼel akkuma cirracha qarqara galaanaa kan madaalamuu yookaan hedamuu hin dandaʼamnee taʼa. Isaan iddoodhuma itti, ‘Isin saba koo miti’ isaaniin jedhame sanatti, ‘Ilmaan Waaqa jiraataa’ jedhamanii ni waamamu.

Yet the number of the children of Israel shall be as the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured, or numbered; and in the place where it was said to them, Ye are not my people, there shall it be said to them, Ye are the sons of the living God.

11 Guyyaan Yizriʼeel waan guddaa taʼuuf, sabni Yihuudaatii fi sabni Israaʼel deebiʼanii tokko taʼu; isaan hoogganaa tokko muuddatanii biyya sana keessaa ni baʼu.

Then shall the sons of Judah and the sons of Israel be gathered together, and shall appoint to themselves one head, and shall come up out of the land. For great shall be the day of Jezreel.
