1 Labo abathembela eNkosini banjengentaba iZiyonienganyikinyekiyo, emi kuze kube phakade.

[A Song of Ascents.] Those who trust in the LORD are as Mount Zion, which cannot be moved, but remains forever.

2 Njengezintaba ziyiphahlile iJerusalema, ngokunjalo iNkosi iyabaphahla abantu bayo kusukela kulesisikhathi kuze kube nininini.

As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the LORD surrounds his people from this time forth and forevermore.

3 Ngoba intonga yobukhosi yobubi kayiyikuhlala phezu kwesabelo sabalungileyo, ukuze abalungileyo bangeluleli izandla zabo kokubi.

For the scepter of wickedness won't remain over the allotment of the righteous; so that the righteous won't use their hands to do evil.

4 Nkosi, yenza okuhle kubo abalungileyo lakubo abaqotho enhliziyweni zabo.

Do good, LORD, to those who are good, to those who are upright in their hearts.

5 Kodwa labo abaphambukela ezindleleni zabo ezitshekileyo iNkosi izabenza bahambe labenzi bobubi. Ukuthula phezu kukaIsrayeli!

But as for those who turn aside to their crooked ways, The LORD will lead them away with evildoers. Peace be on Israel.
