< Psalmorum 77 >

“For the leader of the music of the Jeduthunites. A psalm of Asaph.” I call upon God; I cry aloud for help; I call upon God, that he would hear me!
2 in die tribulationis meae Deum exquisivi manibus meis nocte contra eum et non sum deceptus rennuit consolari anima mea
In the day of my trouble I seek the Lord; In the night is my hand stretched forth continually; My soul refuseth to be comforted.
3 memor fui Dei et delectatus sum exercitatus sum et defecit spiritus meus diapsalma
I remember God, and am disquieted; I think of him, and my spirit is overwhelmed.
Thou keepest mine eyelids from closing; I am distressed, so that I cannot speak!
5 cogitavi dies antiquos et annos aeternos in mente habui
I think of the days of old, —The years of ancient times.
I call to remembrance my songs in the night; I meditate in my heart, And my spirit inquireth:
7 numquid in aeternum proiciet Deus et non adponet ut conplacitior sit adhuc
Will the Lord be angry for ever? Will he be favorable no more?
8 aut in finem misericordiam suam abscidet a generatione in generationem
Is his mercy utterly withdrawn for ever? Doth his promise fail from generation to generation?
9 aut obliviscetur misereri Deus aut continebit in ira sua misericordias suas diapsalma
Hath God forgotten to be gracious? Hath he in anger shut up his compassion?
10 et dixi nunc coepi haec mutatio dexterae Excelsi
Then I say, “This is mine affliction, A change in the right hand of the Most High.”
11 memor fui operum Domini quia memor ero ab initio mirabilium tuorum
I remember the deeds of Jehovah; I think of thy wonders of old.
12 et meditabor in omnibus operibus tuis et in adinventionibus tuis exercebor
I meditate on all thy works, And talk of thy doings.
13 Deus in sancto via tua quis deus magnus sicut Deus noster
Thy ways, O God! are holy! Who so great a god as our God?
14 tu es Deus qui facis mirabilia notam fecisti in populis virtutem tuam
Thou art a God who doest wonders; Thou hast manifested thy power among the nations.
15 redemisti in brachio tuo populum tuum filios Iacob et Ioseph diapsalma
With thy strong arm thou didst redeem thy people, —The sons of Jacob and Joseph.
The waters saw thee, O God! The waters saw thee, and feared, And the deep trembled.
17 multitudo sonitus aquarum vocem dederunt nubes etenim sagittae tuae transeunt
The clouds poured out water, The skies sent forth thunder, And thine arrows flew.
18 vox tonitrui tui in rota inluxerunt coruscationes tuae orbi terrae commota est et contremuit terra
Thy thunder roared in the whirlwind; Thy lightning illumined the world; The earth trembled and shook.
Thy way was through the sea, And thy path through great waters; And thy footsteps could not be found.
20 deduxisti sicut oves populum tuum in manu Mosi et Aaron
Thou didst lead thy people like a flock, By the hands of Moses and Aaron.
