Matthew 23
1 Tok kutu, Jesus el kaskas nu sin un mwet uh wi mwet tumal lutlut,
THEN Jesus spake to the multitudes and to his disciples,
2 ac fahk, “Mwet luti Ma Sap ac mwet Pharisee pa fal in aketeya Ma Sap lal Moses uh.
saying, The scribes and Pharisees are seated on the chair of Moses;
3 Ke ma inge kowos enenu in akos ac oru ma nukewa ma elos fahk kowos in oru uh; tusruktu, nimet kowos etai orekma lalos, mweyen elos tia oru oana ma elos fahk.
all things therefore which they prescribe for you to observe, observe and practise; but do not according to their works, for they say, yet do not practise.
4 Elos kapreni mwe utuk toasr ac upa ac filiya finpisen mwet uh, ac elos tia sang sokofanna kufinpaolos in kasrelos us ma toasr inge.
For they bind burdens grievous, and difficultly borne, and lay them on men’s shoulders; but they will not move them with a finger of their own.
5 Ma nukewa elos oru, elos oru mwet uh in liye. Ngetang liye ke elos arulana akyokye box in nein verse in Ma Simusla ma elos kapriya ke motonsrolos ac paolos! Liye pac ke arulana loes mwe yun ke pulun nuknuk lalos uh!
And all their works they do to be seen of men: they make their phylacteries broad, and deepen the fringes of their garments,
6 Elos lungse muta ke acn wowo ke pacl in kufwa, ac ke acn ma sriyukla nu sin mwet fulat in iwen lolngok uh.
and love the principal couch at suppers, and the chief seats in the synagogues,
7 Elos lungse mwet uh in paingulos ac srim nu selos ke nien tukeni lun mwet uh, ac lungse mwet in pangnolos ‘Mwet Luti.’
and salutations in the places of public concourse, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi.
8 Tia enenu in pangpang kowos ‘Mwet Luti,’ mweyen kowos nukewa mwet lili ac lulu lun sie sin sie, ac oasr Mwet Luti sefanna lowos nukewa.
But be not ye called Rabbi, for one is your leader, the Messiah; and ye all are brethren.
9 Ac kowos in tia pangon kutena mwet fin faclu ‘Papa,’ mweyen Papa sefanna tomowos su inkusrao.
And call no man your father upon earth; for one is your father, who is in heaven.
10 Kowos in tia pac lela mwet uh in pangon kowos ‘Mwet Kol,’ mweyen mwet kol sefanna lowos uh pa Messiah.
And be not called leaders; for one is your leader, the Messiah.
11 Eneneyuk tuh el su fulat emeet inmasrlowos elan mwet kulansap lowos.
But he who is greatest among you shall be your servant.
12 El su sifacna akfulatyal ac fah akpusiselyeyuk, ac el su sifacna akpusiselyal el ac fah akfulatyeyuk.
For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and whosoever abaseth himself shall be exalted.
13 “We nu suwos, mwet luti Ma Sap ac mwet Pharisee! Kowos mwet wosounkas! Kowos kaliya nien utyak nu in Tokosrai lun kusrao nu sin mwet uh, a kowos sifacna tia utyak nu we ku fuhlela mwet su lungse utyak in utyak! [
Wo unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye shut up the kingdom of heaven from men; for ye yourselves enter not in, and those who were coming in, ye suffer not to enter.
14 We nu suwos, kowos mwet luti Ma Sap ac mwet Pharisee. Kowos mwet wosounkas! Kowos kiapu katinmas ac pusrala lohm selos, tari kowos filangkin pre loeloes lowos! Ke kowos oru ouinge ac fah arulana yohk kaiyuk nu suwos!]
Wo unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows’ houses, and for a pretence make long prayers: wherefore ye shall receive greater condemnation.
15 “We nu suwos, mwet luti Ma Sap ac mwet Pharisee! Kowos mwet wosounkas! Kowos kalkal in meoa uh ac tupalla facl lulap in furokla moul lun sie mwet nu ke alu lun mwet Jew; ac tukun el forla kowos oru tuh elan ilyak nu in Hell ac koluk yohk liki kowos pacl luo. (Geenna g1067)
Wo unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte; and when he is gained, ye make him doubly more the child of hell than yourselves. (Geenna g1067)
16 “We nu suwos, kowos mwet kol kun! Kowos luti mwet uh ac fahk, ‘Kutena mwet su fulahk ke Tempul, el tia enenu in akfalye fulahk lal; a el fin fulahk ke gold ma oan in Tempul, na el enenu na in akfalye.’
Wo unto you ye blind guides! who say, Whosoever shall swear by the temple, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gold of the temple, it is binding.
17 Kowos mwet sulonginten ac lalfon! Ma ya kac yohk uh: gold uh, ku Tempul su oru gold uh in mutal?
Ye fools and blind! for which is the greater, the gold, or the temple which consecrates the gold?
18 Kowos oayapa luti ac fahk mu, ‘Kutena mwet su fulahk ke loang in kisa uh, el ac tia enenu in akfalye fulahk lal uh; a el fin fulahk ke mwe kisa ma oan fin loang uh, na el enenu na in akfalye.’
And again, Whosoever shall swear by the altar, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gift that is upon it, it is binding.
19 Kowos arulana kun! Pia ma se ma yohk sripa uh: mwe kisa uh, ku loang se su oru tuh mwe kisa uh in mutal?
Ye fools and blind! which is the greater, the gift, or the altar which consecrates the gift?
20 Ke ma inge, mwet se fin fulahk ke loang uh, el fulahk ke loang uh ac ma nukewa ma oan fac,
Whosoever therefore sweareth by the altar, sweareth by it, and by all things that are upon it.
21 ac el fin fulahk ke Tempul, el fulahk kac ac oayapa ke God su muta we.
And whosoever sweareth by the temple, sweareth by it, and by him also who dwelleth in it.
22 Ac mwet se fin fulahk ke acn inkusrao, el orek fulahk ke tron lun God ac ke El su muta fac.
So he that sweareth by heaven, sweareth by the throne of God, and by him who is seated upon it.
23 “We nu suwos, mwet luti Ma Sap ac mwet Pharisee! Kowos mwet wosounkas! Kowos sang nu sin God sie tafu singoul, finne ke mahsrik mwe akyuye mongo, oana mint, dill, ac cumin; a kowos tiana akos ma yohk sripa ke Ma Sap inge uh: moulkin nununku suwohs, pakoten, ac inse pwaye. Fal kowos in oru ma inge, ac tia pilesru ma saya uh.
Wo unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithes of mint, and anise, and cummin, and have neglected the weightier precepts of the law, judgment, and mercy, and fidelity: these thing ought ye to have done, and not to leave the others undone.
24 Kowos mwet kol kun! Kowos srengak ke won srisrik ngalngul ma putati nu ke ma nimowos uh, a kowos okomla camel na fon soko!
Ye blind guides! who strain out a gnat, but gulp down a camel.
25 “We nu suwos, mwet luti Ma Sap ac mwet Pharisee! Kowos mwet wosounkas! Kowos aknasnasye likin cup lowos ac ahlu lowos uh, a acn luac uh sessesla ke ma kowos eis ke inkanek in funmwet ac sulallal.
Wo unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye cleanse the outside of the cup, and of the dish, but within they are full of rapacity and intemperance.
26 Kom sie mwet Pharisee kun! Aknasnasyela luin cup uh meet, na acn lik uh ac fah nasnasla pac!
Thou blind Pharisee! cleanse first the inside of the cup and dish, that their outside may become clean also.
27 “We nu suwos, mwet luti Ma Sap ac mwet Pharisee! Kowos mwet wosounkas! Kowos oana kulyuk ma sroalla fasrfasr luku uh, a acn loac uh sessesla ke srin mwet misa ac ke ma kulawi.
Wo unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye resemble tombs whitewashed, which outwardly indeed appear specious, but within are full of dead men’s bones, and all manner of impurity.
28 In lumah sac pacna, wona lumowos lik, a insiowos sesseslana ke wosounkas ac ke ma koluk.
And just so, ye without indeed appear to men righteous, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.
29 “We nu suwos, mwet luti Ma Sap ac mwet Pharisee! Kowos mwet wosounkas! Kowos oru kulyuk na wowo nu sin mwet palu, ac nawela eot ke kulyuk lun mwet ma wo moul la,
Wo unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye build the tombs of the prophets, and adorn the sepulchres of the just,
30 a kowos fahk mu kowos funu oasr in pacl lun mwet matu lowos, kowos lukun tia oru ma elos tuh oru, ke elos uniya mwet palu ah.
and say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.
31 Ke fahk lowos inge, kowos sifacna akkalemye lah kowos ma nutin mwet akmas su tuh uniya mwet palu ah!
Wherefore ye bear a testimony to yourselves, that ye are the children of those who killed the prophets.
32 Fin ouinge, kowos tafwelana orekma su mwet matu lowos ah tuh mutawauk ah!
Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers.
33 Kowos wet sulallal ac wen nutin wet pwasin! Kowos ac kaingla fuka in tia anwuki kowos in hell? (Geenna g1067)
Ye serpents, ye broods of vipers! how can ye escape from the damnation of hell? (Geenna g1067)
34 Ke ma inge nga fahkot nu suwos lah nga ac supwaot nu yuruwos mwet palu, mwet lalmwetmet, ac mwet luti. Kowos ac fah uniya kutu, srupusrak kutu fin sakseng, ac sringil kutu in iwen lolngok ac ukwalos liki sie siti nu ke sie pac siti.
Therefore, behold, I am sending to you prophets, and wise men, and scribes; and some of them ye shall kill, and crucify; and some of them ye shall scourge in your synagogues, and persecute from city to city:
35 Ac ke ma inge, kaiyuk nu ke akmas ma orek nu sin mwet wangin mwata nukewa ac fah putati fowos, mutawauk oe ke akmas nu sel Abel, su wangin mwatal, nwe ke anwuki lal Zechariah wen natul Berechiah, su kowos akmuseya inmasrlon Tempul ac loang in kisa uh.
that upon you may come all the righteous blood which hath been poured out upon the earth, from the blood of the righteous Abel, to the blood of Zachariah, son of Barachiah, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar.
36 Pwayena nga fahk nu suwos, kaiyuk nu ke akmas inge nukewa ac fah putati nu fin mwet in fwil se inge!
Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come on this generation.
37 “Jerusalem, Jerusalem! Kom uniya mwet palu, ac tungal nu ke misa elos su God El supwalosme in fahkak kas lal nu sum! Pacl ekasr nga tuh kena sruokkomi inpouk oana ke sie won el kafisani torokrok natul ye paol, a kom tia lela!
O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, that killest the prophets, and stonest those who were sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children to me, as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not?
38 Ke ma inge, Tempul lom uh ac fah pisinmala mweyen mwet uh ac fahsrelik liki.
Behold, your habitation is left unto you desolate.
39 Nga fahkot nu suwos, ingela kowos fah tia sifil liyeyu nwe ke na kowos fahk, ‘God Elan akinsewowoyal su tuku Inen Leum.’”
For I tell you, Ye shall henceforth no more see me, until ye say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.
