ヨシュア記 24

1 茲にヨシユア、イスラエルの一切の支派をシケムに集めイスラエルの長老首領裁判人官吏などを招きよせて諸共に神の前に進みいで

Joshua gathered all the tribes of Israel to Shechem, and called for the elders of Israel, for their heads, for their judges, and for their officers; and they presented themselves before God.

2 而してヨシユアすべての民に言けるはイスラヱルの神ヱホバかく言たまふ汝らの遠祖すなはちアブラハムの父たりナホルの父たりしテラのごときは在昔河の彼旁に住て皆他神に事へたりしが

Joshua said to all the people, "Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, 'Your fathers lived of old time beyond the River, even Terah, the father of Abraham, and the father of Nahor: and they served other gods.

3 我なんぢらの先祖アブラハムを河の彼旁より携へ出してカナンの全地を導きてすぎその子孫を増んとして之にイサクを與へたり

I took your father Abraham from beyond the River, and led him throughout all the land of Canaan, and multiplied his descendants, and gave him Isaac.

4 而してイサクにヤコブとエサウを與へエサウにセイル山を與へて獲させたりまたヤコブとその子等はエジプトに下れり

And I gave to Isaac Jacob and Esau. And I gave to Esau Mount Seir, to possess it. And Jacob and his children went down into Egypt, and became there a great and numerous and mighty nation, and the Egyptians afflicted them.

5 我モーセおよびアロンを遣はしまた災禍をエジプトに降せり我がその中に爲たる所の事のごとし而して後われ汝らを導びき出せり

And I sent Moses and Aaron, and I plagued Egypt, according to that which I did in its midst; and afterward I brought you out

6 我なんぢらの父をエジプト入り導き出し汝ら海に至りしにエジプト人戰車と騎兵とをもて汝らの後を追て紅海に來りけるが

from Egypt. And you came to the sea, and the Egyptians pursued after your fathers with chariots and with horsemen to the Red Sea.

7 汝らの父等ヱホバに呼はりければヱホバ黑暗を汝らとエジプト人との間に置き海を彼らの上に傾むけて彼らを淹へり汝らは我がエジプトにて爲たる事を目に觀たり斯て汝らは日ひさしく曠野に住をれり

When they cried out to the LORD, he put darkness between you and the Egyptians, and brought the sea on them, and covered them; and your eyes saw what I did in Egypt: and you lived in the wilderness many days.

8 我またヨルダンの彼旁にすめるアモリ人の地に汝らを携へいれたり彼ら汝らと戰ひければ我かれらを汝らの手に付しかれらの地をなんぢらに獲しめ彼らを汝らの前より滅ぼし去り

I brought you into the land of the Amorites, that lived beyond the Jordan: and they fought with you; and I gave them into your hand. You possessed their land; and I destroyed them from before you.

9 時にモアブの王チツポルの子バラク起てイスラエルに敵し人を遣はしてペオルの子バラムを招きて汝らを詛はせんとしたりしが

Then Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, arose and fought against Israel. He sent and called Balaam the son of Beor to curse you;

10 我バラムに聽ことを爲ざりければ彼かへつて汝らを祝せり斯われ汝らを彼の手より拯出せり

but I would not listen to Balaam; therefore he blessed you still. So I delivered you out of his hand.

11 而して汝らヨルダンを濟りてヱリコに至りしにヱリコの人々すなはちアモリ人ペリジ人カナン人ヘテ人ギルガシ人ヒビ人ヱブス人等なんぢらに敵したりしが我かれらを汝らの手に付せり

You went over the Jordan, and came to Jericho. The men of Jericho fought against you, the Amorite, the Perizzite, the Canaanite, the Hethite, the Girgashite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite; and I delivered them into your hand.

12 われ黄蜂を汝らの前に遣はして彼のアモリ人の王二人を汝らの前より逐はらへり汝らの劍または汝らの弓を用ひて斯せしに非ず

I sent the hornet before you, which drove them out from before you, even the two kings of the Amorites; not with your sword, nor with your bow.

13 而して我なんちらが勞せしに非ざる地を汝らに與へ汝らが建たるに非ざる邑を汝らに與へたり汝らは今その中に住をる汝らは亦己が作りたるに非ざる葡萄園と橄欖園とにつきて食ふ

I gave you a land whereon you had not labored, and cities which you did not build, and you live in them. You eat of vineyards and olive groves which you did not plant.'

14 然ば汝らヱホバを畏れ赤心と眞實とをもて之に事へ汝らの先祖が河の彼邊およびエジプトにて事へたる神を除きてヱホバに事へよ

Now therefore fear the LORD, and serve him in sincerity and in truth. Put away the gods which your fathers served beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the LORD.

15 汝ら若ヱホバに事ふることを惡とせば汝らの先祖が河の彼邊にて事へし神々にもあれ又は汝らが今をる地のアモリ人の神々にもあれ汝らの事ふべき者を今日選べ但し我と我家とは共にヱホバに事へん

If it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose this day whom you will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD."

16 民こたへて言けるはヱホバを棄て他神に事ふることは我等きはめて爲じ

The people answered, "Far be it from us that we should forsake the LORD, to serve other gods;

17 其は我らの神ヱホバみづから我等と我らの先祖とをエジプトの地奴隸の家より導き上りかつ我らの目の前にかの大なる徴を行ひ我らが往し一切の路にて我らを守りまた我らが其中間を通りし一切の民の中にて我らを守りたまひければなり

for it is the LORD our God who brought us and our fathers up out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage, and who did those great signs in our sight, and preserved us in all the way in which we went, and among all the peoples through the midst of whom we passed.

18 而してヱホバ此地に住をりしアモリ人などいふ一切の民を我らの前より逐はらひたまへり然ば我らもヱホバに事へん彼は我らの神なればなり

The LORD drove out from before us all the peoples, even the Amorites who lived in the land. Therefore we also will serve the LORD; for he is our God."

19 ヨシユア民に言けるは汝らはヱホバに事ふること能はざらん其は彼は聖神また妬みたまふ神にして汝らの罪愆を赦したまはざればなり

Joshua said to the people, "You can't serve the LORD; for he is a holy God. He is a jealous God. He will not forgive your disobedience nor your sins.

20 汝ら若ヱホバを棄て他神に事へなば汝らに福祉を降したまへる後にも亦ひるがへりて汝らに災禍を降して汝らを滅ぼしたまはん

If you forsake the LORD, and serve foreign gods, then he will turn and do you harm, and consume you, after he has done you good."

21 民ヨシユアに言けるは否我ら必らずヱホバに事ふべしと

The people said to Joshua, "No; but we will serve the LORD."

22 ヨシユア民に向ひて汝らはヱホバを選びて之に事へんといへりなんぢら自らその證人たりと言ければ皆我らは證人なりと答ふ

Joshua said to the people, "You are witnesses against yourselves that you have chosen you the LORD, to serve him." They said, "We are witnesses."

23 ヨシユアまた言り然ば汝らの中にある異なる神を除きてイスラエルの神ヱホバに汝らの心を傾むけよ

"Now therefore put away the foreign gods which are among you, and incline your heart to the LORD, the God of Israel."

24 民ヨシユアに言けるは我らの神ヱホバに我らは事へ其聲に我らは聽したがふべしと

The people said to Joshua, "We will serve the LORD our God, and we will listen to his voice."

25 ヨシユアすなはち其日民と契約を結びシケムにおいて法度と定規とを彼らのために設けたり

So Joshua made a covenant with the people that day, and made for them a statute and an ordinance in Shechem.

26 ヨシユアこれらの言を神の律法の書に書しるし大なる石をとり彼處にてヱホバの聖所の傍なる樫の樹の下に之を立て

Joshua wrote these words in the book of the law of God; and he took a great stone, and set it up there under the oak that was by the sanctuary of the LORD.

27 而してヨシユア一切の民に言けるは視よ此石われらの證となるべし是はヱホバの我らに語りたまひし言をことごとく聞たればなり然ば汝らが己の神を棄ること無らんために此石なんぢらの證となるべしと

Joshua said to all the people, "Look, this stone shall be a witness against us; for it has heard all the words of the LORD which he spoke to us. It shall be therefore a witness against you, lest you deny your God."

28 かくてヨシユア民を各々その產業に歸しさらしめたりき

So Joshua sent the people away, every man to his inheritance.

29 是らの事の後ヱホバの僕ヌンの子ヨシユア百十歳にして死り

It happened after these things, that Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of the LORD, died, being one hundred ten years old.

30 人衆これをその產業の地の内にてテムナテセラに葬むれりテムナテセラはエフライムの山地にてガアシ山の北にあり

They buried him in the border of his inheritance in Timnath Serah, which is in the hill country of Ephraim, on the north of the mountain of Gaash.

31 イスラエルはヨシユアの世にある日の間またヱホバがイスラエルのために行ひたまひし諸の事を識ゐてヨシユアの後に生存れる長老等の世にある日の間つねにヱホバに事へたり

Israel served the LORD all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders who outlived Joshua, and had known all the work of the LORD, that he had worked for Israel.

32 イスラエルの子孫のエジプトより携さへ上りしヨセフの骨を昔ヤコブが銀百枚をもてシケムの父ハモルの子等より買たりしシケムの中なる一の地に葬れり是はヨセフの子孫の產業となりぬ

They buried the bones of Joseph, which the children of Israel brought up out of Egypt, in Shechem, in the parcel of ground which Jacob bought of the sons of Hamor the father of Shechem for a hundred kesitahs. They became the inheritance of the descendants of Joseph.

33 アロンの子エレアザルもまた死り人衆これを其子ピネハスがエフライムの山地にて受たりし岡に葬れり

Eleazar the son of Aaron died. They buried him in the hill of Phinehas his son, which was given him in the hill country of Ephraim.
