And Ben-Hadad king of Aram has gathered all his force, and thirty-two kings [are] with him, and horse and chariot, and he goes up and lays siege against Samaria, and fights with it,
2 Tokosra Benhadad el supwala mwet utuk kas lal nu in siti uh nu yorol Tokosra Ahab lun Israel, in fahk, “Tokosra Benhadad el fahk ke sap ku lal
and sends messengers to Ahab king of Israel, to the city,
3 mu kom in fuhleang silver ac gold lom nu sel, wi mutan kiom ac tulik nukewa nutum ma ku in mano.”
and says to him, “Thus said Ben-Hadad: Your silver and your gold are mine, and your wives and your sons—the best—are mine.”
4 Ac Ahab el topuk ac fahk, “Folokot ac fahk nu sel Tokosra Benhadad, leum luk, lah nga ac oru oana ma el fahk. El ku in eisyu ac ma nukewa luk.”
And the king of Israel answers and says, “According to your word, my lord, O king: I [am] yours, and all that I have.”
5 Tok kutu, mwet utuk kas uh sifilpa foloko nu yorol Ahab ac us pac soko sap sel Benhadad su fahk ouinge: “Nga sapot tari nu sum kom in supwama silver, gold, mutan ac tulik.
And the messengers turn back and say, “Thus spoke Ben-Hadad, saying, Surely I sent to you, saying, Your silver, and your gold, and your wives, and your sons, you give to me;
6 A inge, nga ac supwaot mwet kol fulat lun mwet mweun luk in iluhsya kewa koanon inkul sum, oayapa lohm sin mwet kol fulat lom, ac eis ma nukewa ma elos pangon mu ma saok. Elos ac sun acn ingan pacl se pacna inge lutu.”
for if, at this time tomorrow, I send my servants to you, then they have searched your house, and the houses of your servants, and it has been [that] every desirable thing of your eyes they place in their hand, and have taken [them] away.”
7 Tokosra Ahab el pangoneni mwet kol nukewa lun facl sac ac fahk, “Kowos liye ke mwet se inge sukna in kunauskutla uh? El supwama kas nu sik ac sap ngan supwala mutan kiuk, tulik nutik, silver ac gold, ac nga tuh wi na sap lal.”
And the king of Israel calls to all [the] elderly of the land and says, “Please know and see that this [one] is seeking evil, for he sent to me for my wives, and for my sons, and for my silver, and for my gold, and I did not withhold from him.”
8 Na mwet kol ac mwet uh topuk, “Nimet lohng ma el fahk ingan. Nimet kom munasla.”
And all the elderly and all the people say to him, “Do not listen, nor consent.”
9 Ouinge Ahab el fahk nu sin mwet utuk kas lal Benhadad, “Fahkang nu sel tokosra, leum luk, lah nga ac oru sap soko lal meet ah, tusruktu sap soko tok an nga tia ku in lela.” Mwet utuk kas inge som twe sifilpa foloko ke soko pac sap
And he says to the messengers of Ben-Hadad, “Say to my lord the king, All that you sent to your servant for at the first I do, and this thing I am not able to do”; and the messengers go and take him back word.
10 sel Benhadad, fahk mu, “Nga ac fahsrot ac us pisen mwet ma ac ku in kunausla siti sum an, ac usla nufon ipin eot mokutkuti inpaolos. Lela god uh in uniyuwi ngan misa, nga fin tia orala!”
And Ben-Hadad sends to him and says, “Thus the gods do to me, and thus do they add, if the dust of Samaria suffice for handfuls for all the people who [are] at my feet.”

And the king of Israel answers and says, “Speak: Do not let him who is girding on boast himself as him who is loosing [his armor].”
12 Benhadad el eis top lal Ahab ke pacl se ma el, ac tokosra saya ma welul ah, nimnim in lohm nuknuk selos. El sapkin nu sin mwet mweun lal in akola in mweuni siti sac, na elos fahsryang nu yen elos ac mweun we.
And it comes to pass at the hearing of this word—and he is drinking, he and the kings, in the shelters—that he says to his servants, “Set yourselves”; and they set themselves against the city.
13 In pacl sac, mwet palu se som nu yorol Tokosra Ahab ac fahk, “LEUM GOD El fahk, ‘Nikmet sangeng sin un mwet mweun lulap se ingan. Nga ac sot kom in kutangulosla misenge, na kom fah etu lah nga pa LEUM GOD.’”
And behold, a certain prophet has come near to Ahab king of Israel and says, “Thus said YHWH: Have you seen all this great multitude? Behold, I am giving it into your hand today, and you have known that I [am] YHWH.”
14 Ahab el siyuk, “Su ac us mweun uh?” Ac mwet palu sac fahk, “LEUM GOD El fahk mu mwet mweun fusr su kolyuk sin kais sie governor in acn Israel pa ac us mweun uh.” Na tokosra el siyuk, “Ac su ac sapsap nu sin mwet nukewa?” Mwet palu sac fahk, “Kom.”
And Ahab says, “By whom?” And he says, “Thus said YHWH: By the young men of the heads of the provinces”; and he says, “Who directs the battle?” And he says, “You.”

And he inspects the young men of the heads of the provinces, and they are two hundred and thirty-two, and after them he has mustered all the people, all the sons of Israel—seven thousand,
16 Mweun sac mutawauk ke infulwen len, ke Benhadad ac tokosra tolngoul luo su welul elos sruhila in lohm nuknuk selos.
and they go out at noon, and Ben-Hadad is drinking—drunk in the shelters, he and the kings, the thirty-two kings helping him.
17 Mwet mweun fusr Israel elos fahsr meet. Benhadad el tuh supwala mwet kalngeyuk lal in liye acn meeto, ac elos foloko ac fahk nu sel lah un mwet mweun se pa tuku Samaria me.
And the young men of the heads of the provinces go out at the first, and Ben-Hadad sends, and they declare to him, saying, “Men have come out of Samaria.”
18 Benhadad el sapkin, “Elos finne tuku in mweun ku in suk misla, sruokolosi a nimet onelosla.”
And he says, “If they have come out for peace, catch them alive; and if they have come out for battle, catch them alive.”
19 Mwet mweun fusr uh pa us mutun mweun uh, ac un mwet mweun lun Israel fahsr tokolos.
And these have gone out of the city—the young men of the heads of the provinces—and the force that [is] after them,
20 Kais sie sin mwet mweun lun Israel inge uniya mwet se ma el anwuk nu se. Mwet Syria elos kaing, ac mwet Israel ukwalos na. A Benhadad el kaingla fin horse natul, wi pac kutu mwet mweun lal su kasrusr fin horse.
and each strikes his man, and Aram flees, and Israel pursues them, and Ben-Hadad king of Aram escapes on a horse—and the horsemen;
21 Tokosra Ahab el som nu yen mweun uh orek we, ac sruokya horse ac chariot, ac orala kutangla na lulap se fin mwet Syria.
and the king of Israel goes out, and strikes the horses, and the charioteers, and has struck among the Arameans a great striking.
22 Na mwet palu sac som nu yorol Tokosra Ahab ac fahk, “Folokla ac musaeak un mwet mweun lom an, akola akwoye, mweyen tokosra lun Syria el ac sifil foloko mweuni kom meet liki infulwen yac fahsru.”
And the prophet comes near to the king of Israel and says to him, “Go, strengthen yourself, and know and see that which you do, for at the turn of the year the king of Aram is coming up against you.”
23 Mwet kol fulat lal Tokosra Benhadad elos fahk nu sel, “God lun mwet Israel ingan elos god fineol, pa pwanang mwet Israel elos kutangkutla. Tuh kut lulalfongi na yohk lah kut ac kutangulosla kut fin mweunelos yen tupasrpasr.
And the servants of the king of Aram said to him, “Their gods [are] gods of hills, therefore they were stronger than us; and yet, we fight with them in the plain—are we not stronger than they?
24 Inge kom eisla tokosra tolngoul luo liki kunokon lalos, ac sang mwet kol ma pisrla ke mweun yen tupasrpasr in aolulos.
And this thing you do: turn aside each of the kings out of his place, and set captains in their stead;
25 Na kom pangoneni mwet mweun lom an in pus oana pisen mwet ma tuh kaingkinkomla, ac sokak horse ac chariot in oana pisen ma wanginla. Kut ac mweuni mwet Israel yen tupasrpasr, ac kut ac fah kutangulosla ke fwil se inge.” Tokosra Benhadad el insese ke kas in kasru lalos inge, ac el oru oana.
and you, number for yourself a force as the force that is fallen from you, and horse for horse, and chariot for chariot, and we fight with them in the plain; are we not stronger than they?” And he listens to their voice, and does so.

And it comes to pass at the turn of the year, that Ben-Hadad inspects the Arameans, and goes up to Aphek, to battle with Israel,
27 Mwet Israel uh pangonyukeni ac akola kufwen mwe mweun natulos, ac som nu nien aktuktuk lalos, ac orekelik nu ke u luo, ac tu forang nu sin mwet Syria. Mwet Israel inge elos oana u srisrik luo ke nani fin lumweyuk elos nu ke pisen mwet Syria, su fahsrelik ac nwakla in polo acn sac nufon.
and the sons of Israel have been inspected, and supported, and go to meet them, and the sons of Israel encamp before them, like two flocks of goats, and the Arameans have filled the land.
28 Sie mwet palu som nu yorol Tokosra Ahab ac fahk, “Pa inge ma LEUM GOD El fahk: ‘Mweyen mwet Syria elos fahk mu nga sie god fineol uh ac tia god nu yen tupasrpasr, nga ac sot kom in kutangla un mwet mweun lulap se inge, na kom ac mwet lom nukewa fah etu lah nga pa LEUM GOD.’”
And a man of God comes near, and speaks to the king of Israel and says, “Thus said YHWH: Because that the Arameans have said, YHWH [is] God of [the] hills, but He [is] not God of [the] valleys—I have given the whole of this great multitude into your hand, and you have known that I [am] YHWH.”
29 Mwet Syria ac mwet Israel elos mutana in acn elos aktuktuk we ac ngetani nu sie ke len itkosr. Ke len se akitkosr elos mutawauk in mweun, ac mwet Israel elos uniya siofok tausin mwet mweun lun Syria.
And they encamp opposite one another [for] seven days, and it comes to pass on the seventh day, that the battle draws near, and the sons of Israel strike one hundred thousand footmen of Aram in one day.
30 Mwet Syria ma lula elos kaingla nu in siti Aphek, twe pot we ah topla ac toanya pac longoul itkosr tausin selos. Benhadad el kaingla pac nu in siti uh ac wikla in sie fukil oan etok ke sie lohm.
And those left flee to Aphek, into the city, and the wall falls on twenty-seven chief men who are left, and Ben-Hadad has fled, and comes into the city, into the innermost part.
31 Mwet pwapa fulat lal ah som nu yorol ac fahk, “Kut lohng mu tokosra lun mwet Israel elos mwet na kulang. Filikutla kut in losya infulwasr ke nuknuk yohk eoa ac pwelah insifasr ke sucl, ac som nu yorol tokosra lun Israel. Na sahp el ac nunak munas nu sum ac tia unikomi.”
And his servants say to him, “Now behold, we have heard that the kings of the house of Israel—that they are kind kings; please let us put sackcloth on our loins and ropes on our heads, and we go out to the king of Israel; it may be he keeps you alive.”
32 Ouinge elos losya infulwalos ke nuknuk yohk eoa, ac pwelah inkwawalos ke sucl, ac som nu yorol Ahab ac fahk, “Benhadad, mwet kulansap lom, el kwafe nu sum tuh kom in lela elan moul.” Ac Ahab el fahk, “Ku el srakna moul? Wona! El oana tamulel se nu sik!”
And they gird sackcloth on their loins, and ropes [are] on their heads, and they come to the king of Israel, and say, “Your servant Ben-Hadad has said, Please let me live”; and he says, “Is he still alive? He [is] my brother.”
33 Mwet pwapa fulat lal Benhadad elos tupan lah oasr akul wo elos ac liye, ac ke Ahab el fahk “tamulel” na elos sulaklak na fahk, “Pwaye sum, Benhadad el tamulel lom!” Na Ahab el sap, “Usalu nu yuruk.” Ke Benhadad el sun acn we, Ahab el solal elan fanyak welul fin chariot natul uh.
And the men observe diligently, and hurry, and catch [the word] from him, and say, “Your brother Ben-Hadad”; and he says, “Go in, bring him”; and Ben-Hadad comes out to him, and he causes him to come up on the chariot.
34 Benhadad el fahk nu sel, “Nga ac folokonot siti nukewa ma papa tumuk ah tuh eisla sin papa tomom ah, ac kom fah orala sie acn in kuka ah lom in acn Damascus, oana ke papa tumuk el tuh oru in acn Samaria.” Ahab el topuk, “Ke sripen ma kital aetuila kac inge, nga ac aksukosokyekomla.” Na el orala sie wulela ku inmasrloltal, ac aksukosokyalla.
And he says to him, “The cities that my father took from your father, I give back, and you make streets for yourself in Damascus, as my father did in Samaria; and I, with a covenant, send you away”; and he makes a covenant with him, and sends him away.
35 Ke sap lun LEUM GOD, sie mwet palu inmasrlon un mwet palu el sap sie pac selos in puokilya. Tusruktu el srangesr oru.
And a certain man of the sons of the prophets said to his neighbor by the word of YHWH, “Please strike me”; and the man refuses to strike him,
36 Na mwet se ma sapkin el fahk nu sel, “Mweyen kom tia akos ma LEUM GOD El sapkin, lion soko ac unikomi ke kom ac tufahna fahla likiyu.” Na ke el tufahna fahla lukel, lion soko fahsryak twe unilya.
and he says to him, “Because that you have not listened to the voice of YHWH, behold, you are going from me, and the lion has struck you”; and he goes from him, and the lion finds him, and strikes him.
37 Na mwet palu sac sifilpa som nu yurin sie pac mwet ac fahk, “Puokyuwi!” Na el oru oana el fahk — el liksrenina puokilya na el kineta.
And he finds another man and says, “Please strike me”; and the man strikes him, striking and wounding,
38 Mwet palu sac pwela mutal ke nuknuk se tuh in tia akilenyuk el, ac el som tu inkanek ah, soano tokosra Israel elan tuku.
and the prophet goes and stands for the king on the way, and disguises himself with ashes on his eyes.
39 Ke pacl se tokosra el tuku, na mwet palu sac wola ac fahk, “Leum fulat, ke nga tuh muta ke mweun ah, sie sin mwet mweun ah use sie mwet lokoalok ma el tuh sruokya, ac fahk nu sik, ‘Taranul el uh. El fin kaingla, mwata ac oan fom: fin tia anwuki kom, kom ac moli ke tolu tausin ipin silver.’
And it comes to pass—the king is passing by—that he has cried to the king and says, “Your servant went out into the midst of the battle, and behold, a man has turned aside and brings a man to me, and says, Keep this man; if he is at all missing, then your life has been for his life, or you weigh out a talent of silver;
40 Tusruk nga tuh kafofo ke kutepacna ma saya, na mwet sac kaingla.” Tokosra el fahk, “Kom sifacna pakiya mwe kalya nu sum uh, ac kom fah akkeokyeyuk fal nu kac.”
and it comes to pass, your servant is working here and there, and he is not!” And the king of Israel says to him, “Your judgment [is] right; you have determined [it].”
41 Mwet palu sac tulakunla ipin nuknuk sac liki mutal, na tokosra el akilenulak lah sie sin mwet palu ah pa el.
And he hurries and turns aside the ashes from off his eyes, and the king of Israel discerns him, that he [is] of the prophets,
42 Na mwet palu sac fahk nu sel tokosra, “Pa inge kas sin LEUM GOD: ‘Mweyen kom tuh lela mwet se nga sap in anwuki in kaingla, kom ac fah moli ke moul lom, ac un mwet mweun lom ac fah kunausyukla mweyen elos lela un mwet mweun lal in kaingla.’”
and he says to him, “Thus said YHWH: Because you have sent away the man I devoted, out of [your] hand, even your life has been for his life, and your people for his people”;
43 Tokosra el folokla nu in acn sel Samaria, ac el fosrnga ac inse toasr.
and the king of Israel goes to his house, sulky and angry, and comes to Samaria.
