Of David. A psalm. The earth is the Lord’s and all that it holds, the world and those who live in it.
2 Kubanga yasimba emisingi gyayo mu nnyanja, n’agizimba ku mazzi amangi.
For he founded it on the seas, and on the floods he sustains it.
3 Alyambuka ku lusozi lwa Mukama ye afaanana atya? Era wa ngeri ki aliyingira n’ayimirira mu nnyumba ye entukuvu?
Who may ascend the hill of the Lord? Who may stand in his holy place?
4 Oyo alina omutima omulongoofu, nga n’emikono gye mirongoofu; atasinza bakatonda abalala, era atalayirira bwereere.
The clean of hands, the pure of heart, who sets not their heart upon sinful things, nor swears with intent to deceive:
5 Oyo Mukama anaamuwanga omukisa, n’obutuukirivu okuva eri Katonda ow’obulokozi bwe.
they win from the Lord a blessing: God is their champion and saviour.
6 Ogwo gwe mulembe gw’abo abakunoonya, Ayi Katonda wa Yakobo.
Such must be those who resort to him, and seek the face of the God of Jacob. (Selah)
7 Mweggulewo, mmwe bawankaaki! Muggulwewo, mmwe enzigi ez’edda, Kabaka ow’ekitiibwa ayingire.
Lift high your heads, you gates – Higher, you ancient doors; welcome the glorious king.
8 Kabaka ow’ekitiibwa ye ani? Ye Mukama ow’amaanyi era ow’obuyinza, omuwanguzi mu ntalo.
‘Who is the glorious king?’ ‘The Lord strong and heroic, the Lord heroic in battle.’
9 Mweggulewo, mmwe bawankaaki, muggulwewo mmwe enzigi ez’edda! Kabaka ow’ekitiibwa ayingire.
Lift high your heads, you gates – Higher, you ancient doors; welcome the glorious king.
10 Kabaka ow’ekitiibwa oyo ye ani? Mukama Ayinzabyonna; oyo ye Kabaka ow’ekitiibwa.
‘Who is the glorious king?’ ‘The Lord, the God of hosts, he is the glorious king.’ (Selah)
