Jeremias 39
1 Da Jerusalem var inntatt - i Judas konge Sedekias' niende år, i den tiende måned, kom Babels konge Nebukadnesar og hele hans hær til Jerusalem og kringsatte byen;
In the ninth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the tenth month, came Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon and all his force against Jerusalem, and they besieged it.
2 i Sedekias' ellevte år, i den fjerde måned, på den niende dag i måneden, brøt de inn i byen -
In the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month on the ninth of the month, was the city broken into.
3 da kom alle Babels konges stormenn inn og satte sig i Midtporten, Nergal-Sareser, Samgar-Nebu, Sarsekim, den øverste hoffmann, Nergal-Sareser, den øverste av magerne, og alle de andre stormenn hos Babels konge.
Then came in all the princes of the king of Babylon, and sat in the middle gate, —Nergal-sharezer, Samgar-nebo, Sarsechim, chief eunuch Nergal-sharezer, chief soothsayer, and all the residue of the princes of the king of Babylon.
4 Men da Judas konge Sedekias og alle krigsmennene så dem, flyktet de og drog om natten ut av byen på veien til kongens have gjennem porten mellem begge murene; og kongen tok veien ut til ødemarken.
And it came to pass as soon as Zedekiah king of Judah and all the men of war saw them, that they fled, and went forth by night out of the city, by way of the king’s garden, through the gate between the two walls, —and he went forth by way of the waste plain.
5 Og kaldeernes hær satte efter dem og nådde Sedekias igjen på Jerikos ødemarker, og de tok ham og førte ham op til Babels konge Nebukadnesar i Ribla i Hamat-landet, og han avsa dom over ham.
But the force of the Chaldeans pursued them, and overtook Zedekiah in the waste plains of Jericho, and when they had taken him, they brought him up unto Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, to Riblah, in the land of Hamath, —and pronounced upon him sentences of judgment.
6 Og Babels konge drepte Sedekias' sønner i Ribla for hans øine; likeså drepte Babels konge alle de fornemme i Juda.
And the king of Babylon slew the sons of Zedekiah, in Riblah before his eyes, —and all the nobles of Judah, did the king of Babylon slay;
7 Og Sedekias lot han blinde, og han lot ham binde med to kobberlenker for å føre ham til Babel.
and the eyes of Zedekiah, did he put out, and bound him with fetters of bronze to bring him into Babylon.
8 Og kongens hus og de hus som hørte folket til, brente kaldeerne op med ild, og Jerusalems murer rev de ned.
And the house of the king, and the houses of the people, did the Chaldeans burn with fire, and the walls of Jerusalem, brake they down;
9 Og resten av folket, dem som var blitt tilbake i byen, og overløperne som var gått over til ham, og resten av folket, dem som var blitt tilbake, dem bortførte Nebusaradan, høvdingen over livvakten, til Babel.
and the remnant of the people who were left in the city, and the disheartened who fell away unto him, and the remnant of the people who were left, did Nebuzaradan chief of the royal executioners, take captive to Babylon.
10 Bare nogen av almuen, som ikke eide noget, lot Nebusaradan, høvdingen over livvakten, bli tilbake i Juda land, og på samme tid gav han dem vingårder og akrer.
But of the poor people, who had, nothing, did Nebuzaradan chief of the royal executioners, leave remaining in the land of Judah, and gave them vineyards and ploughed fields on the same day.
11 Og Babels konge Nebukadnesar gav Nebusaradan, høvdingen over livvakten, befaling om Jeremias og sa:
Then Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon gave command, concerning Jeremiah, —through Nebuzaradan chief of the royal executioners saying:
12 Ta ham og la ditt øie våke over ham og gjør ham ikke noget ondt! Gjør med ham således som han selv sier til dig!
Take him and, thine eyes, set thou upon him, and do not unto him any harmful thing, —but just as he shall speak unto thee, so, shalt thou do with him.
13 Da sendte Nebusaradan, høvdingen over livvakten, og Nebusasban, den øverste av hoffmennene, og Nergal-Sareser, den øverste av magerne, og alle Babels konges stormenn,
So Nebuzaradan chief of the royal executioners, sent, also Nebushazban, chief of the eunuchs, and Nergal-sharezer chief of the magi, and all the chiefs of the king of Babylon;
14 de sendte bud og tok Jeremias ut av vaktgården, og de overgav ham til Gedalja, sønn av Akikam, Safans sønn, forat han skulde føre ham ut til sitt hus; og han blev boende der blandt folket.
yea they sent and fetched Jeremiah out of the guard-court, and delivered him unto Gedaliah son of Ahikam son of Shaphan, to bring him forth into a home, so he dwelt in the midst of the people.
15 Men til Jeremias var Herrens ord kommet da han satt fast i vaktgården, og det lød så:
Now unto Jeremiah, had come the word of Yahweh, while he was yet shut up in the guard-court, saying:
16 Gå og si til etioperen Ebed-Melek: Så sier Herren, hærskarenes Gud, Israels Gud: Se, jeg lar mine ord komme over denne by til det onde og ikke til det gode, og de skal bli opfylt for dine øine på den dag.
Go and speak to Ebed-melech the Ethiopian, saying, —Thus saith Yahweh of hosts God of Israel, Behold me! bringing about my words against this city, for, calamity—and not for blessing, —and they shall come to pass before thee, in that day.
17 Men jeg vil redde dig på den dag, sier Herren, og du skal ikke bli overgitt i de menns hånd som du gruer for.
But I will deliver thee in that day, Declareth Yahweh, —and thou shalt not be given up into the hand of the men from the face of whom, thou, mightest shrink with fear.
18 For jeg vil la dig undkomme, og du skal ikke falle for sverdet, men du skal få ditt liv til krigsbytte, fordi du satte din lit til mig, sier Herren.
For I will, surely, deliver, thee, and by the sword, shalt thou not fall, —but thou shalt have thine own life as a spoil, Because thou hast trusted in me, Declareth Yahweh.
