ನ್ಯಾಯಸ್ಥಾಪಕರು 21
1 ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ತಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ, “ಯಾವನೂ ತನ್ನ ಮಗಳನ್ನು ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನ್ಯರಿಗೆ ಮದುವೆಮಾಡಿ ಕೊಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ,” ಎಂದು ಮಿಚ್ಪೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಆಣೆಯಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದರು.
Now the men of Israel had sworn in Mizpah, saying, “None of us will give his daughter to Benjamin as a wife.”
2 ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಜನರು ಬೇತೇಲಿಗೆ ಬಂದು, ಅಲ್ಲಿ ದೇವರ ಮುಂದೆ ಸಾಯಂಕಾಲದವರೆಗೆ ಇದ್ದು, ತಮ್ಮ ಧ್ವನಿ ಎತ್ತಿ ಬಹಳವಾಗಿ ಅತ್ತು,
The people came to Bethel and sat there until evening before God, and lifted up their voices, and wept severely.
3 “ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರೇ, ಈ ಹೊತ್ತು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಗೋತ್ರ ಕೊರತೆಯಾದದ್ದೇನು?” ಎಂದರು.
They said, “The LORD, the God of Israel, why has this happened in Israel, that there should be one tribe lacking in Israel today?”
4 ಜನರು ಮಾರನೆಯ ದಿವಸ ಉದಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಎದ್ದು, ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಬಲಿಪೀಠವನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟಿ, ದಹನಬಲಿಗಳನ್ನೂ ಸಮಾಧಾನದ ಸಮರ್ಪಣೆಗಳನ್ನೂ ಅರ್ಪಿಸಿದರು.
On the next day, the people rose early and built an altar there, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings.
5 ಅನಂತರ ಅವರು, “ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಸಮಸ್ತ ಗೋತ್ರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಬಾರದವರು ಯಾರು?” ಎಂದರು. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಮಿಚ್ಪೆಗೆ ಬಾರದವನು ಖಂಡಿತವಾಗಿ ಸಾಯಬೇಕೆಂದು ದೊಡ್ಡ ಆಣೆ ಇಟ್ಟುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದರು.
The children of Israel said, “Who is there amongst all the tribes of Israel who didn’t come up in the assembly to the LORD?” For they had made a great oath concerning him who didn’t come up to the LORD to Mizpah, saying, “He shall surely be put to death.”
6 ಆಗ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ತಮ್ಮ ಸಹೋದರರಾದ ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನನ ವಿಷಯವಾಗಿ ಪಶ್ಚಾತ್ತಾಪಪಟ್ಟು, “ಈ ಹೊತ್ತು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಗೋತ್ರವು ಕಡಿದು ಹೋಯಿತು.
The children of Israel grieved for Benjamin their brother, and said, “There is one tribe cut off from Israel today.
7 ನಾವು ನಮ್ಮ ಪುತ್ರಿಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬಳನ್ನಾದರೂ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಕೊಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ, ಎಂದು ನಾವು ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರ ಮೇಲೆ ಆಣೆ ಇಟ್ಟುಕೊಂಡದ್ದರಿಂದ ಉಳಿದವರಿಗೆ ಹೆಂಡರು ದೊರಕುವಂತೆ ನಾವು ಅವರಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಏನು ಮಾಡೋಣ?
How shall we provide wives for those who remain, since we have sworn by the LORD that we will not give them of our daughters to wives?”
8 ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಗೋತ್ರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮಿಚ್ಪೆಗೆ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಾರದವರು ಯಾರಾದರೂ ಒಬ್ಬರಿದ್ದಾರೋ?” ಎಂದರು. ಆಗ, ಯಾಬೇಷ್ ಗಿಲ್ಯಾದಿನವರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬನಾದರೂ ಸಭೆಯ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಪಾಳೆಯಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ.
They said, “What one is there of the tribes of Israel who didn’t come up to the LORD to Mizpah?” Behold, no one came from Jabesh Gilead to the camp to the assembly.
9 ಜನರು ಲೆಕ್ಕಿಸಿದಾಗ, ಯಾಬೇಷ್ ಗಿಲ್ಯಾದಿನವರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬನಾದರೂ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ.
For when the people were counted, behold, there were none of the inhabitants of Jabesh Gilead there.
10 ಆಗ ಸಭೆಯು ಪರಾಕ್ರಮಶಾಲಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಹನ್ನೆರಡು ಸಾವಿರ ಮನುಷ್ಯರನ್ನು ಅಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸುವಾಗ, ಅವರಿಗೆ, “ನೀವು ಹೋಗಿ, ಯಾಬೇಷ್ ಗಿಲ್ಯಾದಿನ ನಿವಾಸಿಗಳನ್ನೂ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯರನ್ನೂ ಚಿಕ್ಕವರನ್ನೂ ಕೂಡ, ಖಡ್ಗದಿಂದ ಸಂಹರಿಸಿಬಿಡಿರಿ.
The congregation sent twelve thousand of the most valiant men there, and commanded them, saying, “Go and strike the inhabitants of Jabesh Gilead with the edge of the sword, with the women and the little ones.
11 ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಗಂಡಸರನ್ನೂ ಮದುವೆಯಾದ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯರನ್ನೂ ನಿರ್ಮೂಲ ಮಾಡಿರಿ,” ಎಂದು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದರು.
This is the thing that you shall do: you shall utterly destroy every male, and every woman who has lain with a man.”
12 ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಯಾಬೇಷ್ ಗಿಲ್ಯಾದಿನ ನಿವಾಸಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನಾನೂರು ಮಂದಿ ಪ್ರಾಯದ ಕನ್ನಿಕೆಯರನ್ನು ಕಂಡರು. ಅವರು ಯಾವುದೇ ಪುರುಷರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸಂಬಂಧ ಹೊಂದಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಅವರನ್ನು ಕಾನಾನ್ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಶೀಲೋವಿನಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಪಾಳೆಯಕ್ಕೆ ತಂದರು.
They found amongst the inhabitants of Jabesh Gilead four hundred young virgins who had not known man by lying with him; and they brought them to the camp to Shiloh, which is in the land of Canaan.
13 ಆಗ ಸಭೆಯವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ರಿಮ್ಮೋನ್ ಗುಡ್ಡದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನ್ಯರ ಸಂಗಡ ಮಾತನಾಡಿ, ಅವರಿಗೆ ಸಮಾಧಾನವನ್ನು ಸಾರಲು ಕೆಲವರನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದರು.
The whole congregation sent and spoke to the children of Benjamin who were in the rock of Rimmon, and proclaimed peace to them.
14 ಆ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನ್ಯರು ತಿರುಗಿ ಅವರ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದರು. ಅವರು ಯಾಬೇಷ್ ಗಿಲ್ಯಾದಿನ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಜೀವದಿಂದ ಉಳಿಸಿದ ಕನ್ನಿಕೆಯರನ್ನು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯರಾಗಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟರು. ಆದರೂ ಅವರಿಗೆ ತಕ್ಕಷ್ಟು ಹೆಂಡತಿಯರು ಸಿಕ್ಕಲಿಲ್ಲ.
Benjamin returned at that time; and they gave them the women whom they had saved alive of the women of Jabesh Gilead. There still weren’t enough for them.
15 ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ ಗೋತ್ರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನರನ್ನು ಬೇರ್ಪಡಿಸಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಜನರು ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನರಿಗಾಗಿ ಪಶ್ಚಾತ್ತಾಪ ಪಟ್ಟರು.
The people grieved for Benjamin, because the LORD had made a breach in the tribes of Israel.
16 ಸಮೂಹದ ಹಿರಿಯರು, “ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನನ ಗೋತ್ರದ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯರು ನಾಶವಾದದ್ದರಿಂದ ಉಳಿದ ಜನರಿಗೆ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯರು ದೊರಕುವುದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಏನು ಮಾಡೋಣ?
Then the elders of the congregation said, “How shall we provide wives for those who remain, since the women are destroyed out of Benjamin?”
17 ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಗೋತ್ರವು ಅಳಿದು ಹೋಗದ ಹಾಗೆ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಂಡ ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನ್ಯರಿಗೆ ಬಾಧ್ಯತೆ ಇರಬೇಕು.
They said, “There must be an inheritance for those who are escaped of Benjamin, that a tribe not be blotted out from Israel.
18 ‘ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನ್ಯರಿಗೆ ತಮ್ಮ ಹೆಣ್ಣು ಕೊಡುವ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರು ಶಾಪಗ್ರಸ್ತರಾಗಲಿ,’ ಎಂದು ಆಣೆ ಇಟ್ಟುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದರಿಂದ, ನಾವಾದರೋ ನಮ್ಮ ಪುತ್ರಿಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಹೆಣ್ಣು ಕೊಡಕೂಡದು,” ಎಂದರು.
However, we may not give them wives of our daughters, for the children of Israel had sworn, saying, ‘Cursed is he who gives a wife to Benjamin.’”
19 ಅವರು ಬೇತೇಲಿಗೆ ಉತ್ತರದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ, ಬೇತೇಲಿನಿಂದ ಶೆಕೆಮಿಗೆ ಹೋಗುವ ಹೆದ್ದಾರಿಯ ಮೂಡಲಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಲೆಬೋನಕ್ಕೆ ದಕ್ಷಿಣದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಶೀಲೋವಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರತಿವರ್ಷ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರ ಹಬ್ಬವುಂಟೆಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
They said, “Behold, there is a feast of the LORD from year to year in Shiloh, which is on the north of Bethel, on the east side of the highway that goes up from Bethel to Shechem, and on the south of Lebonah.”
20 ಅವರು ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನ್ಯರಿಗೆ, “ನೀವು ಹೋಗಿ ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಿತೋಟಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅಡಗಿಕೊಳ್ಳಿರಿ.
They commanded the children of Benjamin, saying, “Go and lie in wait in the vineyards,
21 ಶೀಲೋವಿನ ಪುತ್ರಿಯರು ನಾಟ್ಯವಾಡುತ್ತಾ ಹೊರಟು ಬರುವರು. ನೀವು ಅವರನ್ನು ಕಂಡಾಗ, ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಿ ತೋಟಗಳಿಂದ ಹೊರಟು, ಶೀಲೋವಿನ ಪುತ್ರಿಯರಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನವನು ತನಗೆ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯಾಗಿ ಒಬ್ಬೊಬ್ಬಳನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದುಕೊಂಡು, ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನನ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಿರಿ,” ಎಂದು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದರು.
and see, and behold, if the daughters of Shiloh come out to dance in the dances, then come out of the vineyards, and each man catch his wife of the daughters of Shiloh, and go to the land of Benjamin.
22 ಅವರ ತಂದೆಗಳಾದರೂ, ಅವರ ಸಹೋದರರಾದರೂ ನಮ್ಮ ಸಂಗಡ ವ್ಯಾಜ್ಯವಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದರೆ, ನಾವು ಅವರಿಗೆ, “ಯುದ್ಧದಲ್ಲಿ ನಾವು ಅವನವನಿಗೆ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯನ್ನು ದೊರಕಿಸಿದ ಕಾರಣ, ನಮಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಅವರ ಮೇಲೆ ದಯೆ ತೋರಿಸಿರಿ. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ನೀವು ಈ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟು ಅಪರಾಧಸ್ಥರಾಗಲಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂಬದಾಗಿ ಹೇಳುತ್ತೇವೆ,” ಎಂದರು.
It shall be, when their fathers or their brothers come to complain to us, that we will say to them, ‘Grant them graciously to us, because we didn’t take for each man his wife in battle, neither did you give them to them; otherwise you would now be guilty.’”
23 ಆಗ ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನ್ಯರು ಅದೇ ಪ್ರಕಾರಮಾಡಿ, ನಾಟ್ಯವಾಡುವ ಹೆಣ್ಣುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ತಮ್ಮ ಲೆಕ್ಕಕ್ಕೆ ಸರಿಯಾಗಿ ಹಿಡಿದುಕೊಂಡವರನ್ನು ಅವನವನು ತನಗೆ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯಾಗಿ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು, ತಮ್ಮ ಬಾಧ್ಯತೆಗೆ ತಿರುಗಿಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಿ, ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟಿ, ಅವುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸಿಸಿದರು.
The children of Benjamin did so, and took wives for themselves according to their number, of those who danced, whom they carried off. They went and returned to their inheritance, built the cities, and lived in them.
24 ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಆ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಆ ಸ್ಥಳವನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು, ತಮ್ಮ ತಮ್ಮ ಗೋತ್ರಕ್ಕೂ, ತಮ್ಮ ತಮ್ಮ ಕುಟುಂಬಕ್ಕೂ ಹೋದರು. ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಒಬ್ಬೊಬ್ಬನು ತನ್ನ ಬಾಧ್ಯತೆಗೆ ಹೊರಟುಹೋದನು.
The children of Israel departed from there at that time, every man to his tribe and to his family, and they each went out from there to his own inheritance.
25 ಆ ದಿವಸಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಅರಸನು ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಒಬ್ಬೊಬ್ಬನು ತನ್ನ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಗೆ ಸರಿಯಾಗಿ ತೋಚಿದ್ದನ್ನು ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದನು.
In those days there was no king in Israel. Everyone did that which was right in his own eyes.
