And it comes to pass, after the plague, that YHWH speaks to Moses and to Eleazar son of Aaron the priest, saying,

“Take a census of all the congregation of the sons of Israel, from a son of twenty years and upward, by the house of their fathers, everyone going out to the host in Israel.”

And Moses speaks—Eleazar the priest also—with them in the plains of Moab by the Jordan, [near] Jericho, saying,

“From a son of twenty years and upward,” as YHWH has commanded Moses and the sons of Israel who are coming out from the land of Egypt.

Reuben, firstborn of Israel—sons of Reuben: of Enoch [is] the family of the Enochite; of Pallu the family of the Palluite;

6 avy tamin’ i Hezrona ny fokon’ ny Hezronita; avy tamin’ i Karmy ny fokon’ ny Karmita.

of Hezron the family of the Hezronite; of Carmi the family of the Carmite.

7 Ireo no fokon’ ny Robenita; ary izay voalamina taminy dia telo-polo amby fiton-jato sy telo arivo sy efatra alina.

These [are] families of the Reubenite, and their numbered ones are forty-three thousand and seven hundred and thirty.

And the son of Pallu [is] Eliab;

and the earth opens her mouth, and swallows them and Korah, in the death of the congregation, in the fire consuming the two hundred and fifty men, and they become a sign;

but the sons of Korah did not die.

of Zerah the family of the Zerahite; of Shaul the family of the Shaulite.

14 Ireo no fokon’ ny Simeonita, dia roanjato amby roa arivo sy roa alina.

These [are] families of the Simeonite—twenty-two thousand and two hundred.

Sons of Gad by their families: of Zephon [is] the family of the Zephonite; of Haggi the family of the Haggite; of Shuni the family of the Shunite;

16 avy tamin’ i Ozny ny fokon’ ny Oznita; avy tamin’ i Erỳ ny fokon’ ny Erita;

of Ozni the family of the Oznite; of Eri the family of the Erite:

17 avy tamin’ i Aroda ny fokon’ ny Arodita; avy tamin’ i Arely ny fokon’ ny Arelita.

of Arod the family of the Arodite; of Areli the family of the Arelite.

18 Ireo no fokon’ ny zanak’ i Gada, araka izay voalamina taminy, dia diman-jato amby efatra alina

These [are] families of the sons of Gad by their numbered ones—forty thousand and five hundred.

19 Ny zanak’ i Joda dia Era sy Onana; kanefa Era sy Onana dia maty tany amin’ ny tany Kanana ihany.

Sons of Judah [are] Er and Onan; and Er dies—Onan also—in the land of Canaan.

And sons of Judah by their families are: of Shelah the family of the Shelanite; of Perez the family of the Perezite; of Zerah the family of the Zerahite;

These [are] families of Judah by their numbered ones—seventy-six thousand and five hundred.

Sons of Issachar by their families: of Tola [is] the family of the Tolaite; of Pua the family of the Punite;

24 avy tamin’ i Jasoba ny fokon’ ny Jasobita; avy tamin’ i Simrona ny fokon’ ny Simronita,

of Jashub the family of the Jashubite; of Shimron the family of the Shimronite.

25 Ireo no fokon’ Isakara, araka izay voalamina taminy, dia telon-jato amby efatra arivo sy enina alina.

These [are] families of Issachar by their numbered ones—sixty-four thousand and three hundred.

26 Ny taranak’ i Zebolona, araka ny fokony, dia izao: avy tamin’ i Sereda ny fokon’ ny Seredita; avy tamin’ i Elona ny fokon’ ny Elonita; avy tamin’ i Jahalela ny fokon’ ny Jahalelita.

Sons of Zebulun by their families: of Sered [is] the family of the Sardite; of Elon the family of the Elonite; of Jahleel the family of the Jahleelite.

27 Ireo no fokon’ ny Zebolonita, araka izay voalamina taminy, dia diman-jato amby enina alina.

These [are] families of the Zebulunite by their numbered ones—sixty thousand and five hundred.

28 Ny zanak’ i Josefa, araka ny fokony, dia Manase sy Efraima.

Sons of Joseph by their families [are] Manasseh and Ephraim.

29 Ny taranak’ i Manase dia izao: avy tamin’ i Makira ny fokon’ ny Makirita; ary Makira niteraka an’ i Gileada; avy tamin’ i Gileada ny fokon’ ny Gileadita.

Sons of Manasseh: of Machir [is] the family of the Machirite; and Machir has begotten Gilead; of Gilead [is] the family of the Gileadite.

30 Izao no taranak’ i Gileada: avy tamin’ i Jezera ny fokon’ ny Jezerita; avy tamin’ i Heleka ny fokon’ ny Helekita;

These [are] sons of Gilead: of Jeezer [is] the family of the Jeezerite; of Helek the family of the Helekite;

31 ary avy tamin’ i Asriela ny fokon’ ny Asrielita; ary avy tamin’ i Sekema ny fokon’ ny Sekemita;

and of Asriel the family of the Asrielite; and of Shechem the family of the Shechemite;

and of Shemida the family of the Shemidaite; and of Hepher the family of the Hepherite.

33 Ary Zelofada, zanak’ i Hefera, tsy mba nanan-janakalahy, fa zanakavavy ihany; ary ny anaran’ ny zanakavavin’ i Zelofada dia Mahala sy Noa sy Hogla sy Milka ary Tirza.

And Zelophehad son of Hepher had no sons, but [only] daughters, and the names of the daughters of Zelophehad [are] Mahlah, and Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah.

34 Ireo no fokon’ i Manase; ary izay voalamina taminy dia fiton-jato amby roa arivo amby dimy alina.

These [are] families of Manasseh, and their numbered ones [are] fifty-two thousand and seven hundred.

35 Izao no taranak’ i Efraima, araka ny fokony: avy tamin’ i Sotela ny fokon’ ny Sotelita; avy tamin’ i Bekera ny fokon’ ny Bekerita; avy tamin’ i Tahana ny fokon’ ny Tahanita.

These [are] sons of Ephraim by their families: of Shuthelah [is] the family of the Shuthelhite; of Becher the family of the Bachrite; of Tahan the family of the Tahanite.

36 Ary izao no taranak’ i Sotela: avy tamin’ i Erana ny fokon’ ny Eranita.

And these [are] sons of Shuthelah: of Eran the family of the Eranite.

37 Ireo no fokon’ ny taranak’ i Efraima, araka izay voalamina taminy, dia diman-jato amby roa arivo sy telo alina. Ireo no taranak’ i Josefa araka ny fokony.

These [are] families of the sons of Ephraim by their numbered ones—thirty-two thousand and five hundred. These [are] sons of Joseph by their families.

38 Ny taranak’ i Benjamina, araka ny fokony, dia izao: avy tamin’ i Bela ny fokon’ ny Belita; avy tamin’ i Asibela ny fokon’ ny Asibelita; avy tamin’ i Ahirama ny fokon’ ny Ahiramita;

Sons of Benjamin by their families: of Bela [is] the family of the Belaite; of Ashbel the family of the Ashbelite; of Ahiram the family of the Ahiramite;

39 avy tamin’ i Sefofama ny fokon’ ny Sefofamita; avy tamin’ i Hofama ny fokon’ ny Hofamita.

of Shupham the family of the Shuphamite; of Hupham the family of the Huphamite.

40 Ary ny taranak’ i Bela dia Arda sy Namana; dia ny fokon’ ny Ardita; ary avy tamin’ i Namana ny fokon’ ny Namanita.

And sons of Bela are Ard and Naaman: [of Ard is] the family of the Ardite; of Naaman the family of the Naamite.

41 Ireo no taranak’ i Benjamina araka ny fokony; ary izay voalamina taminy dia enin-jato amby dimy arivo sy efatra alina.

These [are] sons of Benjamin by their families, and their numbered ones [are] forty-five thousand and six hundred.

42 Izao no taranak’ i Dana, araka ny fokony: avy tamin’ i Sohama ny fokon’ ny Sohamita. Ireo no fokon’ i Dana, araka ny fokony.

These [are] sons of Dan by their families: of Shuham [is] the family of the Shuhamite; these [are] families of Dan by their families;

43 Ny fokon’ ny Sohamita rehetra, araka izay voalamina taminy, dia efa-jato amby efatra arivo sy enina alina.

all the families of the Shuhamite by their numbered ones—sixty-four thousand and four hundred.

44 Ny taranak’ i Asera, araka ny fokony dia izao: avy tamin’ i Jimna ny fokon’ ny Jimnita; avy tamin’ i Jisvy ny fokon’ ny Jisvita; avy tamin’ i Bena ny fokon’ ny Berita;

Sons of Asher by their families: of Jimna [is] the family of the Jimnite; of Jesui the family of the Jesuite; of Beriah the family of the Beriite.

45 avy tamin’ ny zanak’ i Bena dia izao: avy tamin’ i Hebera ny fokon’ ny Heberita; avy tamin’ i Malkiela ny fokon’ ny Malkielita.

Of sons of Beriah: of Heber [is] the family of the Heberite; of Malchiel the family of the Malchielite.

46 Ary ny anaran’ ny zanakavavin’ i Asera dia Sera.

And the name of the daughter of Asher [is] Sarah.

47 Ireo no fokon’ ny taranak’ i Asera, araka izay voalamina taminy, dia efa-jato amby telo arivo sy dimy alina.

These [are] families of the sons of Asher by their numbered ones—fifty-three thousand and four hundred.

48 Ny taranak’ i Naftaly, araka ny fokony, dia izao: avy tamin’ i Jaziela ny fokon’ ny Jazielita; avy tamin’ i Gony ny fokon’ ny Gonita;

Sons of Naphtali by their families: of Jahzeel [is] the family of the Jahzeelite; of Guni the family of the Gunite;

49 avy tamin’ i Jezera ny fokon’ ny Jezerita; avy tamin’ i Silema ny fokon’ ny Silemita.

of Jezer the family of the Jezerite; of Shillem the family of the Shillemite.

50 Ireo no fokon’ i Naftaly araka ny fokony; ary izay voalamina taminy dia efa-jato amby dimy arivo sy efatra alina.

These [are] families of Naphtali by their families, and their numbered ones [are] forty-five thousand and four hundred.

51 Ireo no voalamina tamin’ ny Zanak’ Isiraely, dia telo-polo amby fiton-jato sy arivo sy enina hetsy.

These [are] numbered ones of the sons of Israel—six hundred thousand and one thousand seven hundred and thirty.

52 Ary Jehovah niteny tamin’ i Mosesy ka nanao hoe:

And YHWH speaks to Moses, saying,

53 Ireo no hizarana ny tany ho lovany, araka ny isany.

“The land is apportioned to these by inheritance, by the number of names;

54 Ny maro isa homenao zara-tany bebe kokoa, ary ny vitsy isa homenao kelikely kokoa; samy araka ny voalamina taminy no hanomezana ny zara-taniny.

to the many you increase their inheritance, and to the few you diminish their inheritance; each is given his inheritance according to his numbered ones.

55 Kanefa filokana no hizarana ny tany; araka ny anaran’ ny firenen’ ny razany no hahazoany zara-tany.

Surely the land is apportioned by lot; they inherit by the names of the tribes of their fathers;

56 Dia filokana no hizarana ny tany ho lovany, na ny ho an’ ny maro, na ny ho an’ ny vitsy.

their inheritance is apportioned according to the lot between many and few.”

57 Ary izao no voalamina tamin’ ny taranak’ i Levy, araka ny fokony: avy tamin’ i Gersona ny fokon’ ny Gersonita; avy tamin’ i Kehata ny fokon’ ny Kehatita; avy tamin’ i Merary ny fokon’ ny Merarita.

And these [are] numbered ones of the Levite by their families: of Gershon [is] the family of the Gershonite; of Kohath the family of the Kohathite; of Merari the family of the Merarite.

58 Izao no fokon’ i Levy: ny fokon’ ny Libnita, ny fokon’ ny Hebronita, ny fokon’ ny Mahalita, ny fokon’ ny Mosita, ny fokon’ ny Koralta. Ary Kehata niteraka an’ i Amrama.

These [are] families of the Levite: the family of the Libnite, the family of the Hebronite, the family of the Mahlite, the family of the Mushite, the family of the Korathite. And Kohath has begotten Amram,

59 Ary ny anaran’ ny vadin’ i Amrama dia Jokebeda, zanakavavin’ i Levy, izay naterany tany Egypta; dia niteraka an’ i Arona sy Mosesy ary Miriama anabaviny tamin’ i Amrama izy.

and the name of Amram’s wife is Jochebed, daughter of Levi, whom has been born to Levi in Egypt; and she bears to Amram Aaron, and Moses, and their sister Miriam.

60 Ary ny naterak’ i Arona dia Nadaba sy Abiho sy Eleazara ary Itamara.

And born to Aaron [are] Nadab, and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar;

61 Fa maty Nadaba sy Abiho tamin’ izy nanatitra afo tsy izy teo anatrehan’ i Jehovah.

and Nadab dies—Abihu also—in their bringing strange fire near before YHWH.

62 Ary izay voalamina taminy dia telo arivo amby roa alina, dia ny lahy rehetra hatramin’ ny iray volana no ho miakatra; fa tsy niaraka nalamina tamin’ ny Zanak’ Isiraely izy, satria tsy mba nomena zara-tany teo amin’ ny Zanak’ Isiraely.

And their numbered ones are twenty-three thousand, every male from a son of a month and upwards, for they have not numbered themselves in the midst of the sons of Israel, because an inheritance has not been given to them in the midst of the sons of Israel.

63 Ireo no voalamin’ i Mosesy sy Eleazara mpisorona, izay nandamina ny Zanak’ Isiraely teo Arbota-moaba, teo amoron’ i Jordana tandrifin’ i Jeriko.

These [are] those numbered by Moses and Eleazar the priest, who have numbered the sons of Israel in the plains of Moab by the Jordan, [near] Jericho;

and among these there has not been a man of those numbered by Moses and Aaron the priest, who numbered the sons of Israel in the wilderness of Sinai,

65 Fa Jehovah efa nilaza azy hoe: Ho faty any an-efitra tokoa ireo. Koa dia tsy nisy olona sisa tamin’ ireny afa-tsy Kaleba, zanak’ i Jefone, sy Josoa, zanak’ i Nona, ihany.

for YHWH said of them, “They certainly die in the wilderness”; and there has not been left a man of them, except Caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of Nun.
