സദൃശവാക്യങ്ങൾ 6

1 ൧ മകനേ, കൂട്ടുകാരനു വേണ്ടി നീ ജാമ്യം നില്ക്കുകയോ അന്യനുവേണ്ടി കൈയടിച്ച് ഉറപ്പ് നൽകുകയോ ചെയ്തിട്ടുണ്ടെങ്കിൽ,

My son, If thou hast become surety for thy friend, if thou hast struck thy hand for a stranger;

2 ൨ നിന്റെ വായിലെ വാക്കുകളാൽ നീ ചതിക്കപ്പെട്ടു; നിന്റെ വായിലെ മൊഴികളാൽ നീ കെണിയിലായി.

If thou art ensnared through the words of thy mouth, if thou art caught through the words of thy mouth:

3 ൩ ആകയാൽ മകനേ, ഇത് ചെയ്യുക; നിന്നെത്തന്നെ വിടുവിക്കുക; കൂട്ടുകാരന്റെ കൈകളിൽ നീ അകപ്പെട്ടുപോയല്ലോ; നീ ചെന്ന്, താണുവീണ് കൂട്ടുകാരനോട് മുട്ടിപ്പായി അപേക്ഷിക്കുക.

[Then] do this by all means, my son, and deliver thyself, because thou art come into the power of thy friend, Go hasten to him, and urge thy friend.

4 ൪ നിന്റെ കണ്ണിന് ഉറക്കവും നിന്റെ കൺപോളകൾക്ക് നിദ്രയും കൊടുക്കരുത്.

Grant not any sleep to thy eyes, nor slumber to thy eyelids.

5 ൫ മാൻ നായാട്ടുകാരന്റെ കൈയിൽനിന്നും പക്ഷി വേട്ടക്കാരന്റെ കൈയിൽനിന്നും എന്നപോലെ നീ നിന്നെത്തന്നെ വിടുവിക്കുക,

Deliver thyself as a roebuck from the hand [of the hunter], and as a bird from the hand of the fowler.

6 ൬ മടിയാ, ഉറുമ്പിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെല്ലുക; അതിന്റെ വഴികൾ നോക്കി ബുദ്ധിപഠിക്കുക.

Go to the ant, thou sluggard; look on her ways, and become wise.

7 ൭ അതിന് നായകനും മേൽവിചാരകനും അധിപതിയും ഇല്ലാതിരുന്നിട്ടും

She, that hath no prince, officer, or ruler,

8 ൮ വേനല്ക്കാലത്ത് തന്റെ ആഹാരം ഒരുക്കുന്നു; കൊയ്ത്തുകാലത്ത് തന്റെ ഭക്ഷണം ശേഖരിക്കുന്നു.

Provideth in the summer her provision, gathereth in harvest-time her food.

9 ൯ മടിയാ, നീ എത്രനേരം കിടന്നുറങ്ങും? എപ്പോൾ ഉറക്കത്തിൽ നിന്നെഴുന്നേല്ക്കും?

How long, O sluggard, wilt thou lie down? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?

10 ൧൦ കുറേക്കൂടെ ഉറക്കം; കുറേക്കൂടെ നിദ്ര; കുറേക്കൂടെ കൈകെട്ടിക്കിടപ്പ്.

“A little [more] sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands in lying down;”

11 ൧൧ അങ്ങനെ നിന്റെ ദാരിദ്ര്യം വഴിപോക്കനെപ്പോലെയും നിന്റെ ബുദ്ധിമുട്ട് ആയുധധാരിയെപ്പോലെയും വരും.

But then will thy poverty come like a rover, and thy want as a man armed with a shield.

12 ൧൨ നിസ്സാരനും ദുഷ്കർമ്മിയുമായവൻ വായുടെ വക്രതയോടെ നടക്കുന്നു.

A Godless person is a man of injustice, who walketh with a distorted mouth.

13 ൧൩ അവൻ കണ്ണിമയ്ക്കുന്നു; കാൽ കൊണ്ട് തോണ്ടുന്നു; വിരൽകൊണ്ട് ആംഗ്യം കാണിക്കുന്നു.

He blinketh with his eyes, he scrapeth with his feet, he pointeth with his fingers;

14 ൧൪ അവന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിൽ വക്രതയുണ്ട്; അവൻ എല്ലായ്പോഴും ദോഷം നിരൂപിച്ച് വഴക്കുണ്ടാക്കുന്നു.

Perverseness is in his heart, he contriveth evil at all times; he scattereth abroad discord.

15 ൧൫ അതുകൊണ്ട് അവന്റെ ആപത്ത് പെട്ടെന്ന് വരും; ക്ഷണത്തിൽ അവൻ തകർന്നുപോകും; പരിഹാരമുണ്ടാകുകയുമില്ല.

Therefore shall suddenly come his calamity: unawares shalt he be broken without a remedy.

16 ൧൬ ആറ് കാര്യം യഹോവ വെറുക്കുന്നു; ഏഴു കാര്യം അവന് അറപ്പാകുന്നു:

Six things there are which the Lord hateth; and seven are an abomination unto his spirit:

17 ൧൭ ഗർവ്വമുള്ള കണ്ണും വ്യാജമുള്ള നാവും കുറ്റമില്ലാത്ത രക്തം ചൊരിയുന്ന കയ്യും

Haughty eyes, a tongue of falsehood, and hands that shed innocent blood,

18 ൧൮ ദുരുപായം നിരൂപിക്കുന്ന ഹൃദയവും ദോഷത്തിനു ബദ്ധപ്പെട്ട് ഓടുന്ന കാലും

A heart that contriveth plans of injustice, feet that hasten to run after evil,

19 ൧൯ ഭോഷ്ക് പറയുന്ന കള്ളസാക്ഷിയും സഹോദരന്മാരുടെ ഇടയിൽ വഴക്കുണ്ടാക്കുന്നവനും തന്നെ.

A false witness that eagerly uttereth lies, and him that scattereth abroad discord among brethren.

20 ൨൦ മകനേ, നിന്റെ അപ്പന്റെ കല്പന പ്രമാണിക്കുക; അമ്മയുടെ ഉപദേശം ഉപേക്ഷിക്കുകയുമരുത്.

Keep, O my son, the commandment of thy father, and reject not the teaching of thy mother:

21 ൨൧ അത് എല്ലായ്പോഴും നിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തോട് ബന്ധിച്ചുകൊള്ളുക; നിന്റെ കഴുത്തിൽ അത് കെട്ടിക്കൊള്ളുക.

Bind them upon thy heart continually, tie them about thy throat.

22 ൨൨ നീ നടക്കുമ്പോൾ അത് നിനക്ക് വഴികാണിക്കും. നീ ഉറങ്ങുമ്പോൾ അത് നിന്നെ കാക്കും; നീ ഉണരുമ്പോൾ അത് നിന്നോട് സംസാരിക്കും.

When thou walkest, it shall lead thee; when thou liest down, it shall watch over thee; and when thou art awake, it shall converse with thee.

23 ൨൩ കല്പന ഒരു ദീപവും ഉപദേശം ഒരു വെളിച്ചവും പ്രബോധനത്തിന്റെ ശാസനകൾ ജീവന്റെ മാർഗ്ഗവും ആകുന്നു.

For the commandment is a lamp, and the law is light; and the way of life are the admonitions of correction:

24 ൨൪ അവ ദുഷ്ടസ്ത്രീയുടെ വശീകരണത്തിൽ നിന്നും പരസ്ത്രീയുടെ ചക്കരവാക്കുകളിൽനിന്നും നിന്നെ രക്ഷിക്കും.

To guard thee against a bad woman, from the flattery of an alien tongue.

25 ൨൫ അവളുടെ സൗന്ദര്യത്തെ നിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിൽ മോഹിക്കരുത്; അവൾ കണ്ണിമകൊണ്ട് നിന്നെ വശീകരിക്കുകയുമരുത്.

Covet not her beauty in thy heart, and let her not conquer thee with her eyelids.

26 ൨൬ വേശ്യാസ്ത്രീനിമിത്തം പുരുഷൻ പെറുക്കിത്തിന്നേണ്ടിവരും; വ്യഭിചാരിണി വിലയേറിയ ജീവനെ വേട്ടയാടുന്നു.

For by means of a harlot [one is brought down] to the last loaf of bread: and an adulterous woman will even hunt for the precious life,

27 ൨൭ ഒരു മനുഷ്യന് തന്റെ വസ്ത്രം വെന്തുപോകാതെ മടിയിൽ തീ കൊണ്ടുവരാമോ?

Can a man gather up fire in his lap, and shall his clothes not be burnt?

28 ൨൮ ഒരുത്തനു കാൽ പൊള്ളാതെ തീക്കനലിന്മേൽ നടക്കാമോ?

Can a man walk along upon hot coals, and shall his feet not be burnt?

29 ൨൯ കൂട്ടുകാരന്റെ ഭാര്യയുടെ അടുക്കൽ ചെല്ലുന്നവൻ ഇങ്ങനെതന്നെ; അവളെ തൊടുന്ന ഒരുത്തനും ശിക്ഷ വരാതെയിരിക്കുകയില്ല.

So it is with him that goeth in to his neighbor's wife: no one that toucheth her shall remain unpunished.

30 ൩൦ കള്ളൻ വിശന്നിട്ട് വിശപ്പടക്കുവാൻ മാത്രം മോഷ്ടിച്ചാൽ ആരും അവനെ നിന്ദിക്കുന്നില്ല.

Men do not despise the thief, if he steal, to gratify his craving when he is hungry:

31 ൩൧ അവൻ പിടിക്കപ്പെട്ടാൽ അവൻ ഏഴിരട്ടി മടക്കിക്കൊടുക്കണം; തന്റെ വീട്ടിലെ വസ്തുവക ഒക്കെയും കൊടുക്കേണ്ടിവരാം;

And if he be found, he must pay sevenfold; all the wealth his house must he give.

32 ൩൨ സ്ത്രീയോട് വ്യഭിചാരം ചെയ്യുന്നവനോ, ബുദ്ധിഹീനൻ; അങ്ങനെ ചെയ്യുന്നവൻ സ്വന്തപ്രാണനെ നശിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

But whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh sense: he that is the destroyer of his soul, will alone do this.

33 ൩൩ പ്രഹരവും അപമാനവും അവനു ലഭിക്കും; അവന്റെ നിന്ദ മാഞ്ഞുപോകുകയുമില്ല.

Plague and disgrace will he meet with; and his reproach will not be blotted out.

34 ൩൪ ജാരശങ്ക പുരുഷന് ക്രോധഹേതുവാകുന്നു; പ്രതികാരദിവസത്തിൽ അവൻ ഇളവ് നൽകുകയില്ല.

For jealousy is the fury of a husband, and he will not spare on the day of vengeance.

35 ൩൫ അവൻ യാതൊരു നഷ്ടപരിഹാരവും സ്വീകരിക്കുകയില്ല; എത്ര സമ്മാനം കൊടുത്താലും അവൻ തൃപ്തിപ്പെടുകയുമില്ല.

He will not regard the appearance of any ransom; and he will not be content, though thou give ever so many bribes.
