1 Omuntu akakanyaza omutima gwe oluvannyuma lw’okunenyezebwa emirundi emingi, alizikirira ng’atamanyiridde awatali kuwona.
He who, being often reproved, hardens his neck shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.
2 Abatuukirivu bwe bakulaakulana, abantu basanyuka, naye abakakanyalira mu kukola ebikyamu bwe bafuga abantu babeera mu kusinda.
When the righteous are increased, the people rejoice, but when a wicked man bears rule, the people sigh.
3 Ayagala amagezi asanyusa kitaawe, naye munne w’abamalaaya ayiwaayiwa obugagga bwe.
He who loves wisdom delights his father, but he who keeps company with harlots wastes his substance.
4 Kabaka afuga n’obwenkanya, abantu be baba mu butebenkevu, naye oyo alulunkanira enguzi, ensi agyonoona.
By justice the king establishes the land, but he who exacts gifts overthrows it.
5 Omuntu awaanawaana munne, aba yeetega yekka ekitimba.
A man who flatters his neighbor spreads a net for his steps.
6 Ebibi by’omwonoonyi bye bimutega, naye omutuukirivu abeera mu kuyimba na kusanyuka.
In the transgression of an evil man there is a snare, but a righteous man sings and rejoices.
7 Omutuukirivu afaayo ku nsonga z’abaavu, naye abakozi b’ebibi tebakola bwe batyo.
A righteous man takes knowledge of the cause of the poor. A wicked man has no such understanding to know.
8 Abakudaazi basasamaza ekibuga, naye abantu abalina amagezi baziyiza entalo.
Scoffers set a city in a flame, but wise men turn away wrath.
9 Omuntu ow’amagezi bw’awoza n’omusirusiru, omusirusiru ayongera kusunguwala, n’okujerega ne wataba mirembe.
If a wise man has a controversy with a foolish man, whether he be angry or laugh, there will be no rest.
10 Abeegomba okuyiwa omusaayi bakyawa omuntu ow’amazima, era banoonya okusaanyaawo obulamu bwe.
Bloodthirsty men hate him who is perfect, but the upright seek his soul.
11 Omusirusiru alaga obusungu bwe bwonna, naye omuntu ow’amagezi abuziyiza n’abukkakkanya.
A fool utters all his anger, but a wise man keeps it back and calms it.
12 Omufuzi bw’awuliriza eby’obulimba, abakungu be bonna bafuuka babi.
If a ruler hearkens to falsehood, all his servants are wicked.
13 Omwavu n’oyo amubonyaabonya balina ekibagatta: Mukama bombi ye yabawa amaaso.
The poor man and the oppressor meet together. Jehovah enlightens the eyes of them both.
14 Kabaka bw’asalira abaavu emisango n’obwesigwa, obufuzi bwe bubeerera emirembe gyonna.
The king who faithfully judges the poor, his throne shall be established forever.
15 Akaggo akakangavvula, kaleeta amagezi, naye omwana alekeddwa awo, aswaza nnyina.
The rod and reproof give wisdom, but a child left to himself causes shame to his mother.
16 Abakozi b’ebibi bwe beeyongera obungi, okumenya amateeka kweyongera, naye abatuukirivu baliraba okugwa kwabwe.
When the wicked are increased, transgression increases, but the righteous shall look upon their fall.
17 Kangavvula omwana wo, alikuwa emirembe, alireetera emmeeme yo essanyu.
Correct thy son, and he will give thee rest, yea, he will give delight to thy soul.
18 Awatali kwolesebwa abantu tebaba beegendereza, naye wa mukisa oyo akuuma amateeka ga Mukama.
Where there is no vision, the people cast off restraint, but he who keeps the law, happy is he.
19 Omuweereza tayinza kubuulirirwa na bigambo byokka; ne bw’aba ategedde tafaayo.
A servant will not be corrected by words, for though he understands, he will not give heed.
20 Olaba omuntu ayanguyiriza ebigambo bye? Omusirusiru alina essuubi okumusinga.
See thou a man who is hasty in his words? There is more hope for a fool than for him.
21 Atiitiibya omuweereza we ekiyitiridde ng’akyali mwana muto, oluvannyuma omuweereza aleetera mukama we obuyinike.
He who brings up his servant gently from childhood shall have him become a son at the last.
22 Omuntu ow’obusungu aleeta ennyombo, n’omuntu asunguwala amangu ayonoona nnyo.
An angry man stirs up strife, and a wrathful man abounds in transgression.
23 Amalala g’omuntu galimuleetera okugwa, naye omuntu ow’omwoyo ogwetoowaza alifuna ekitiibwa.
A man's pride shall bring him low, but he who is of a lowly spirit shall obtain honor.
24 Buli assa ekimu n’omubbi akyawa obulamu bwe ye, era ne bw’alayizibwa tasaanira kubaako ky’ayogera.
He who is partner with a thief hates his own soul; he hears the adjuration and utters nothing.
25 Okutya omuntu kuleeta ekyambika, naye buli eyeesiga Mukama anaabanga mirembe.
The fear of man brings a snare, but he who puts his trust in Jehovah shall be safe.
26 Bangi abanoonya okuganja mu maaso g’omufuzi, naye obwenkanya obwa nnama ddala buva eri Mukama.
Many seek the ruler's favor, but a man's justice is from Jehovah.
27 Atali mutuukirivu wa muzizo eri abatuukirivu; era omwesimbu wa muzizo eri abakozi b’ebibi.
An unjust man is an abomination to the righteous, and he who is upright in the way is an abomination to a wicked man.
