1 ശമൂവേൽ 10

1 അപ്പോൾ ശമുവേൽ തൈലപാത്രമെടുത്ത് ശൗലിന്റെ തലയിൽ ഒഴിച്ചു; അവനെ ചുംബിച്ചിട്ട് അദ്ദേഹം പറഞ്ഞു: “യഹോവ തന്റെ അവകാശമായ ജനത്തിനു നായകനായി നിന്നെ അഭിഷേകംചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

Then Samuel tooke a viole of oyle and powred it vpon his head, and kissed him, and saide, Hath not the Lord anointed thee to be gouernour ouer his inheritance?

2 നീ ഇന്ന് എന്നെവിട്ടു യാത്രയാകുമ്പോൾ ബെന്യാമീൻദേശത്തിന്റെ അതിരിങ്കൽ, സെൽസഹിൽ, റാഹേലിന്റെ കല്ലറയ്ക്കരികിൽവെച്ച് രണ്ടു പുരുഷന്മാരെ കണ്ടുമുട്ടും. ‘നിങ്ങൾ തെരയുന്നതിന് പുറപ്പെട്ട കഴുതകളെ കണ്ടുകിട്ടിയിരിക്കുന്നു. ഇപ്പോൾ നിന്റെ പിതാവ് കഴുതകളുടെ കാര്യം വിട്ടിട്ട് നിങ്ങളെപ്പറ്റി ചിന്തിച്ച്, “എന്റെ മകനുവേണ്ടി ഞാൻ എന്തു ചെയ്യണം?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് ആകുലചിത്തനായും കഴിയുന്നു,’ എന്ന് അവർ നിന്നോടു പറയും.

When thou shalt depart from me this day, thou shalt finde two men by Rahels sepulchre in the border of Beniamin, euen at Zelzah, and they will say vnto thee, The asses which thou wentest to seeke, are founde: and lo, thy father hath left the care of the asses, and soroweth for you, saying, What shall I doe for my sonne?

3 “അവിടെനിന്ന് നീ മുമ്പോട്ടുപോയി താബോരിലെ കരുവേലകവൃക്ഷത്തിനരികെ എത്തുമ്പോൾ, ബേഥേലിൽ ദൈവസന്നിധിയിലേക്കു പോകുന്ന മൂന്നു പുരുഷന്മാരെ നീ കണ്ടുമുട്ടും. അവരിൽ ഒരാൾ മൂന്നു കോലാട്ടിൻകുട്ടികളെയും രണ്ടാമൻ മൂന്ന് അപ്പവും മൂന്നാമൻ ഒരു തുരുത്തി വീഞ്ഞും എടുത്തിട്ടുണ്ടാകും.

Then shalt thou go forth from thence and shalt come to the plaine of Tabor, and there shall meete thee three men going vp to God to Bethel: one carying three kiddes, and an other carying three loaues of bread, and another carying a bottle of wine:

4 അവർ നിന്നെ അഭിവാദ്യംചെയ്ത് രണ്ടപ്പം നിനക്കു നൽകും. അതു നീ അവരിൽനിന്ന് സ്വീകരിക്കണം.

And they will aske thee if all be well, and will giue thee the two loaues of bread, which thou shalt receiue of their handes.

5 “അതിനുശേഷം നീ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ഗിരിയായ ഗിബെയയിൽ എത്തണം. അവിടെ ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ സൈനിക കാവൽത്താവളം സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നു. നീ പട്ടണത്തോടു സമീപിക്കുമ്പോൾ, മുമ്പിൽ വീണ, തപ്പ്, കുഴൽ, കിന്നരം എന്നിവ വായിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് മലയിൽനിന്നിറങ്ങിവരുന്ന ഒരു പ്രവാചകഗണത്തെ കാണും. അവർ പ്രവചിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കും.

After that shalt thou come to the hill of God, where is the garisons of the Philistims: and when thou art come thither to the citie, thou shalt meete a companie of Prophets comming downe from the hie place with a viole, and a tymbrell, and a pipe, and an harpe before them, and they shall prophecie.

6 അപ്പോൾ യഹോവയുടെ ആത്മാവ് നിന്റെമേൽ ശക്തിയോടെ വന്ന് ആവസിക്കും; നീയും അവരോടൊത്തു പ്രവചിക്കും. അങ്ങനെ നീ മറ്റൊരാളായി മാറും.

Then the Spirit of the Lord will come vpon thee, and thou shalt prophecie with them, and shalt be turned into another man.

7 ഈ ചിഹ്നങ്ങളെല്ലാം നിറവേറുമ്പോൾ നിനക്കു യുക്തമെന്നു തോന്നുന്നതു ചെയ്യുക; ദൈവം നിന്നോടുകൂടെയുണ്ട്.

Therefore when these signes shall come vnto to thee, doe as occasion shall serue: for God is with thee.

8 “നീ എനിക്കുമുമ്പായി ഗിൽഗാലിലേക്കു പോകണം! ഹോമയാഗങ്ങളും സമാധാനയാഗങ്ങളും അർപ്പിക്കാനായി ഞാൻ തീർച്ചയായും അവിടെ നിന്റെയടുക്കൽ ഇറങ്ങിവരും. എന്നാൽ ഞാനവിടെ വന്നെത്തി നീ എന്തു ചെയ്യണം എന്നു പറയുന്നതുവരെ ഏഴുദിവസം എനിക്കായി കാത്തിരിക്കണം.”

And thou shalt goe downe before me to Gilgal: and I also will come downe vnto thee to offer burnt offerings, and to sacrifice sacrifices of peace. Tary for me seuen dayes, till I come to thee and shewe thee what thou shalt doe.

9 ശമുവേലിന്റെ അടുത്തുനിന്നു പോകാനായി ശൗൽ തിരിഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ ദൈവം അവനു വേറൊരു ഹൃദയം നൽകി. അന്നുതന്നെ ഈ ചിഹ്നങ്ങളെല്ലാം നിറവേറി.

And when he had turned his backe to goe from Samuel, God gaue him another heart: and all those tokens came to passe that same day.

10 അവർ ഗിബെയയിൽ എത്തിയപ്പോൾ ഒരു പ്രവാചകഗണം അവർക്കെതിരേ വന്നു. ദൈവാത്മാവ് ശക്തിയോടെ ശൗലിന്മേൽ വന്ന് ആവസിച്ചു. അവരോടൊത്ത് അദ്ദേഹവും പ്രവചിച്ചു.

And when they came thither to the hill, beholde, the companie of Prophets meete him, and the Spirit of God came vpon him, and he prophecied among them.

11 നേരത്തേ ശൗലിനെ അറിയാവുന്നവർ അദ്ദേഹവും പ്രവാചകന്മാരോടൊത്തു പ്രവചിക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടപ്പോൾ: “കീശിന്റെ മകന് എന്തുപറ്റി? ശൗലും പ്രവാചകഗണത്തിലുണ്ടോ?” എന്നു പരസ്പരം ചോദിച്ചു.

Therefore all the people that knewe him before, when they saw that he prophecied among the Prophets, saide eche to other, What is come vnto the sonne of Kish? is Saul also among the Prophets?

12 അവിടത്തുകാരിൽ ഒരാൾ അതിനു മറുപടിയായി: “ആരാണ് അവരുടെ നേതാവ്?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. അങ്ങനെ “ശൗലും പ്രവാചകഗണത്തിലോ?” എന്നത് ഒരു പഴഞ്ചൊല്ലായിത്തീർന്നു.

And one of the same place answered, and said, But who is their father? Therefore it was a prouerbe, Is Saul also among the Prophets?

13 ശൗൽ പ്രവചിച്ചുതീർന്നപ്പോൾ, അദ്ദേഹം ഗിബെയയിലെ മലയിലേക്കുപോയി.

And when he had made an ende of prophecying, he came to the hie place.

14 അപ്പോൾ ശൗലിന്റെ പിതൃസഹോദരൻ ശൗലിനെയും ഭൃത്യനെയും കണ്ടിട്ട്, “നിങ്ങൾ എവിടെയായിരുന്നു?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. “ഞങ്ങൾ കഴുതകളെ തെരയുകയായിരുന്നു. അവയെ കണ്ടെത്താൻകഴിയാതെവന്നപ്പോൾ ഞങ്ങൾ ശമുവേൽ പ്രവാചകന്റെ അടുത്തുപോയി,” എന്നു ശൗൽ മറുപടി നൽകി.

And Sauls vncle saide vnto him, and to his seruant, Whither went ye? And he saide, To seeke the asses: and when we sawe that they were no where, we came to Samuel.

15 ശൗലിന്റെ പിതൃസഹോദരൻ: “ശമുവേൽ നിങ്ങളോടെന്തു പറഞ്ഞു? എന്നോടു പറയുക!” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And Sauls vncle saide, Tell me, I pray thee, what Samuel said vnto you.

16 “കഴുതകളെ കണ്ടെത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം ഞങ്ങളോട് ഉറപ്പായി പറഞ്ഞു” എന്ന് ശൗൽ മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു. രാജത്വത്തെപ്പറ്റി ശമുവേൽ പറഞ്ഞതൊന്നും ശൗൽ തന്റെ പിതൃസഹോദരനെ അറിയിച്ചില്ല.

Then Saul saide to his vncle, He tolde vs plainely that the asses were founde: but concerning the kingdome whereof Samuel spake, tolde he him not.

17 ശമുവേൽ ഇസ്രായേൽജനത്തെയെല്ലാം മിസ്പായിൽ യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയിൽ വിളിച്ചുവരുത്തി.

And Samuel assembled the people vnto the Lord in Mizpeh,

18 അദ്ദേഹം അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞു: “ഇസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: ‘ഞാൻ ഇസ്രായേലിനെ ഈജിപ്റ്റിൽനിന്ന് കൊണ്ടുവന്നു; ഈജിപ്റ്റിന്റെയും നിങ്ങളെ ഞെരുക്കിയ സകലരാഷ്ട്രങ്ങളുടെയും പിടിയിൽനിന്ന് നിങ്ങളെ വിടുവിച്ചു.’

And he saide vnto the children of Israel, Thus saith ye Lord God of Israel, I haue brought Israel out of Egypt, and deliuered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the handes of all kingdomes that troubled you.

19 എന്നാൽ സകല ആപത്തുകളിൽനിന്നും കഷ്ടതകളിൽനിന്നും രക്ഷിക്കുന്ന നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവത്തെ നിങ്ങളിന്നു തിരസ്കരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; ‘ഞങ്ങൾക്കൊരു രാജാവിനെ വാഴിച്ചു തരിക,’ എന്നു നിങ്ങൾ ഇന്ന് ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു. അതിനാൽ ഇപ്പോൾ നിങ്ങൾ ഗോത്രംഗോത്രമായും കുലംകുലമായും യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയിൽ അടുത്തുവരിക.”

But ye haue this day cast away your God, who onely deliuereth you out of all your aduersities and tribulations: and ye said vnto him, No, but appoint a King ouer vs. Nowe therefore stand ye before the Lord according to your tribes, and according to your thousands.

20 ശമുവേൽ ഇസ്രായേൽ ഗോത്രങ്ങളെയെല്ലാം യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയിൽ നിർത്തിക്കഴിഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ, ബെന്യാമീൻഗോത്രത്തിനു നറുക്കുവീണു.

And when Samuel had gathered together all the tribes of Israel, the tribe of Beniamin was taken.

21 പിന്നെ അദ്ദേഹം ബെന്യാമീൻഗോത്രത്തെ കുലംകുലമായി മുമ്പോട്ടു വരുത്തി; മത്രികുലം തെരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെട്ടു. അവസാനം കീശിന്റെ മകനായ ശൗൽ തെരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെട്ടു. എന്നാൽ അവർ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ അന്വേഷിച്ചപ്പോൾ അവിടെയെങ്ങും കാണാനില്ലായിരുന്നു.

Afterwarde he assembled the tribe of Beniamin according to their families, and the familie of Matri was taken. So Saul the sonne of Kish was taken, and when they sought him, he coulde not be found.

22 അതിനാൽ അവർ വീണ്ടും യഹോവയോട്: “ആ മനുഷ്യൻ ഇവിടെ വന്നിട്ടുണ്ടോ?” എന്ന് അരുളപ്പാടു ചോദിച്ചു. “അയാൾ സാധനസാമഗ്രികൾക്കിടയിൽ ഒളിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു,” എന്ന് യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

Therefore they asked the Lord againe, if that man should yet come thither. And the Lord answered, Beholde, he hath hid himselfe among the stuffe.

23 അവർ ഓടിച്ചെന്ന് അദ്ദേഹത്തെ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുവന്നു. ജനങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയിൽനിന്നപ്പോൾ ശൗൽ മറ്റെല്ലാവരെക്കാളും തോൾമുതൽ പൊക്കമേറിയവനായിരുന്നു.

And they ranne, and brought him thence: and when he stoode among the people, he was hier then any of the people from the shoulders vpwarde.

24 ശമുവേൽ സകലജനത്തോടും: “യഹോവ തെരഞ്ഞെടുത്ത മനുഷ്യനെ നിങ്ങൾ കാണുന്നുണ്ടോ? ഇസ്രായേലിലെങ്ങും അവനെപ്പോലെ മറ്റൊരാളുമില്ലല്ലോ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. “രാജാവ് നീണാൾ വാഴട്ടെ!” എന്നു ജനം ആർത്തുവിളിച്ചു.

And Samuel saide to all the people, See ye not him, whom the Lord hath chosen, that there is none like him among all the people? and all the people shouted and saide, God saue the King.

25 രാജത്വത്തിന്റെ അവകാശങ്ങളും ചുമതലകളും ശമുവേൽ ജനങ്ങൾക്കു വിശദീകരിച്ചുകൊടുത്തു. അദ്ദേഹം അവയെല്ലാം ഒരു ചുരുളിൽ എഴുതി യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയിൽ സൂക്ഷിച്ചു. അതിനുശേഷം ശമുവേൽ ജനത്തെ വീടുകളിലേക്കു തിരിച്ചയച്ചു.

Then Samuel tolde the people the duetie of the kingdome, and wrote it in a booke, and laied it vp before the Lord, and Samuel sent all the people away euery man to his house.

26 ശൗലും ഗിബെയയിലുള്ള തന്റെ ഭവനത്തിലേക്കു മടങ്ങി. ദൈവം ഹൃദയത്തിൽ പ്രേരണ നൽകിയ പരാക്രമശാലികളായ ചില പുരുഷന്മാരും അദ്ദേഹത്തോടൊപ്പം പോയി.

Saul also went home to Gibeah, and there followed him a bande of men, whose heart God had touched,

27 എന്നാൽ ആഭാസന്മാരായ ചിലർ, “ഈ മനുഷ്യനു നമ്മെ എങ്ങനെ രക്ഷിക്കാൻ കഴിയും?” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞ് ശൗലിനെ ധിക്കരിച്ചു; അദ്ദേഹത്തിനു കാഴ്ചകൾ കൊണ്ടുവന്നതുമില്ല. എന്നാൽ ശൗൽ അതു ഗണ്യമാക്കിയതേയില്ല.

But the wicked men saide, Howe shall hee saue vs? So they despised him, and brought him no presents: but he held his tongue.
