1 Inoñe arè ty tombo’ ty maha Jiosy; he ino ty mahasoa o savatseo?
What, then, [is] the superiority of the Jew? Or what the profit of the circumcision?
2 Toe jabajaba tok’aia’aia! Valoha’e, toe nafantoke am’iereo o fepèn’ Añahareo.
Much in every way; for first, indeed, that they were entrusted with the oracles of God;
3 Hera tsy nahafiato ty ila’e? Hahamodo ty figahiñan’ Añahare hao ty tsy fatokisa’e?
for what, if certain were faithless? Will their faithlessness make the faithfulness of God useless?
4 Sondo’e! Ee abey te ho tendreke to t’i Andrianañahare ndra te kila mpandañitse ondatio, amy pinatetse ty hoe: Soa t’ie ho zoen-to amo tsara’oo vaho handreketse te mizaka.
Let it not be! And let God become true, and every man false, according as it has been written: “That You may be declared righteous in Your words, and may overcome in Your being judged.”
5 Aa naho onjone’ ty hatsivokaran-tika ty hatòn’ Añahare, le akore ty hatao-tikañe? te tsy to hao t’i Andrianañahare t’ie mandafa? (manao reha’ ondaty rahoo).
And if our unrighteousness establishes God’s righteousness, what will we say? Is God unrighteous who is inflicting the wrath? (I speak after the manner of a man.)
6 Sondo’e ka! Naho nitò, akore ty hizakàn’ Añahare ty voatse toy?
Let it not be! Since how will God judge the world?
7 Aa naho ty vandeko ro mampionjoñe ty hatòn’ Añahare ho ami’ty enge’e, le inoñe ty amàrañe ahy ho mpanan-kakeo?
For if the truth of God in my falsehood abounded more to His glory, why am I also yet judged as a sinner?
8 Aa vaho akore t’ie tsy manao ty hoe: (Amy fanambaitambaiñañe anaiy, ie atao’ ty ila’e te enta’ay), Antao hanao raty hitotsaha’ ty soa? To ty famàrañe iareo.
And not, as we are spoken evil of, and as certain affirm us to say, “We may do the evil things, that the good ones may come?” Whose judgment is righteous.
9 Akore arè? Itika hao ro soa? Aiy! fa niventean-tika aniany te songa fehèn-kakeo ke te Jiosy he te Grika.
What, then? Are we better? Not at all! For we charged before both Jews and Greeks with being all under sin,
10 Fa pinatetse ty hoe: Tsy eo ty vañoñe, leo raike;
according as it has been written: “There is none righteous, not even one;
11 tsy eo ty mahilala, tsy eo ty mipay an’ Andrianañahare.
there is none who is understanding, there is none who is seeking after God.
12 Fonga nandifike, songa tsy manjofake; tsy ia ty manao soa, leo raike.
All went out of the way, together they became unprofitable, there is none doing good, there is not even one.
13 Kibory misokake ty tretra’ iareo; mitolom-pamañahy ty famele’ iareo; Ambane soñi’ iareo ao ty vore’ o mereñeo.
Their throat [is] an opened grave; with their tongues they used deceit; poison of cobras [is] under their lips—
14 Lifotse fatse naho afero o falie’ iareoo.
whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness.
15 Malisa te hampiori-dio ty fandia’ iareo;
Their feet [are] swift to shed blood.
16 fianto naho hasotriañe ro amo lala’ iareoo;
Ruin and misery [are] in their ways.
17 vaho alik’am’ iereo ty lalam-panintsiñañe.
And a way of peace they did not know.
18 Tsy aolom-pihaino’ iareo ty fañeveñañe aman’ Añahare.
There is no fear of God before their eyes.”
19 Fohintika te ze tsarae’ i Hake ro tsarae’e amy ze ambane’ Hake, hampihomboñe ze kila falie, vaho fonga hampivolilieñe aman’ Añahare ty voatse toy;
And we have known that as many things as the Law says, to those in the Law it speaks, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may come under judgment to God;
20 fa tsy ama’ nofotse veloñe ty hahazo to ampivazohoa’e ami’ty fimanemanea’e Hake; amy te fampandrendrehan-kakeo ty Hake.
for this reason by works of law will no flesh be declared righteous before Him, for through law is a knowledge of sin.
21 Ie henaneo, fa nadodea alafe’ i Hake ty havantañan’ Añahare, ie taroñe’ ty Hake naho o Mpitokio
And now apart from law the righteousness of God has been revealed, testified to by the Law and the Prophets,
22 naho boak’ aman’ Añahare añamy figahiña’ Iesoà Norizañey ty havantañañe, ho amo hene mitam-patokisañeo, le tsy iambakambàhañe;
and the righteousness of God [is] through the faith of Jesus Christ to all, and on all those believing—for there is no difference,
23 toe fonga nanao hakeo naho milesa ami’ty engen’ Añahare,
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God—
24 f’ie nampivantañeñe tsi-ambili’e amy fatariha’e añamy fijebañañe amy Iesoà Norizañeiy,
being declared righteous freely by His grace through the redemption that [is] in Christ Jesus,
25 i sinafirin’ Añahare ho takom-boiñe añamy fiatoañe an-dio’ey, hampiboake ty havantaña’e, fa am-pahaliñisa’e ty nirirañen’ Añahare o hakeo taoloo,
whom God set forth [as] a propitiatory covering, through faith in His blood, for the showing forth of His righteousness, because of the passing over of the former sins in the forbearance of God—
26 hampidodeà’e amo sa zao ty havantaña’e, t’ie i Vantañey naho ty figahiña’ Iesoà ro fañavantañañe ondaty.
for the showing forth of His righteousness in the present time, for His being righteous, and declaring him righteous who [is] of the faith of Jesus.
27 Aia arè ty firengeañe? Napoke añe. Ami’ty Hake manao akore? He am-pimanemaneañe? Aiy avao, fa amy Hake miato-patokisañey.
Where then [is] the boasting? It was excluded; by what law? Of works? No, but by a law of faith:
28 Aa le agadon-tika te vantañe’ i fatokisa’ey t’indaty fa tsy am-pimanemanea’e Hake.
therefore we reckon a man to be declared righteous by faith, apart from works of law.
29 Aa vaho Andrianañahare’ o Jiosio avao hao re? Tsy a’ o fokontokoñeo ka hao? Eka, toe a o fokontokoñeo ka.
[Is He] only the God of Jews, and not also of nations?
30 Inao, Raike t’i Andrianañahare, le fatokisañe ty añavantaña’e o sinavatseo naho fatokisañe ka o tsy sinavatseo.
Yes, also of nations; since [there is] one God who will declare righteous circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith.
31 Hera faohen-tika am-patokisañe t’i Hake. Aiy, sondo’e! te mone ajadon-tikañe t’i Hake.
Do we then make law useless through faith? Let it not be! Indeed, we establish law.
