ヨエル書 2
1 あなたがたはシオンでラッパを吹け。わが聖なる山で警報を吹きならせ。国の民はみな、ふるいわななけ。主の日が来るからである。それは近い。
Blow the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm on my holy mountain. Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble, for the day of YHWH is coming, for it is near.
2 これは暗く、薄暗い日、雲の群がるまっくらな日である。多くの強い民が暗やみのようにもろもろの山をおおう。このようなことは昔からあったことがなく、後の代々の年にも再び起ることがないであろう。
A day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness. As blackness spreading on the mountains a great and powerful people; there has never been the like, neither will there be any more after them, even after the years of many generations.
3 火は彼らの前を焼き、炎は彼らの後に燃える。彼らのこない前には、地はエデンの園のようであるが、その去った後は荒れ果てた野のようになる。これをのがれうるものは一つもない。
A fire devours before them, and behind them, a flame burns. The land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them, a desolate wilderness. Yes, and no one has escaped them.
4 そのかたちは馬のかたちのようであり、その走ることは軍馬のようである。
The appearance of them is as the appearance of horses, and as horsemen, so do they run.
5 山の頂でとびおどる音は、戦車のとどろくようである。また刈り株を焼く火の炎の音のようであり、戦いの備えをした強い軍隊のようである。
Like the noise of chariots on the tops of the mountains do they leap, like the noise of a flame of fire that devours the stubble, as a mighty people drawn up for battle.
6 その前にもろもろの民はなやみ、すべての顔は色を失う。
At their presence the peoples are in anguish. All faces have grown pale.
7 彼らは勇士のように走り、兵士のように城壁によじ登る。彼らはおのおの自分の道を進んで行って、その道を踏みはずさない。
They run like mighty men. They climb the wall like warriors. They each march in his line, and they do not swerve off course.
8 彼らは互におしあわず、おのおのその道を進み行く。彼らは武器の中にとびこんでも、身をそこなわない。
Neither does one jostle another; they march everyone in his path, and they burst through the defenses, and do not break ranks.
9 彼らは町にとび入り、城壁の上を走り、家々によじ登り、盗びとのように窓からはいる。
They rush on the city. They run on the wall. They climb up into the houses. They enter in at the windows like thieves.
10 地は彼らの前におののき、天はふるい、日も月も暗くなり、星はその光を失う。
The earth quakes before them. The heavens tremble. The sun and the moon are darkened, and the stars withdraw their shining.
11 主はその軍勢の前で声をあげられる。その軍隊は非常に多いからである。そのみ言葉をなし遂げる者は強い。主の日は大いにして、はなはだ恐ろしいゆえ、だれがこれに耐えることができよう。
YHWH thunders his voice before his army; for his forces are very great; for he is strong who obeys his command; for the day of YHWH is great and very awesome, and who can endure it?
12 主は言われる、「今からでも、あなたがたは心をつくし、断食と嘆きと、悲しみとをもってわたしに帰れ。
"Yet even now," says YHWH, "turn to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning."
13 あなたがたは衣服ではなく、心を裂け」。あなたがたの神、主に帰れ。主は恵みあり、あわれみあり、怒ることがおそく、いつくしみが豊かで、災を思いかえされるからである。
Tear your heart, and not your garments, and turn to YHWH, your God; for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness, and relents from sending calamity.
14 神があるいは立ち返り、思いかえして祝福をその後に残し、素祭と灌祭とをあなたがたの神、主にささげさせられる事はないとだれが知るだろうか。
Who knows? He may turn and relent, and leave a blessing behind him, even a meal offering and a drink offering to YHWH, your God.
15 シオンでラッパを吹きならせ。断食を聖別し、聖会を召集し、
Blow the trumpet in Zion. Sanctify a fast. Call a solemn assembly.
16 民を集め、会衆を聖別し、老人たちを集め、幼な子、乳のみ子を集め、花婿をその家から呼びだし、花嫁をそのへやから呼びだせ。
Gather the people. Sanctify the assembly. Assemble the elders. Gather the children, and those who suck the breasts. Let the bridegroom go forth from his room, and the bride out of her chamber.
17 主に仕える祭司たちは、廊と祭壇との間で泣いて言え、「主よ、あなたの民をゆるし、あなたの嗣業をもろもろの国民のうちに、そしりと笑い草にさせないでください。どうしてもろもろの国民に、『彼らの神はどこにいるのか』と言わせてよいでしょうか」。
Let the priests, the ministers of YHWH, weep between the porch and the altar, and let them say, "Spare your people, YHWH, and do not give your heritage to mockery, a byword among the nations. Why should they say among the peoples, 'Where is their God?'"
18 その時主は自分の地のために、ねたみを起し、その民をあわれまれた。
Then YHWH was jealous for his land, And had pity on his people.
19 主は答えて、その民に言われた、「見よ、わたしは穀物と新しい酒と油とをあなたがたに送る。あなたがたはこれを食べて飽きるであろう。わたしは重ねてあなたがたにもろもろの国民のうちでそしりを受けさせない。
YHWH answered his people, "Look, I will send you grain, new wine, and oil, and you will eat and you will be satisfied with them; and I will no more make you a reproach among the nations.
20 わたしは北から来る者をあなたがたから遠ざけ、これをかわいた荒れ地に追いやり、その前の者を東の海に、その後の者を西の海に追いやる。その臭いにおいは起り、その悪しきにおいは上る。これは大いなる事をしたからである。
But I will remove the northern army far away from you, and will drive it into a barren and desolate land, its front into the eastern sea, and its back into the western sea; and its stench will come up, and its bad smell will rise." Surely he has done great things.
21 地よ恐るな、喜び楽しめ、主は大いなる事を行われたからである。
Land, do not be afraid. Be glad and rejoice, for YHWH has done great things.
22 野のもろもろの獣よ、恐るな。荒野の牧草はもえいで、木はその実を結び、いちじくの木とぶどうの木とは豊かに実る。
Do not be afraid, you animals of the field; for the pastures of the wilderness spring up, for the tree bears its fruit. The fig tree and the vine yield their strength.
23 シオンの子らよ、あなたがたの神、主によって喜び楽しめ。主はあなたがたを義とするために秋の雨を賜い、またあなたがたのために豊かに雨を降らせ、前のように、秋の雨と春の雨とを降らせられる。
"Be glad then, you people of Zion, and rejoice in YHWH, your God; for he gives you the former rain in just measure, and he causes the rain to come down for you, the former rain and the latter rain, as before.
24 打ち場は穀物で満ち、石がめは新しい酒と油とであふれる。
The threshing floors will be full of wheat, and the vats will overflow with new wine and oil.
25 わたしがあなたがたに送った大軍、すなわち群がるいなご、とびいなご、滅ぼすいなご、かみ食らういなごの食った年をわたしはあなたがたに償う。
I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the great locust, the grasshopper, and the caterpillar, my great army, which I sent among you.
26 あなたがたは、じゅうぶん食べて飽き、あなたがたに不思議なわざをなされたあなたがたの神、主のみ名をほめたたえる。わが民は永遠にはずかしめられることがない。
You will have plenty to eat, and be satisfied, and will praise the name of YHWH, your God, who has dealt wondrously with you; and my people will never be put to shame.
27 あなたがたはイスラエルのうちにわたしのいることを知り、主なるわたしがあなたがたの神であって、ほかにないことを知る。わが民は永遠にはずかしめられることがない。
You will know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am YHWH, your God, and there is no one else; and my people will never be put to shame.
28 その後わたしはわが霊をすべての肉なる者に注ぐ。あなたがたのむすこ、娘は預言をし、あなたがたの老人たちは夢を見、あなたがたの若者たちは幻を見る。
"And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; and your sons and your daughters will prophesy, and your old men will dream dreams, and your young men will see visions.
29 その日わたしはまたわが霊をしもべ、はしために注ぐ。
And also on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days.
30 わたしはまた、天と地とにしるしを示す。すなわち血と、火と、煙の柱とがあるであろう。
And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth: blood, fire, and pillars of smoke.
31 主の大いなる恐るべき日が来る前に、日は暗く、月は血に変る。
The sun will be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and awesome day of YHWH comes.
32 すべて主の名を呼ぶ者は救われる。それは主が言われたように、シオンの山とエルサレムとに、のがれる者があるからである。その残った者のうちに、主のお召しになる者がある。
And it will happen that whoever will call on the name of YHWH shall be saved; for in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there will be those who escape, as YHWH has said, and among the remnant, those whom YHWH calls.
