यर्मिया 37

1 यहोयाकीमका छोरा यहोयाकीनको सट्टामा योशियाहका छोरा सिदकियाहले राजा भएर राज्‍य गरे । बेबिलोनका राजा नबूकदनेसरले सिदकियाहलाई यहूदा देशका राजा बनाएका थिए ।

And Zedekiah son of Josiah reigned as king, instead of Coniah son of Jehoiakim, whom Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, made king, in the land of Judah.

2 तर सिदकियाह, तिनका सेवकहरू र देशका मानिसले यर्मिया अगमवक्ताको हातद्वारा परमप्रभुले घोषणा गर्नुभएको उहाँको वचनलाई सुनेनन् ।

But neither he, nor his servants, nor the people of the land had hearkened unto the words of Yahweh, which he had spoken through Jeremiah the prophet.

3 त्यसैले राजा सिदकियाह, शेलेम्याहका छोरा यहूकल र मासेयाहका छोरा सपन्याह पुजारीले यर्मिया अगमवक्तालाई एउटा सन्देश पठाए । तिनीहरूले यसो भने, “हाम्रा निम्ति परमप्रभु हाम्रा परमेश्‍वरसँग प्रार्थना गर ।”

And King Zedekiah sent Jehucal son of Shelemiah, and Zephaniah son of Maaseiah the priest unto Jeremiah the prophet saying, —Pray thou I beseech thee in our behalf, unto Yahweh, our God.

4 यस बेला यर्मिया मानिसहरूकहाँ आउने र जाने गर्थे, किनकि तिनलाई अझै पनि थुनामा राखिएको थिएन ।

Now, Jeremiah, was coming in and going out in the midst of the people, for they had not put him into prison.

5 फारोको सेना मिश्रदेशबाट आयो, र यरूशलेमलाई घेराबन्दी गर्ने कल्दीहरूले तिनीहरूका बारेमा खबर सुने र यरूशलेम छाडे ।

And the force of Pharaoh had come forth out of Egypt, —and, when the Chaldeans who were besieging Jerusalem heard the tidings of them, they went up from Jerusalem.

6 तब परमप्रभुको वचन यर्मिया अगमवक्ताकहाँ यसो भनेर आयो,

Then came the word of Yahweh unto Jeremiah the prophet, saying:

7 “परमप्रभु इस्राएलका परमेश्‍वर यसो भन्‍नुहुन्छः यहूदाका राजाले मबाट सल्लाह लिन तँकहाँ मानिसहरू पठाएको हुनाले तैंले उसलाई यसो भन्‍नेछस्, 'हेर्नुहोस्, तपाईंलाई मदत गर्न आएको फारोको सेना आफ्नै देश, मिश्रदेशमा फर्केर जानै लागेको छ ।

Thus, saith Yahweh, God of Israel, Thus, shall ye say unto the king of Judah, who sent you unto me to enquire of me, —Lo! the force of Pharaoh which is coming out to you to help is about to return to its own land to Egypt;

8 कल्दीहरू फर्केर आउनेछन् । तिनीहरूले यस सहरको विरुद्धमा युद्ध गर्नेछन्, यसलाई कब्जा गर्नेछन्, र जलाउनेछन् ।'

Then will the Chaldeans come back, and fight against this city, —and capture it and burn it with fire.

9 परमप्रभु यसो भन्‍नुहुन्छः यसो भनेर आफैलाई धोका नदिनुहोस्, 'निश्‍चय पनि कल्दीहरूले हामीलाई छाडेर जाँदैछन्,' किनकि तिनीहरू छोड्‍नेछैनन् ।

Thus, saith Yahweh, —Let not your own souls, deceive you saying, The Chaldeans will, surely depart, from us! For they will not depart;

10 तपाईंको विरुद्धमा लड्ने सम्पूर्ण कल्दी सेनालाई तपाईंले जितेको, जसले गर्दा पालहरूमा घाइते मानिसहरू मात्र छाडिएको भए पनि तिनीहरू उठ्‍नेछन् र यस सहरलाई जलाउनेछन् ।”

For though ye had smitten all the force of the Chaldeans who are fighting with you and there had remained of them only desperately wounded men, yet, every man in his tent, should have arisen and burnt this city with fire.

11 त्‍यसैले फारोको सेना आउँदै गर्दा कल्दीको सेनाले यरूशलेम छाड्यो,

Now it came to pass, when the army of the Chaldeans, had gone up from Jerusalem, —because of the force of Pharaoh,

12 तब यर्मिया यरूशलेमबाट प्रस्थान गरेर बेन्यामीनको इलाकामा गए । त्यहाँ तिनले आफ्ना मानिसहरूका बिचमा आफ्नो जग्गाको अंश लिन चाहन्थे ।

then went forth Jeremiah out of Jerusalem to go into the land of Benjamin, —to receive a portion from thence in the midst of the people.

13 जसै तिनी बेन्यामीनको मूल ढोकामा पुगे, त्यहाँ मुख्य पहरेदार थिए । तिनको नाउँ यिरियाह थियो, जो हनन्याहका नाति, शेलेम्याहका छोरा थिए । तिनले यर्मिया अगमवक्तालाई समाते र भने, “तिमी कल्दीहरूकहाँ भागेर जाँदैछौ ।”

And so it came to pass he being in the gate of Benjamin and there being there a ward-master whose name was Irijah son of Shelemiah son of Hananiah, that he seized Jeremiah the prophet, saying, Unto the Chaldeans, art thou falling away!

14 तर यर्मियाले भने, “त्यो साँचो होइन । म कल्दीहरूकहाँ भागेर जानेछैन ।” तर यिरियाहले तिनको कुरा सुनेनन् । तिनले यर्मियालाई समाते र अधिकारीहरूकहाँ लगे ।

Then said Jeremiah, False! I am not falling away unto the Chaldeans! Howbeit he hearkened not unto him, —so Irijah seized Jeremiah, and brought him in unto the princes.

15 अधिकारीहरू यर्मियासित रिसाए । तिनीहरूले तिनलाई कुटे र थुनामा हाले जुन सचिव जोनाथनको घर थियो, किनकि तिनीहरूले यसलाई झ्यालखानामा परिणत गरेका थिए ।

Then were the princes wroth against Jeremiah, and smote him, —and put him in prison, in the house of Jonathan the scribe, for that, had they made the prison.

16 यसरी यर्मियालाई झ्यालखानाको कालकोठरीमा हालियो, जहाँ तिनी धेरै दिनसम्म रहे ।

When Jeremiah had entered into the dungeon-house and into the cells, and Jeremiah, had remained there many days,

17 तब राजा सिदकियाहले कसैलाई पठाए जसले तिनलाई दरबारमा ल्याए । आफ्नो महलमा राजाले तिनलाई गुप्‍तमा सोधे, “के परमप्रभुबाट कुनै वचन आएको छ?” यर्मियाले जवाफ दिए, “वचन छः तपाईंलाई बेबिलोनका राजाको हातमा दिइनेछ ।”

then sent King Zedekiah—and fetched him, and the king asked him, in his own house secretly, and said, —Is there a word from Yahweh? And Jeremiah said, —There is, for (said he), Into the hand of the king of Babylon, shalt thou be delivered!

18 तब यर्मियाले सिदकियाह राजालाई भने, “तपाईं, तपाईंका सेवकहरू र यी मानिसहरूको विरुद्धमा मैले कसरी पाप गरें जसको कारण तपाईंले मलाई झ्यालखानामा हाल्‍नुभयो?

And Jeremiah said unto King Zedekiah, —What sin have I committed against thee, or against thy servants or against this people, that ye have delivered me up into prison?

19 तपाईंका ती अगमवक्ताहरू कहाँ छन् जसले तपाईंको निम्‍ति अगमवाणी बोले र यसो भने, कि बेबिलोनका राजा तपाईं र यस देशको विरुद्धमा आउनेछैनन्?

Where, then are your prophets, who prophesied unto you saying, —The king of Babylon shall not come, against you nor against this land?

20 तर हे मेरा मालिक राजा, अब सुन्‍नुहोस् । मेरा बिन्ती हजुरको सामु राख्‍न दिनुहोस् । मलाई सचिव जोनाथनको घरमा नफर्काउनुहोस्, नत्रता म त्यहीँ मर्नेछु ।”

Now therefore, hear I beseech thee, O my lord the king, —Let my, supplication, I pray thee, fall prostrate before thee, and do not cause me to return unto the house of Jonathan the scribe, lest I die there!

21 त्यसैले राजा सिदकियाहले एउटा हुकुम दिए । तिनका अधिकारीहरूले यर्मियालाई गारदको चोकमा थुने । सहरमा सबै रोटी नसकुञ्जेलसम्म तिनलाई हरेक दिन एउटा रोटी दिइन्थ्यो । यसरी यर्मिया गारदको चोकमा रहे ।

Then King Zedekiah gave command and they committed Jeremiah into the guard-court, and [said] that there should be given him a cake of bread daily, out of the baker’s street, until all the bread out of the city should be spent, So Jeremiah remained in the guard-court.
