< Abaruumi 9 >

1 Njogera amazima mu Kristo, sirimba, omwoyo gwange nga gunkakasa mu Mwoyo Mutukuvu,
I am speaking the truth in Christ. My conscience confirms through the Holy Spirit that I am not lying when I say
2 nga ndimunakuwavu nnyo era nga nnumwa mu mutima.
that I have great sorrow and unceasing pain in my heart.
3 Nnali njagala nze mwene nkolimirwe Katonda era njawukanyizibwe ku Kristo olwa baganda bange, bwe tuli ab’omu mubiri,
For I could wish that I myself were accursed, cut off from Christ for the sake of my brothers, my kinsmen according to the flesh.
4 be Bayisirayiri, abantu ba Katonda abalonde. Katonda yabalaga ekitiibwa kye, n’akola nabo endagaano, n’abawa n’amateeka ge. Yeekaalu yagibawa, n’abawa n’ebyasuubizibwa.
They are Israelites, and to them belong the adoption as sons, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the temple service, and the promises.
5 Balina bajjajjaabwe abamanyiddwa, Kristo be yasibukamu mu mubiri. Nsaba Katonda afuga byonna atenderezebwenga emirembe gyonna, Amiina. (aiōn g165)
To them belong the patriarchs, and from them, according to the flesh, came the Christ, who is God over all, blessed forever. Amen. (aiōn g165)
6 Naye si kuba nti Katonda yalemwa okutuukiriza kye yasuubiza. Si bonna ab’omu Isirayiri nti bantu ba Katonda ddala.
It is not as though the word of God has failed. For not all Israelites truly belong to Israel,
7 Ate so si nti ly’ezzadde lya Ibulayimu bonna balyoke babeere abaana, naye ekisuubizo kyali ku Isaaka bwe kyagambibwa nti, “Mu Isaaka mwe ndituukiririza ebyo byonna bye nakusuubiza.”
and not all of Abraham's children are his true descendants, but, “Through Isaac yoʋr descendants will be counted.”
8 Kino kitegeeza nti abaana ab’omubiri si be baana ba Katonda, wabula abo ab’okusuubiza be babalibwa okuba ezzadde lya Ibulayimu.
That is, it is not the children of the flesh who are the children of God; rather, the children of the promise are counted as descendants.
9 Kubanga ekigambo ky’okusuubiza kye kino nti, “Mu kiseera nga kino Saala alizaala omwana owoobulenzi.”
For this is what God promised: “About this time next year I will come, and Sarah will have a son.”
10 Ate si ekyo kyokka, naye ne Isaaka jjajjaffe yalina Lebbeeka eyali olubuto.
Not only that, but when Rebecca had conceived by one man, our father Isaac,
11 Naye ng’abalongo tebannazaalibwa, era nga tebannabaako kye bakola kyonna ekirungi oba ekibi, okusiima kwa Katonda nga bwe kuli,
though her sons were not yet born and had done nothing good or evil, in order for the purpose of God's choice to stand (not because of works but because of him who calls),
12 si lwa bikolwa wabula ku bw’oyo eyabayita, kyategeezebwa Lebbeeka nti, “Omukulu y’aliba omuweereza w’omuto.”
she was told, “The older will serve the younger.”
13 Era nga bwe kyawandiikibwa nti, “Yakobo namwagala, naye Esawu namukyawa.”
As it is written, “Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.”
14 Kale tunaagamba ki? Ddala ddala Katonda talina bwenkanya? Kikafuuwe.
What then shall we say? Is there injustice with God? Certainly not!
15 Agamba Musa nti, “Ndisaasira oyo gwe ndisaasira, era ndikwatirwa ekisa oyo gwe ndikwatirwa ekisa.”
For he says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.”
16 Noolwekyo tekiva ku ebyo omuntu by’ayagala newaakubadde by’akola, wabula ku kusaasira kwa Katonda.
So then, it does not depend on human will or effort, but on God's mercy.
17 Ebyawandiikibwa kyebyava byogera ku Falaawo nti, “Kyennava nkuyimusa, ndyoke njolese amaanyi gange mu ggwe, erinnya lyange liryoke litegeezebwe mu nsi zonna.”
For the Scripture says to Pharaoh, “I have raised yoʋ up for the very purpose of showing my power in yoʋ, so that my name might be declared in all the earth.”
18 Noolwekyo Katonda asaasira oyo gw’ayagala okusaasira, ate n’akakanyaza omutima gw’oyo gw’ayagala okukakanyaza.
So then, God has mercy on whom he wants to have mercy, and he hardens whom he wants to harden.
19 Omu akyayinza okumbuuza nti, Lwaki Katonda atunenya, obanga y’atuleetera okukola nga bw’asiima?
Yoʋ will say to me then, “Why does he still find fault? For who can resist his will?”
20 Naye ggwe omuntu obuntu, ggwe ani addamu ng’owakanya Katonda? Ekibumbe kiyinza okubuuza eyakibumba nti, “Lwaki wammumba bw’oti?”
On the contrary, O man, who are yoʋ to answer back to God? Shall the thing formed say to him who formed it, “Why did yoʋ make me like this?”
21 Oba omubumbi talina buyinza ku bbumba, okubumbamu ekibya eky’omugaso, oba okubumbamu ekitali kya mugaso?
Does the potter not have a right over the clay, to make out of the same lump one vessel for honorable use and another for dishonorable use?
22 Katonda yayagala okulaga obusungu bwe, n’amaanyi ge eri abo bonna abaali basaanira okuzikirizibwa, kyokka n’abalaga obugumiikiriza.
What if God, although willing to show his wrath and to make his power known, endured with much patience vessels of wrath fitted for destruction,
23 Ekyo yakikola alyoke amanyise obugagga bw’ekitiibwa kye, eri abo bonna be yeerondera okugabanira awamu ekitiibwa kye.
in order to make known the riches of his glory upon vessels of mercy that he has prepared in advance for glory,
24 Naffe yatuyita, si Bayudaaya bokka naye n’Abaamawanga.
namely us whom he has called, not from the Jews only but also from the Gentiles?
25 Ne mu Koseya agamba nti, “Abataali bantu bange ndibayita abantu bange, Ne gwe nnali ssaagala, ndimwagala.”
As he says in Hosea, “Those who were ‘not my people’ I will call ‘my people,’ and those who were ‘not beloved’ I will call ‘beloved.’
26 Mu kifo omwo mwe baayitirwa nti, “Temuli bantu bange, mwe baliyitirwa abaana ba Katonda omulamu.”
And in the place where it was said to them, ‘You are not my people,’ there they will be called ‘sons of the living God.’”
27 Isaaya ayogera eri Isirayiri mu ddoboozi ery’omwanguka nti, “Omuwendo gw’abaana ba Isirayiri ne bwe gulyenkana ng’omusenyu gw’ennyanja, ekitundu ekirisigalawo kye kirirokolebwa.
And Isaiah cries out concerning Israel, “Though the number of the sons of Israel be as the sand of the sea, only the remnant will be saved.
28 Kubanga Mukama alisalawo era alituukiriza mangu ekyo kye yagamba okukola ku nsi.”
For the Lord will settle the matter swiftly and justly; his sentence will be executed upon the earth without delay.”
29 Era nga Isaaya bwe yayogera edda nti, “Singa Mukama ow’Eggye teyatulekerawo zzadde, twandifuuse nga Sodomu, era twandifaananye nga Ggomola.”
And just as Isaiah foretold, “If the Lord of hosts had not left us any descendants, we would have been like Sodom and become like Gomorrah.”
30 Kale tunaagamba ki? Tugambe nti Abaamawanga abataagobereranga butuukirivu, baafuna obutuukirivu, bwe butuukirivu obuva mu kukkiriza,
What then shall we say? That Gentiles who were not pursuing righteousness have obtained righteousness, that is, the righteousness that is by faith.
31 naye Isirayiri mu kugobereranga amateeka ag’obutuukirivu, teyafuna butuukirivu obwo?
But Israel, although they pursued a law of righteousness, did not attain a law of righteousness.
32 Lwaki? Ekyo baalema okukituukako kubanga tebaagoberera butuukirivu mu kukkiriza wabula mu bikolwa. Beesittala ku jjinja eryo eryesittalwako,
Why? Because they did not pursue it by faith, but as though it were by works of the law. They stumbled over the stone of stumbling,
33 nga bwe kyawandiikibwa nti, “Laba, nteeka mu Sayuuni ejjinja eryesittalwako n’olwazi olulibasuula. Oyo amukkiriza taliswazibwa.”
as it is written, “Behold, I am placing in Zion a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense, yet no one who believes in him will be put to shame.”
