< Marcum 12 >
1 et coepit illis in parabolis loqui vineam pastinavit homo et circumdedit sepem et fodit lacum et aedificavit turrem et locavit eam agricolis et peregre profectus est
And He began to speak unto them in parables. A certain man planted a vineyard, and made a fence about it, and digged a place for the wine-fat, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and travelled abroad.
2 et misit ad agricolas in tempore servum ut ab agricolis acciperet de fructu vineae
And at the season he sent a servant to the husbandmen, that he might receive from them of the fruit of the vineyard:
3 qui adprehensum eum ceciderunt et dimiserunt vacuum
and they took him and beat him, and sent him away empty.
4 et iterum misit ad illos alium servum et illum capite vulneraverunt et contumeliis adfecerunt
And again he sent unto them another servant; and at him they threw stones, and wounded him on the head, and sent him away shamefully used.
5 et rursum alium misit et illum occiderunt et plures alios quosdam caedentes alios vero occidentes
And again, he sent another; and him they killed: and many others, beating some, and killing others.
6 adhuc ergo unum habens filium carissimum et illum misit ad eos novissimum dicens quia reverebuntur filium meum
Having yet therefore one Son, his beloved, he sent him also at last unto them, saying, they will reverence my Son.
7 coloni autem dixerunt ad invicem hic est heres venite occidamus eum et nostra erit hereditas
But the husbandmen said to one another, this is the heir, Come, let us kill him, and the inheritance will be ours.
8 et adprehendentes eum occiderunt et eiecerunt extra vineam
And they took him, and killed Him too, casting him out of the vineyard.
9 quid ergo faciet dominus vineae veniet et perdet colonos et dabit vineam aliis
What therefore will the lord of the vineyard do? He will come and destroy those husbandmen, and will let the vineyard to others.
10 nec scripturam hanc legistis lapidem quem reprobaverunt aedificantes hic factus est in caput anguli
And have ye not read this scripture, "The stone, which the builders refused, is become the head of the corner:
11 a Domino factum est istud et est mirabile in oculis nostris
this was from the Lord, and it is marvellous in our eyes."
12 et quaerebant eum tenere et timuerunt turbam cognoverunt enim quoniam ad eos parabolam hanc dixerit et relicto eo abierunt
And they sought to lay hands on Him, but they were afraid of the people; (for they knew that He spake the parable against them) and they left Him, and went away.
13 et mittunt ad eum quosdam ex Pharisaeis et Herodianis ut eum caperent in verbo
And they send to Him some of the pharisees, and of the Herodians to insnare Him in his discourse:
14 qui venientes dicunt ei magister scimus quoniam verax es et non curas quemquam nec enim vides in faciem hominis sed in veritate viam Dei doces licet dari tributum Caesari an non dabimus
and these, when they came, said to Him, Master, we know that thou art a man of truth, and carest for no man; for thou regardest not the person of men, but teachest the way of God in truth: Is it lawful to pay tribute to Cesar, or not? should we give, or should we not give?
15 qui sciens versutiam eorum ait illis quid me temptatis adferte mihi denarium ut videam
But He knew their hypocrisy, and said to them, Why do ye tempt me? bring me a penny, that I may see it.
16 at illi adtulerunt et ait illis cuius est imago haec et inscriptio dicunt illi Caesaris
So they brought one: and He saith to them, Whose is this image and inscription? And they said Cesar's.
17 respondens autem Iesus dixit illis reddite igitur quae sunt Caesaris Caesari et quae sunt Dei Deo et mirabantur super eo
And Jesus answered and said unto them, Render then unto Cesar the things that are Cesar's, and to God the things that are God's. And they marvelled at Him.
18 et venerunt ad eum Sadducaei qui dicunt resurrectionem non esse et interrogabant eum dicentes
Then come the sadducees to Him, who say there is no resurrection;
19 magister Moses nobis scripsit ut si cuius frater mortuus fuerit et dimiserit uxorem et filios non reliquerit accipiat frater eius uxorem ipsius et resuscitet semen fratri suo
and they asked Him, saying, Master, Moses, in his writings tells us, if any one's brother die, and leave a wife, and leave no children, that his brother shall take his wife, and raise up seed to his brother.
20 septem ergo fratres erant et primus accepit uxorem et mortuus est non relicto semine
Now there were seven brethren: and the first took a wife and died and left no seed;
21 et secundus accepit eam et mortuus est et nec iste reliquit semen et tertius similiter
and the second took her, and died, and he left no seed neither; and the third likewise.
22 et acceperunt eam similiter septem et non reliquerunt semen novissima omnium defuncta est et mulier
And all the seven had her, and left no seed: last of all died the woman also.
23 in resurrectione ergo cum resurrexerint cuius de his erit uxor septem enim habuerunt eam uxorem
In the resurrection therefore, when they rise again, whose wife shall be of them; for all the seven had her to wife?
24 et respondens Iesus ait illis non ideo erratis non scientes scripturas neque virtutem Dei
And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, nor the power of God?
25 cum enim a mortuis resurrexerint neque nubent neque nubentur sed sunt sicut angeli in caelis
For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels in heaven.
26 de mortuis autem quod resurgant non legistis in libro Mosi super rubum quomodo dixerit illi Deus inquiens ego sum Deus Abraham et Deus Isaac et Deus Iacob
But as to the dead, that they are raised, have ye not read in the book of Moses, how God spake to him in the bush, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?
27 non est Deus mortuorum sed vivorum vos ergo multum erratis
He is not the God of the dead, but of the living: therefore ye do greatly mistake.
28 et accessit unus de scribis qui audierat illos conquirentes et videns quoniam bene illis responderit interrogavit eum quod esset primum omnium mandatum
And one of the scribes, who heard them disputing, seeing that He answered them well, came to Him and asked Him, Which is the chief commandment of all?
29 Iesus autem respondit ei quia primum omnium mandatum est audi Israhel Dominus Deus noster Deus unus est
And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, "Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God is the one Lord,
30 et diliges Dominum Deum tuum ex toto corde tuo et ex tota anima tua et ex tota mente tua et ex tota virtute tua hoc est primum mandatum
and thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength:" this is the first or chief commandment,
31 secundum autem simile illi diliges proximum tuum tamquam te ipsum maius horum aliud mandatum non est
and the second is like it, even this, "Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself:" there is no other commandment greater than these.
32 et ait illi scriba bene magister in veritate dixisti quia unus est et non est alius praeter eum
And the scribe said unto Him, Truly, Master, thou hast spoke exceeding well; for there is one God, and there is no other beside Him.
33 et ut diligatur ex toto corde et ex toto intellectu et ex tota anima et ex tota fortitudine et diligere proximum tamquam se ipsum maius est omnibus holocaustomatibus et sacrificiis
And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbour as himself, is more than all whole-burnt-offerings and sacrifices.
34 Iesus autem videns quod sapienter respondisset dixit illi non es longe a regno Dei et nemo iam audebat eum interrogare
And Jesus seeing that he answered discreetly, said to him, Thou art not far from the kingdom of God. And no one dared any more to put questions to Him.
35 et respondens Iesus dicebat docens in templo quomodo dicunt scribae Christum Filium esse David
And Jesus spake and said, as He was teaching in the temple, How do the scribes say, that the Christ is the son of David?
36 ipse enim David dicit in Spiritu Sancto dixit Dominus Domino meo sede a dextris meis donec ponam inimicos tuos scabillum pedum tuorum
for David himself said by the holy Spirit, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand till I make thine enemies thy footstool.
37 ipse ergo David dicit eum Dominum et unde est filius eius et multa turba eum libenter audivit
So that David himself calleth Him Lord: how then is He his son? And many of the people heard Him with pleasure.
38 et dicebat eis in doctrina sua cavete a scribis qui volunt in stolis ambulare et salutari in foro
And He said unto them as He was teaching them, Beware of the scribes, who love to walk in long robes, and salutations in public-places,
39 et in primis cathedris sedere in synagogis et primos discubitus in cenis
and the chief seats in the synagogues, and uppermost places at feasts;
40 qui devorant domos viduarum sub obtentu prolixae orationis hii accipient prolixius iudicium
who devour widows houses, and for a shew of religion make long prayers: these shall receive the heavier judgement.
41 et sedens Iesus contra gazofilacium aspiciebat quomodo turba iactaret aes in gazofilacium et multi divites iactabant multa
And as Jesus was sitting over against the treasury, He saw how the people threw money into the treasury, and many of the rich put in much;
42 cum venisset autem una vidua pauper misit duo minuta quod est quadrans
and there came a poor widow and put in two mites, that is, a farthing.
43 et convocans discipulos suos ait illis amen dico vobis quoniam vidua haec pauper plus omnibus misit qui miserunt in gazofilacium
And He called his disciples to Him, and saith unto them, Verily I tell you, that this poor widow has given more than all those who have cast into the treasury.
44 omnes enim ex eo quod abundabat illis miserunt haec vero de penuria sua omnia quae habuit misit totum victum suum
For they all have contributed out of their abundance: but she out of her penury hath given all that she had, even her whole living.
