イザヤ書 34
1 もろもろの国よ、近づいて聞け。もろもろの民よ、耳を傾けよ。地とそれに満ちるもの、世界とそれから出るすべてのものよ、聞け。
Come near, ye nations, to hear; and hearken, ye peoples: let the earth hear, and the fulness thereof; the world, and all things that come forth from it.
2 主はすべての国にむかって怒り、そのすべての軍勢にむかって憤り、彼らをことごとく滅ぼし、彼らをわたして、ほふらせられた。
For Jehovah hath indignation against all the nations, and wrath against all their host: he hath utterly destroyed them, he hath delivered them to the slaughter.
3 彼らは殺されて投げすてられ、その死体の悪臭は立ちのぼり、山々はその血で溶けて流れる。
Their slain also shall be cast out, and the stench of their dead bodies shall come up; and the mountains shall be melted with their blood.
4 天の万象は衰え、もろもろの天は巻物のように巻かれ、その万象はぶどうの木から葉の落ちるように、いちじくの木から葉の落ちるように落ちる。
And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll; and all their host shall fade away, as the leaf fadeth from off the vine, and as a fading [leaf] from the fig-tree.
5 わたしのつるぎは天において憤りをもって酔った。見よ、これはエドムの上にくだり、わたしが滅びに定めた民の上にくだって、これをさばく。
For my sword hath drunk its fill in heaven: behold, it shall come down upon Edom, and upon the people of my curse, to judgment.
6 主のつるぎは血で満ち、脂肪で肥え、小羊とやぎの血、雄羊の腎臓の脂肪で肥えている。主がボズラで犠牲の獣をほふり、エドムの地で大いに殺されたからである。
The sword of Jehovah is filled with blood, it is made fat with fatness, with the blood of lambs and goats, with the fat of the kidneys of rams; for Jehovah hath a sacrifice in Bozrah, and a great slaughter in the land of Edom.
7 野牛は彼らと共にほふり場にくだり、子牛は力ある雄牛と共にくだる。その国は血で酔い、その土は脂肪で肥やされる。
And the wild-oxen shall come down with them, and the bullocks with the bulls: and their land shall be drunken with blood, and their dust made fat with fatness.
8 主はあだをかえす日をもち、シオンの訴えのために報いられる年をもたれるからである。
For Jehovah hath a day of vengeance, a year of recompense for the cause of Zion.
9 エドムのもろもろの川は変って樹脂となり、その土は変って硫黄となり、その地は変って燃える樹脂となって、
And the streams of [Edom] shall be turned into pitch, and the dust thereof into brimstone, and the land thereof shall become burning pitch.
10 夜も昼も消えず、その煙は、とこしえに立ちのぼる。これは世々荒れすたれて、とこしえまでもそこを通る者はない。
It shall not be quenched night nor day; the smoke thereof shall go up for ever; from generation to generation it shall lie waste; none shall pass through it for ever and ever.
11 たかと、やまあらしとがそこをすみかとし、ふくろうと、からすがそこに住む。主はその上に荒廃をきたらせる測りなわを張り、尊い人々の上に混乱を起す下げ振りをさげられる。
But the pelican and the porcupine shall possess it; and the owl and the raven shall dwell therein: and he will stretch over it the line of confusion, and the plummet of emptiness.
12 人々はこれを名づけて「国なき所」といい、その君たちは皆うせてなくなる。
They shall call the nobles thereof to the kingdom, but none shall be there; and all its princes shall be nothing.
13 そのとりでの上には、いばらが生え、その城には、いらくさと、あざみとが生え、山犬のすみか、だちょうのおる所となる。
And thorns shall come up in its palaces, nettles and thistles in the fortresses thereof; and it shall be a habitation of jackals, a court for ostriches.
14 野の獣はハイエナと出会い、鬼神はその友を呼び、夜の魔女もそこに降りてきて、休み所を得る。
And the wild beasts of the desert shall meet with the wolves, and the wild goat shall cry to his fellow; yea, the night-monster shall settle there, and shall find her a place of rest.
15 ふくろうはそこに巣をつくって卵を産み、それをかえして、そのひなを翼の陰に集める。とびもまた、おのおのその連れ合いと共に、そこに集まる。
There shall the dart-snake make her nest, and lay, and hatch, and gather under her shade; yea, there shall the kites be gathered, every one with her mate.
16 あなたがたは主の書をつまびらかにたずねて、これを読め。これらのものは一つも欠けることなく、また一つもその連れ合いを欠くものはない。これは主の口がこれを命じ、その霊が彼らを集められたからである。
Seek ye out of the book of Jehovah, and read: no one of these shall be missing, none shall want her mate; for my mouth, it hath commanded, and his Spirit, it hath gathered them.
17 主は彼らのためにくじを引き、手ずから測りなわをもって、この地を分け与え、長く彼らに所有させ、世々ここに住まわせられる。
And he hath cast the lot for them, and his hand hath divided it unto them by line: they shall possess it for ever; from generation to generation shall they dwell therein.
