< 2 Samue 1 >
1 Hagi Soli'ma fritegeno'a, Ameleki vahera Deviti'a hara huzmagatereteno, tare zagegna Ziklaki kumatera emani'ne.
Now after the death of Saul, when David, having come back from the destruction of the Amalekites, had been in Ziklag for two days;
2 Hagi nampa 3 knazupa mago nehaza ne'mo kukena'a tagato nehuno, asenifina kugusopa kateno freteno, Soli sondia vahe'mokizmi seli nonkumapinti atreno freno e'ne. Hagi ana ne'mo'ma Devitinte'ma enehanatino'a, Deviti agafi avugosaregati emase'ne.
On the third day a man came from Saul's tents, with his clothing out of order and earth on his head: and when he came to David, he went down on the earth and gave him honour.
3 Hagi ana nera Deviti'a anage huno antahige'ne, Kagra igati e'nane? Higeno ana ne'mo kenona huno, Nagra Israeli vahe seli nonkumapinti fre'na e'noe.
And David said to him, Where have you come from? And he said, I have come in flight from the tents of Israel.
4 Higeno Deviti'a antahigeno, Muse hugantonki na'a fore hu'nefi nasamio, higeno ana ne'mo'a kenona huno, rama'a vahera hapintira atre'za fri'zageno, rama vahetamine, Soline, nemofo Jonataninena zamahe fri'naze.
And David said to him, How did things go? Give me the news. And in answer he said, The people have gone in flight from the fight, and a great number of them are dead; and Saul and his son Jonathan are dead.
5 Hagi Deviti'a ana nehaza nera antahigeno, Soli'ene nemofo Jonatanikema fri'na'e nanekea inankna hunka antahi'nane?
And David said to the young man who gave him the news, Why are you certain that Saul and his son Jonathan are dead?
6 Ana nehaza ne'mo'a kenona huno, Nagra Gilboa agonare mani'nena kogeno, Soli'a karugaru keve'are rentinti huno oti'ne.
And the young man said, I came by chance to Mount Gilboa, and I saw Saul supporting himself on his spear; and the war-carriages and horsemen overtook him.
7 Hagi agra rukrahe huno nenageno, kezanke hige'na voe hu'na hugeno,
And looking back, he saw me and gave a cry to me. And answering him I said, Here am I.
And he said to me, Who are you? And I said, I am an Amalekite.
Then he said to me, Come here to my side, and put me to death, for the pain of death has me in its grip but my life is still strong in me.
10 Hige'na nagra agrite uravao hu'na ahe fri'noe. Na'ankure nagra kena antahi'nama huana agra ra hazenke eri'neankino manigara osu'nege'na, ahe nefri'na, kini fetori'a e'neri'na, azampinti asama'a katufe'na ama eri'na ranimokarega neue.
So I put my foot on him and gave him his death-blow, because I was certain that he would not go on living after his fall: and I took the crown from his head and the band from his arm, and I have them here for my lord.
Then David gave way to bitter grief, and so did all the men who were with him:
12 Hagi Soline Jonatanine, Ra Anumzamofo sondia vahetamine, rama'a vahetamine Israeli vahetamima fri'naza zanku zamasunku nehu'za, zamagra zavi krafa nehu'za ne'zana one mani'nageno vuno kinagase'ne. Na'ankure rama'a vahetamina bainati kazinknonteti'ma zamahe fri'naza zanku anara hu'naze.
And till evening they gave themselves to sorrow and weeping, and took no food, weeping for Saul and for Jonathan, his son, and for the people of the Lord and for the men of Israel; because they had come to their end by the sword.
13 Hagi kema erino e'nea nehaza nera Deviti'a antahigeno, Kagra iga rise mani'nane, higeno ana risemo'a huno Nagra Ameleki vahe'ma kagri mopafima emani'naza vahe'mokizmi mofavre mani'noe huno hu'ne.
And David said to the young man who had given him the news, Where do you come from? And he said, I am the son of a man from a strange land; I am an Amalekite.
14 Hagi ana risera Deviti'a antahigeno, nahigenka masavema frenteno Ra Anumzamofonte'ma huhampri ante'nea nera korera osunka ahe fri'nane?
And David said to him, Had you no fear of stretching out your hand to put to death the one marked with the holy oil?
15 Huteno Deviti'a mago sondia ne' ke higeno egeno, ana nera bainati kazinknoteti ome akafrio, huno higeno ana nehaza nera ome ahe fri'ne.
And David sent for one of his young men and said, Go near and put an end to him. And he put him to death.
16 Ana higeno Deviti'a ana Ameleki ne'mofo avufga negeno anage hu'ne, kagra'a hu'nana hazenke zamofo nona'a frine. Kagraka'a huama hunka nagra Ra Anumzamo'ma huhamprinte'nea kini ne' ahe fri'noe hunka hu'nane.
And David said to him, May your blood be on your head; for your mouth has given witness against you, saying, I have put to death the man marked with the holy oil.
17 Hagi Deviti'a Soline Jonatanikiznigura asunku nehuno zavi asunenteno,
Then David made this song of grief for Saul and Jonathan, his son:
18 Judia vahekura ana zagamera rempi huzaminke'za hiho huno hu'ne. Hagi ama ana zagamera atimofo zagamere hu'za nehazankino, Jasari avontafepi krente'naze. Amanage huno ana zagamera Deviti'a hu'ne,
(It is recorded in the book of Jashar for teaching to the sons of Judah) and he said:
19 Israeli vahe'mota tamagimo'ma mareri'nea vahetamimotma agonaramimpi frizageno, himamunentake sondi'a vahetamimo'zanena fri'naze.
The glory, O Israel, is dead on your high places! How have the great ones been made low!
20 Ana zamofo agenkea Gati kumapina ome huama nosuta, Askeloni kumapinena ome hu amara osiho. Ru Filistia vahe'mokizmi mofa'nemo'za muse hugahaze. Hagi oku zamavufaga taga osu Filistia vahe'mokizmi mofa'nemo'za antahisu'za muse nehu'za tagizaregahaze.
Give no news of it in Gath, let it not be said in the streets of Ashkelon; or the daughters of the Philistines will be glad, the daughters of men without circumcision will be uplifted in joy.
21 Gilboa agonarera atara ohesigeno, kora ruontena, hozafima ofama hu witi raga reontesie. Na'ankure hanave ne'mofo hankoa azeri pehana higeno, Solina mago'ane hankoarera masavena freontegosie.
O mountains of Gilboa, let there be no dew or rain on you, you fields of death: for there the arms of the strong have been shamed, the arms of Saul, as if he had not been marked with the holy oil.
22 Jonatani atia vahe ahe vagare ati me'neankino hatetira amane omegosie. Hagi Soli bainati kazimo'a, amane nomaneanki hanave sondia vahe nezamahegeno, ha' vahe'zamimofo koramo'a ana kazintera avite'ne.
From the blood of the dead, from the fat of the strong, the bow of Jonathan was not turned back, the sword of Saul did not come back unused.
Saul and Jonathan were loved and pleasing; in their lives and in their death they were not parted; they went more quickly than eagles, they were stronger than lions.
24 Hagi Israeli mofanemota Solinkura tamasunku nehuta, zavira ateho. Agra marerirfa korankre kukena huneramanteno, golire pasesu kukenatamirera rekamrente'ne.
O daughters of Israel, have sorrow for Saul, by whom you were delicately clothed in robes of red, with ornaments of gold on your dresses.
25 Hagi ana hapina hanavenentake sondia vahera frizageno, Jonatani'enena fri'negeno, avufgamo'a agonafi me'ne.
How have the great ones been made low in the fight! Jonathan is dead on your high places.
26 Hagi nenafu Jonataniga kagrikura tusiza hu'na zavi krafa nehu'na, kagrira tusiza hu'na navesigantoe. Kagrama nagri'ma kavesinante'nanana vene'nemo'ma a'nema avesinentea avamena agaterenka, kavesinante'nane.
I am full of grief for you, my brother Jonathan: very dear have you been to me: your love for me was a wonder, greater than the love of women.
27 Hanavenentake sondia vahera ha'pi zamahe vagarazageno, ha'zazmimo'a haviza hu'ne.
How have the great ones been made low, and the arms of war broken!
