ನ್ಯಾಯಸ್ಥಾಪಕರು 14
1 ಸಂಸೋನನು ತಿಮ್ನಾತಿಗೆ ಇಳಿದು, ಅಲ್ಲಿ ತಿರುಗಿ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರ ಪುತ್ರಿಯರ ಒಬ್ಬ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯನ್ನು ಕಂಡು,
Samson went down to Timnah, and saw a woman in Timnah of the daughters of the Philistines.
2 ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆತಾಯಿಗಳ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದು ಅವರಿಗೆ, “ನಾನು ತಿಮ್ನಾತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರ ಪುತ್ರಿಯರೊಳಗೆ ಒಬ್ಬ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯನ್ನು ಕಂಡೆನು. ಈಗ ಅವಳನ್ನು ನನಗೆ ಮದುವೆ ಮಾಡಿರಿ,” ಎಂದನು.
He came up, and told his father and his mother, saying, “I have seen a woman in Timnah of the daughters of the Philistines. Now therefore get her for me as my wife.”
3 ಆಗ ಅವನ ತಂದೆಯೂ, ತಾಯಿಯೂ ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ನಿನಗೆ ಸುನ್ನತಿಯಾಗದ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರರ ಪುತ್ರಿಯರಲ್ಲಿಯೂ, ನಮ್ಮ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಜನರಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಸ್ತ್ರೀ ಇಲ್ಲವೋ?” ಎಂದರು. ಆದರೆ ಸಂಸೋನನು ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಗೆ, “ಅವಳನ್ನು ನನಗೆ ತೆಗೆದುಕೋ. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಅವಳು ನನ್ನ ಮನಸ್ಸಿಗೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿದ್ದಾಳೆ,” ಎಂದನು.
Then his father and his mother said to him, “Is not there a woman among your brothers’ daughters, or among all my people, that you go to take a wife of the uncircumcised Philistines?” Samson said to his father, “Get her for me, for she pleases me well.”
4 ಇದು ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರಿಂದ ಉಂಟಾಯಿತೆಂದು ಅವನ ತಂದೆತಾಯಂದಿರು ಅರಿಯದೆ ಇದ್ದರು. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಅವನು ಕಾರಣವನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕಿದನು. ಆ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರನ್ನು ಆಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.
But his father and his mother did not know that it was of the LORD; for he sought an occasion against the Philistines. Now at that time the Philistines ruled over Israel.
5 ಆಗ ಸಂಸೋನನೂ, ಅವನ ತಂದೆತಾಯಿಗಳೂ ತಿಮ್ನಾತಿಗೆ ಹೋಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಅವರು ತಿಮ್ನತಿನ ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಿತೋಟಗಳ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದಾಗ, ಪ್ರಾಯದ ಸಿಂಹವು ಗರ್ಜಿಸುತ್ತಾ ಅವನ ಎದುರಿಗೆ ಬಂದಿತು.
Then Samson went down to Timnah with his father and his mother, and came to the vineyards of Timnah; and behold, a young lion roared at him.
6 ಅವನು ತನ್ನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಏನೂ ಇಲ್ಲದಿದ್ದರೂ, ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರ ಆತ್ಮ ಅವನ ಮೇಲೆ ಬಂದದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅದನ್ನು ಒಂದು ಮೇಕೆಯ ಮರಿಯ ಹಾಗೆ ಸೀಳಿ ಬಿಟ್ಟನು. ಆದರೆ ಅವನು ತಾನು ಮಾಡಿದ್ದನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆತಾಯಿಗಳಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲ.
The LORD’s Spirit came mightily on him, and he tore him as he would have torn a young goat with his bare hands, but he did not tell his father or his mother what he had done.
7 ಅವನು ಹೋಗಿ ಆ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯ ಸಂಗಡ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದನು. ಅವಳು ಸಂಸೋನನ ಕಣ್ಣಿಗೆ ಒಪ್ಪುವವಳಾಗಿದ್ದಳು.
He went down and talked with the woman, and she pleased Samson well.
8 ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಸಮಯವಾದ ಮೇಲೆ ಅವನು ಅವಳನ್ನು ಮದುವೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ತಿರುಗಿ ಬರುವಾಗ, ಸಿಂಹದ ಹೆಣವನ್ನು ನೋಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಪಕ್ಕಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋದಾಗ, ಸಿಂಹದ ಹೆಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಜೇನುಹುಳಗಳನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು ಜೇನನ್ನು ಕಂಡನು.
After a while he returned to take her, and he went over to see the carcass of the lion; and behold, there was a swarm of bees in the body of the lion, and honey.
9 ಅದನ್ನು ಅವನು ತನ್ನ ಕೈಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ತಿನ್ನುತ್ತಾ, ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆತಾಯಿಗಳ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಅವರಿಗೂ ಕೊಟ್ಟನು; ಅವರೂ ತಿಂದರು. ಆದರೆ ಸಿಂಹದ ಹೆಣದಿಂದ ತಾನು ಜೇನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡೆನೆಂದು ಅವರಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲ.
He took it into his hands, and went on, eating as he went. He came to his father and mother and gave to them, and they ate, but he did not tell them that he had taken the honey out of the lion’s body.
10 ಅವನ ತಂದೆಯು ಆ ಸ್ತ್ರೀ ಇರುವ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದಾಗ, ಸಂಸೋನನು ಪ್ರಾಯಸ್ಥರು ಮಾಡುವ ಪದ್ಧತಿಯ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಔತಣ ಮಾಡಿಸಿದನು.
His father went down to the woman; and Samson made a feast there, for the young men used to do so.
11 ಅವರು ಅವನನ್ನು ಕಂಡಾಗ, ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡ ಇರುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಮೂವತ್ತು ಮಂದಿ ಸಂಗಡಿಗರನ್ನು ಕೊಟ್ಟರು.
When they saw him, they brought thirty companions to be with him.
12 ಅವರಿಗೆ ಸಂಸೋನನು, “ನಾನು ನಿಮಗೆ ಒಂದು ಒಗಟನ್ನು ಹೇಳುವೆನು; ನೀವು ಅದನ್ನು ಔತಣದ ಈ ಏಳು ದಿವಸಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಗ್ರಹಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಹೇಳಿದರೆ, ನಾನು ನಿಮಗೆ ಮೂವತ್ತು ದುಪ್ಪಟಿಗಳನ್ನು, ಮೂವತ್ತು ಜೊತೆ ಬಟ್ಟೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕೊಡುವೆನು.
Samson said to them, “Let me tell you a riddle now. If you can tell me the answer within the seven days of the feast, and find it out, then I will give you thirty linen garments and thirty changes of clothing;
13 ನಿಮ್ಮಿಂದ ಗ್ರಹಿಸಲು ಆಗದೆ ಹೋದರೆ, ನೀವು ನನಗೆ ಮೂವತ್ತು ದುಪ್ಪಟಿಗಳನ್ನು, ಮೂವತ್ತು ಜೊತೆ ಬಟ್ಟೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕೊಡಬೇಕು,” ಎಂದನು. ಅವರು ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ನೀನು ನಿನ್ನ ಒಗಟನ್ನು ಹೇಳು, ಅದನ್ನು ಕೇಳೋಣ,” ಎಂದರು.
but if you cannot tell me the answer, then you shall give me thirty linen garments and thirty changes of clothing.” They said to him, “Tell us your riddle, that we may hear it.”
14 ಆಗ ಅವನು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೇನೆಂದರೆ, “ತಿಂದು ಬಿಡುವಂಥದ್ದರಿಂದ ತಿನ್ನತಕ್ಕದ್ದು ಹೊರಟಿತು. ಬಲಿಷ್ಠವಾದದ್ದರಿಂದ ಸಿಹಿಯು ಹೊರಟಿತು.” ಒಗಟನ್ನು ಅವರು ಮೂರು ದಿವಸ ಬಿಡಿಸಲಾರದೆ ಹೋದರು.
He said to them, “Out of the eater came out food. Out of the strong came out sweetness.” They could not in three days declare the riddle.
15 ನಾಲ್ಕನೆಯ ದಿವಸದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರು ಸಂಸೋನನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಗೆ, “ನಾವು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನೂ, ನಿನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯ ಮನೆಯನ್ನೂ ಬೆಂಕಿಯಿಂದ ಸುಟ್ಟು ಬಿಡದ ಹಾಗೆ ನೀನು ನಿನ್ನ ಗಂಡನ ಆ ಒಗಟನ್ನು ನಮಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸುವ ಹಾಗೆ ಅವನನ್ನು ಮರಳುಗೊಳಿಸು. ನೀನು ನಮಗಿರುವುದೆಲ್ಲವನ್ನು ಕಸಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಅಲ್ಲವೇ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಇಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಕರೆಸಿದೆ?” ಎಂದರು.
On the seventh day, they said to Samson’s wife, “Entice your husband, that he may declare to us the riddle, lest we burn you and your father’s house with fire. Have you called us to impoverish us? Is not that so?”
16 ಆಗ ಸಂಸೋನನ ಹೆಂಡತಿ ಅವನ ಮುಂದೆ ಅತ್ತು, “ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಹಗೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವೆ. ನೀನು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ನಿಜವಾಗಿ ಪ್ರೀತಿ ಮಾಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ, ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ನೀನು ನನ್ನ ಜನರಿಗೆ ಒಂದು ಒಗಟನ್ನು ಹೇಳಿ ನನಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸದೆ ಹೋದೆ,” ಎಂದಳು. ಅವನು ಅವಳಿಗೆ, “ಇಗೋ, ನಾನು ನನ್ನ ತಂದೆತಾಯಿಗೆ ಅದನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲ. ನಿನಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸುವೆನೋ?” ಎಂದನು.
Samson’s wife wept before him, and said, “You just hate me, and do not love me. You have told a riddle to the children of my people, and have not told it to me.” He said to her, “Behold, I have not told my father or my mother, so why should I tell you?”
17 ಅವಳು ಔತಣದ ಏಳು ದಿವಸಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಅವನ ಮುಂದೆ ಅಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದಳು. ಆದರೆ ಏಳನೆಯ ದಿವಸದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವಳು, ಅವನನ್ನು ಬಹಳವಾಗಿ ಪೀಡಿಸಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಒಗಟಿನ ಅರ್ಥವನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಸಿದನು. ಆಗ ಆಕೆ ತನ್ನ ಜನರಿಗೆ ಆ ಒಗಟನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಸಿದಳು.
She wept before him the seven days, while their feast lasted; and on the seventh day, he told her, because she pressed him severely; and she told the riddle to the children of her people.
18 ಏಳನೆಯ ದಿವಸದಲ್ಲಿ ಸೂರ್ಯ ಮುಳುಗುವುದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಮುಂಚೆ ಆ ಊರಿನವರು ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ಜೇನಿಗಿಂತ ಸಿಹಿಯಾದದ್ದೇನು? ಸಿಂಹಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಬಲಿಷ್ಠವಾದದ್ದೇನು?” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು. ಅವನು ಉತ್ತರವಾಗಿ ಅವರಿಗೆ, “ನೀವು ನನ್ನ ಕಡಸಿನಿಂದ ಉಳದೆ ಇದ್ದರೆ, ನನ್ನ ಒಗಟನ್ನು ಗ್ರಹಿಸಲಾರಿರಿ.”
The men of the city said to him on the seventh day before the sun went down, “What is sweeter than honey? What is stronger than a lion?” He said to them, “If you had not plowed with my heifer, you would not have found out my riddle.”
19 ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರ ಆತ್ಮ ಅವನ ಮೇಲೆ ಬಂದದ್ದರಿಂದ, ಅವನು ಅಷ್ಕೆಲೋನಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ, ಆ ಊರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಮೂವತ್ತು ಜನರನ್ನು ವಧಿಸಿ, ಸುಲಿದುಕೊಂಡು ಒಗಟನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಸಿದವರಿಗೆ ದುಸ್ತು ವಸ್ತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ಕೊಟ್ಟನು.
The LORD’s Spirit came mightily on him, and he went down to Ashkelon and struck thirty men of them. He took their plunder, then gave the changes of clothing to those who declared the riddle. His anger burned, and he went up to his father’s house.
20 ಅವನು ಕೋಪಗೊಂಡು ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯ ಮನೆಗೆ ಹೊರಟುಹೋದನು. ಆದರೆ ಸಂಸೋನನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯನ್ನು ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡ ಸ್ನೇಹಿತನಾಗಿದ್ದವನಿಗೆ ಮದುವೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಟ್ಟರು.
But Samson’s wife was given to his companion, who had been his friend.
