創世記 12
1 爰にヱホバ、アブラムに言たまひけるは汝の國を出で汝の親族に別れ汝の父の家を離れて我が汝に示さん其地に至れ
Now God had said to Abram, "Go out from your country, and from your relatives, and from your father's house, to the land that I will show you.
2 我汝を大なる國民と成し汝を祝み汝の名を大ならしめん汝は祉福の基となるべし
And I will make of you a great nation. And I will bless you and make your name great. And you will be a blessing.
3 我は汝を祝する者を祝し汝を詛ふ者を詛はん天下の諸の宗族汝によりて福禔を獲と
And I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse those who treat you with contempt, and through you all the families of the earth will be blessed."
4 アブラム乃ちヱホバの自己に言たまひし言に從て出たりロト彼と共に行りアブラムはハランを出たる時七十五歳なりき
So Abram left, as God had told him, and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran.
5 アブラム其妻サライと其弟の子ロトおよび其集めたる總の所有とハランにて獲たる人衆を携へてカナンの地に往んとて出で遂にカナンの地に至れり
Abram took Sarai his wife, Lot his brother's son, and all their possessions that they had accumulated, and the people whom they had acquired in Haran, and they left to go to the land of Canaan. And they came to the land of Canaan,
6 アブラム其地を經過てシケムの處に及びモレの橡樹に至れり其時にカナン人其地に住り
and Abram passed through the land to the place of Shechem, to the oak of Moreh. At that time the Canaanites were in the land.
7 茲にヱホバ、アブラムに顯現れて我汝の苗裔に此地に與へんといひたまへり彼處にて彼己に顯現れたまひしヱホバに壇を築けり
Then God appeared to Abram and said to him, "I will give this land to your offspring." He built an altar there to God, who appeared to him.
8 彼其處よりベテルの東の山に移りて其天幕を張り西にベテル東にアイありき彼處にて彼ヱホバに壇を築きヱホバの名を龥り
He left from there to the mountain on the east of Bethel, and pitched his tent, having Bethel on the west, and Ai on the east. There he built an altar and called on the name of God.
9 アブラム尚進て南に遷れり
And Abram traveled on, continuing toward the Negev.
10 茲に饑饉其地にありければアブラム、エジプトに寄寓らんとて彼處に下れり其は饑饉其地に甚しかりければなり
There was a famine in the land, so Abram went down into Egypt to sojourn there, because the famine was severe in the land.
11 彼近く來りてエジプトに入んとする時其妻サライに言けるは視よ我汝を觀て美麗き婦人なるを知る
It happened, when he had come near to enter Egypt, that he said to Sarai his wife, "Look, I know what a beautiful woman you are.
12 是故にエジプト人汝を見る時是は彼の妻なりと言て我を殺さん然ど汝をば生存かん
It will happen, when the Egyptians will see you, that they will say, 'This is his wife.' And they will kill me, but they will let you live.
13 請ふ汝わが妹なりと言へ然ば我汝の故によりて安にしてわが命汝のために生存ん
Please say that you are my sister, that it may be well with me for your sake, and that I may live because of you."
14 アブラム、エジプトに至りし時エジプト人此婦を見て甚だ美麗となせり
It happened that when Abram had come into Egypt, the Egyptians saw that the woman was very beautiful.
15 またパロの大臣等彼を視て彼をパロの前に譽めければ婦遂にパロの家に召入れられたり
The princes of Pharaoh saw her, and praised her to Pharaoh; and the woman was taken into the household of Pharaoh.
16 是に於てパロ彼のために厚くアブラムを待ひてアブラム遂に羊牛僕婢牝牡の驢馬および駱駝を多く獲るに至れり
He dealt well with Abram for her sake, and he acquired sheep, cattle, male donkeys, male servants, female servants, female donkeys, and camels.
17 時にヱホバ、アブラムの妻サライの故によりて大なる災を以てパロと其家を惱したまへり
But God plagued Pharaoh and his house with great and grievous plagues because of Sarai, Abram's wife.
18 パロ、アブラムを召て言けるは汝が我になしたる此事は何ぞや汝何故に彼が汝の妻なるを我に告ざりしや
Pharaoh summoned Abram and said, "What is this that you have done to me? Why did you not tell me that she was your wife?
19 汝何故に彼はわが妹なりといひしや我幾彼をわが妻にめとらんとせり然ば汝の妻は此にあり挈去るべしと
Why did you say, 'She is my sister,' so that I took her to be my wife? Now therefore, look, your wife is before you. Take, and go."
20 パロ即ち彼の事を人々に命じければ彼と其妻および其有る諸の物を送りさらしめたり
Pharaoh commanded men concerning him, and they sent him away with his wife and all his possessions.
